The Namean Lion (2)

After our first encounter with the lion, Iolaus and I regrouped in a small cave, well away from the beast's territory. My heart was still racing, though Hercules' body had already recovered from our sprint through the mountains.

We laid out our weapons - swords, spears, and even a few experimental items I'd designed based on my research.

"Alright," I said, picking up a spear, "we know running doesn't solve anything. We need to test its defenses, find out if the stories about its invulnerable hide are true." Even as I said it, I was making mental notes about the lion's appearance, planning to compare it with historical accounts later - assuming there was a later.

From the myths I knew that the Namean Lion couldn't be hurt with any weapons but I couldn't blindly follow what I knew, for all I knew there are many things that are crocked in the myths by the words of mouth.
