Nimir began to run around the boss again in order to avoid the fists of the beast. I wondered if I should destroy the arms too, but I couldn't do that without getting closer and with three bolts… I could approach, but Nimir asked me to just support him from a distance. At this point in time, he should know that changing my opinion was impossible, so he should be doing that for himself…
I considered loading my hand crossbow with three flames enchanted bolts and exploding the torso of the monster, but I decided to follow Nimir's battle plan.
All of a sudden, Nimir transformed again after he jumped again when he escaped another giant fist. Still, this time around, he kept my short swords in his hands. Then he charged at the beast faster than before.
This time around, the monster was taking its time to regenerate its legs, but it was clearly attacking Nimir with the same intensity as before. It probably assumed that I couldn't do much more than that.
Much to my surprise, Nimir didn't avoid one of the attacks, but the fingers of the monster suddenly fell off. It looked like he cut some parts of the monster's hand. When the creature tried to attack with the other since it couldn't smash him, Nimir used all his might to move the arm away and then cut the wrist of the monster, then its elbow.
By the time the other arm reached him, Nimir jumped toward the torso of the monster and then slashed away at its belly furiously.
"He is quite methodical for a kid his age."
While transformed, Nimir's power, speed, and durability should be at least fifty percent higher than usual, so he easily reached the core of the monster and destroyed it.
You completed a trial. Please choose between the classes: Tracker, Apothecary, and Magic Scribe (Dark Scrollmaker).
I frowned a bit… I had come to choose the Tracker class to increase my stamina and to find some ways to combine it with the Explorer class. Still, something unexpected happened again. Just like the time the Dark Acolyte class showed up. While I had the Scribe class, I didn't want its upgraded version since my Tattoo magic had similar effects.
'Having two things and trying to master them will be a waste of time… However, should I keep ignoring those classes that are related to my vampire side?'
It was a tough call to make… I didn't have vampiric powers, but those classes were showing up. Would they awaken my vampiric powers? It was hard to imagine those classes being weaker than the ordinary ones, though.
You obtained the Dark Scrollmaker class.
You improved the Mana Regeneration parameter.
You unlocked the Aptitude: Magical Scroll Creator
You unlocked the skill: Scroll Crafting.
You unlocked the skill: Ink of Power.
Magical Scroll Creator - Gain bonus experience when crafting scrolls or written spells, you gain more experience based on their quality.
Active Skills: Scroll Crafting - Create magical or non-magical scrolls that can be used to cast spells or store information. The higher the skill, the more complex scrolls you can make. Cost: 05 Mana per minute
Ink of Power: Temporarily boost the magical strength of a scroll you're creating, enhancing its effects for one-time use.Cost: 20 Mana
I picked his class and then went to recover the earth bolts that I had used. At the top of a pile of snow, I could see the mana core of the monster, but that could wait. Still, to think that the curiosity would get the better of me…
'There is nothing dark in the skills… maybe the title is different because of my vampire side, but there are no clear effects or changes thanks to it. Was I just overthinking it? No, I can't be certain yet.'
Thanks to my curiosity, my plans changed a bit. Regardless, perhaps things would change once one of those skills level up. That being said, I couldn't make such a decision again before obtaining that kind of information. Regardless, the knowledge that flowed to my head was quite useful… I could write down the knowledge of the skills I knew and make them into scrolls to make them learn the basics of some skills or to activate them when they were magical.
Still, that kind of thing worked better when the scroll maker knew a bunch of spells. Support scrolls were quite popular, but I didn't know even them… perhaps I could find ways to make my enchantments into scrolls as well, but perhaps that would make the weapons break faster and the effects wouldn't last that long… I had to experiment with it.
By the time I was done, it looked like Nimir was done with his choice of class as well. He didn't ask anything this time, so I could tell that my plan to make him independent was working.
"Let's check the next floor a bit and then we can return."
"Just a bit?"
"It is better if we return to the inn before supper."
"Still, you fight better at night, don't you, Regulus?"
"Yeah, but it doesn't… how do you know my name?"
"You had to unequip your ring to make the other and these glasses work all the time."
I wanted to punch myself so hard… I should have done that at night when he was sleeping, now there was one person who knew whom and what I was. Nimir probably didn't know what a dhampir was, but asking around and finding answers would be pretty easy.
