Ambush in the Cave

The four people in the cave were lying in ambush, clearly not planning to go out for a swim to kill goblins.

Lei Feng wasn't a fool, so of course, he wouldn't willingly do something so foolish.

"What are you planning to do now?" Azeroth asked.

Lei Feng pondered for a moment before replying:

"We should just find a place to hide. If they manage to get in, we'll fight them. If not, we can just ignore them. Waiting here a bit longer will allow Xue Lian to grow stronger."

"It seems like Your Majesty isn't too eager for a fight?" Long Wei asked.

Lei Feng didn't deny it. He said:

"Although I'm not afraid of battle, I understand our current situation. Our stamina isn't what it used to be. Even if we wanted to slaughter them all, we don't have the strength to finish them off."

The others nodded in agreement. They weren't scared, but none of them were foolish. At this point, waiting was truly the best option.

Earlier, jumping down from a high place had its risks, but it wasn't unacceptable.

After all, they all knew how to swim, and their physical strength was decent.

Not long after, the group of goblins had gathered at the top of the waterfall.

Looking around, they didn't find any trace of Lei Feng's group. But clearly, the goblins weren't about to give up easily.

"Keep an eye on the surroundings. See where they could have gone."

"It's too high up here, really hard to see anything."

"Did they really dare to jump? Just looking down makes my legs feel weak."

"Stop with the nonsense and quickly search for the enemies. They dared to kill our kin, they must pay."

"It's hard to see from up here, and we don't even have binoculars. Maybe someone should jump down."

"Great idea! You go ahead and jump. I'll stand here and cheer for you."

"Hmph, enough with the jokes. I don't even know how to swim, so why would I jump to my death?"

.....

The search turned into an argument about who would jump down.

After all, these goblins were no different from ordinary humans, many of whom couldn't swim.

Even those who could swim weren't necessarily brave or calm enough to make such a jump.

Who knew what dangerous creatures might be lurking below? Jumping down could easily be a death sentence.

At this point, Lei Feng had obviously thought it through. He believed there were no dangerous creatures underwater.

Based on his analysis, the main players in this battlefield were the higher races. The animals here existed solely as a food source, not as a threat.

Of course, there was a chance of traps being set under the waterfall, but the likelihood was incredibly low.

Time aside, from a logical standpoint, who would set a trap for someone jumping off a waterfall? The act of jumping itself was already dangerous enough; there was no need to waste effort on traps.

Moreover, after jumping down, Lei Feng had seen for himself that there were no signs of preparation in the area, so he felt reassured.

Truly, he was worthy of being the Xi Emperor. His calmness and reliability weren't traits everyone possessed. It wasn't by chance that his group had chosen to follow him.

After a round of arguing, one goblin finally spoke up:

"Alright, enough. I have some experience. Let me give it a try."

The other goblins stopped and looked toward him, then cheered:

"Go for it, buddy. I believe in you!"

"You can do it, you'll definitely find their trail."

"Go, go, go!!!"

.....

For the first time in his life, the young goblin was cheered on so enthusiastically. He felt elated, as if he were about to soar into the sky. And soar he did - right into a situation he hadn't fully considered.

He laughed arrogantly and shouted:

"Ha ha ha, watch me jump!"

Then, without any hesitation, he leapt. But...

While the jump was fine, things quickly became less fine when he found himself suspended in midair.

The elation he'd felt moments ago was replaced with sheer terror. He was now utterly panicked, feeling like there was nothing to hold onto.

His life was suddenly in the hands of fate. At that moment, he regretted everything, deeply regretted it.

But what good was regret now? He had already jumped, and there was no way to fly back up. He could only accept his fate.

"Aaah! Why did I jump in the first place?!"

He was on the verge of tears, but no tears came. All he could do now was squeeze his eyes shut to lessen the fear.

Splash!

Due to an improper landing, the impact with the water caused him immense pain.

In agony and panic, he shut his eyes tightly and swam aimlessly in a random direction.

Naturally, his presence was detected by the group inside the cave, and coincidentally, he was swimming straight toward the cave.

Inside, the four of them exchanged glances and nodded. They were now ready to attack.

The young goblin struggled for a while but finally managed to grab onto the cave ledge, panting heavily.

"Phew, I made it... I'm alive! Never again will I risk my life like that."

But before he could climb up, a spear pierced through his head, killing him instantly.

The young goblin died without ever understanding why his life ended so abruptly.

His Star drifted into Lei Feng's hands, who didn't hesitate to claim the spoils.

"I think we'll have to make a run for it soon. I don't believe they're dumb enough not to notice something odd after a few more jumps." Lei Feng remarked.

"Your Majesty is right, but honestly, these guys don't seem too bright, do they? It took them quite a while to send someone down, and the one who did was a complete mess." Xue Lian commented.

She wasn't blind and clearly saw that the goblin had no significant abilities.

"It's not just a feeling. I really think none of them know how to jump properly. After all, people like us are extremely rare even among humans." Long Wei added.

Joking aside, jumping off a 30-meter-high cliff was something very few humans could manage.

Not to mention, the chasing group consisted of only a few dozen. If you randomly pick a few dozen people from billions, there's a good chance you'll end up with a group that can't handle such jumps.

"But this works in our favor. The weaker they are, the better it is for us. If we ran into strong opponents from the start, it would be much harder to fight." Azeroth noted.

"Exactly. We can use these weaklings to increase our strength. After that, hunting down other races will be much easier. Besides, I believe other races have strong individuals plotting to deal with humanity as well, so we must act faster than them." Lei Feng agreed.

Right now, powerful figures everywhere were rapidly advancing. If they fell behind, it would be difficult to catch up and seize another chance at dominance.
