Wanda In Black Silk Stockings, Ch 37.1

Delicate snowflakes fluttered through the air, slowly settling on a brown eave.

As far as the eye could see, a dojo was covered with white snow, but not a single snowflake rested on the floor of the courtyard.

This was the sacred ground of the White Sorcerer—Kamar-Taj!

In the guest hall of the dojo, the aroma of tea wafted through the cold air.

The steam rose from a cup, creating a thick mist.

Ancient One sat in front of a tea table, leisurely placing the tea cups in front of Stephen and Wong opposite him.

"You've already tested him with that spell?"

Ancient One's gaze was focused on the purple clay teapot, slowly scraping the tea leaves from the surface of the water.

As she spoke, it appeared that she wasn't particularly concerned, her expression full of calm.

"Yeah, unbelievable as it sounds, he really did it!"

Stephen, usually carefree in front of Ancient One, was now serious.

Wong, who was also sitting cross-legged, only spoke after drinking from his cup, saying, "He perfectly unraveled it!"

Needless to say, he was shocked for a long time when he first saw it.

Even when they were led out to the doorway, he remained dazed for a while.

He had witnessed one of the most talented mages in the world.

"Hmm."

Ancient One nodded slightly, pouring tea into Wong's cup until it was more than half full before withdrawing her hand.

She raised her hand slightly, making a gentle gesture, and the spring water from an old bucket poured like a silver thread into the kettle.

She then placed the kettle on a fire that was dimming slightly.

With a flick of her finger, the dying flames suddenly flared up.

Sparks floated into the air, dissipating with the heat.

"Master, I don't understand why you are testing him with this spell."

Stephen couldn't hold back and asked.

After all, Ancient One rarely did anything meaningless, and logically, there had to be a reason for her actions.

Yet, he could not fathom it.

"This spell is known by very few outsiders, and it's extremely difficult."

"An ordinary mage would need a decade or two to grasp its basics, while Hode is only twenty-four this year."

When she reached this point, a hint of unnoticeable astonishment flashed in Ancient One's eyes.

She had to admit that even she required quite some time to wield this spell back then.

However, according to their descriptions, he merely glanced at it a few times and already understood how the spell operated.

In every sense of the word, this was the most terrifying genius she had ever seen.

Despite her expression being serene, Stephen was still keenly aware of the change in Ancient One's demeanor.

"Do you mean to say that he truly has extraordinary talent?"

Although Stephen didn't want to admit it, it was an undeniable fact laid in front of him.

What he was unable to accomplish, Hode had done effortlessly.

This was an unspeakable blow to him.

"Hmm."

Ancient One poured the boiling water into the newly replaced tea leaves, the steam rising like a wandering dragon.

Though it was just a single word, her tone was filled with conviction.

"Should we invite him to Kamar-Taj?"

Suddenly, Wong, who had mostly remained silent, spoke up.

They needed such power, and this person's future was undoubtedly promising.

If they could recruit him, it would be a tremendous benefit for Kamar-Taj.

"Not for now."

Ancient One shook her head slightly, watching the tea leaves swirling in the hot water as she continued, "I have my arrangements. You both go back now!"

The two stood up respectfully to bow before leaving.

With a wave of his right hand, a dimensional portal appeared before them.

On the other side, the Statue of Liberty was visible.

As they stepped through, the portal vanished like flowing light.

Once they left, Ancient One's calm expression gradually turned serious.