"If you are worried that I think the same as the others, then you are wrong since I am also a half-human… but I can understand why you would want to travel alone."
"Have you heard of me?"
"Some adventurers talked about you a while ago… about a bounty that they could get in the black market for any information about you."
A while ago… It must be after I left Kiana town and I parted with the twins. As expected, the people in my family messed up when they used those wanted posters since that made some nasty individuals look for me as well. I thought that the world was already pretty messed up, so people didn't have reasons to do things like that… having a black market and other underground businesses only showed to me that what is bad can get worse.
"Anyway, don't use my name like that… we can never tell when people are listening. I might not be able to change my real name, but I am using the name Clive and I am planning to use it until possible."
"Will you change it again if you have to?"
"Without a doubt."
I was planning to use my name from my previous life, but only when I was certain that I could protect myself and I didn't have to hide anymore… I had no idea when that would happen, though.
We headed to the next floor without wasting time and it didn't take long for the frost lizards to show up. The Frost lizards were tall and bipedal creatures they were also imposing and sleek in their appearance. They stood at an average height of 7 to 8 feet, with a muscular yet slender frame built for agility in icy environments. Their scales glowed in various shades of frosty blue, white, and silver, reflecting the cold light around them. Sharp ridges run from the top of their head down their back, tapering into a long, whip-like tail coated in a frosty layer of ice.
Their heads resemble those of traditional lizards, with angular snouts and sharp, ice-blue eyes that seem to glow faintly in the cold. Their mouths were filled with jagged, ice-coated teeth, and frost that clings to their breath, giving the appearance that they exhale freezing mist. Their elongated arms end in sharp ice claws, capable of slashing through even the toughest material, and their large, clawed feet are adapted to keep them balanced on frozen terrain. A faint, frosty aura surrounded them, as though they carried the coldness of their environment wherever they went.
The creature charged pretty fast at us and even fired two ice darts from its mouth. Still, Nimir stepped up and blocked the attack with his knives. Before long, they got in front of each other and the beast began to lash its claws at him…
The sound of metal colliding echoed in the boss's chamber as Nimir blocked the attacks. The monster should have had the advantage when it came to power, but Nimir was doing pretty well… probably because we got the experience that a party of six usually get when they explore a dungeon.
In any case, after getting used to the movements of the creature, Nimir suddenly stabbed one of the arms of the monster when it was about to attack him. When the beast flinched, he went for the throat of the monster after a short leap and slashed it. The monster suffered for a short while before dying.
You received 02 experience points.
I probably received experience since I was ready to cover for him in case something happened. In any case, I approached to get the parts of the monster that we needed and it was quite a lot.
"This takes a lot of space… people without magical bags would have a hard time gathering all of this."
I nodded at Nimir's comments. Speaking of which, that made me recall that I still hadn't studied the enchantment of the magic bag… I considered that it would be a good idea in order to give him one. However, failure would be pretty expensive… a few Igni coins that I didn't have.
Still, doing that much for him would put me at ease… since it would confirm that I had done every possible thing for him. Then, I would have no regrets left…
"What should we do now? Kill a few more to get enough materials for a quest?"
"Nah, it is fine. A single quest won't change a single thing. We got a bunch of mana cores, so it is enough."
We began to head back to the exit of the dungeon and I supported Nimir from the rear. Still, he could solo the snow golems with ease, it would be even faster with my short swords. I wasn't gaining a lot of experience, but I did when he needed a bit of time to rest. I used that chance to consider what I should do.
Arcane Transference Lv 06: Transfer an enchantment from one item to another, allowing you to move powerful magical effects without losing power. The success of the transference depends on your level of skill and the quality of the items involved. If successful, the enchantment is preserved with full power; however, there is a risk of failure, which could weaken or destroy the enchantment. Cost: 100 Mana
Arcana Transference reached level six already… the skill gained a lot of experience when I tried to learn new enchantments while using it as well. Until now, out of thirty times I used this skill, I only failed twice and the item didn't break, so I wondered if I should take the chance to help Nimir further.
'If I am going to do this, I need to be fully rested and at the peak of my focus… this kind of enchantment will come in handy too… perhaps I can sell low-quality magic bags for some adventurers, that would help me a lot when it comes to money. Still, just to be sure, the bags need to be of the highest quality possible to increase my chances of success.'
