Chapter 48: Confrontation

"Please be careful, old friend. Don't take unnecessary risks. For all we know, this could be a trap."

Dave warns Ambrose with the most serious face he can make over the holographic phone call. Ambrose nods as he speaks with conviction.

"I'll be careful, Dave. Don't worry. I've got backup. Plus, it's late at night and Father is alone in his office at this time."

He ends the call and walks to the teleporter. Ambrose waits for only a few seconds, when the machine hums to life. A figure steps out and Ambrose immediately speaks.

"Thank you for agreeing to help me. I know that I haven't been forthcoming with the details, but you're here anyway."

He shakes the hand of a strongly built young man, who simply smiles at him.

"I owe a great debt to your family, to Godfrey, in particular. A debt of this magnitude must be repaid. I intend to do that in any way I can."
