A... Fight?

Extra chapter! (Proceed with caution)

-------------------------

During the skirmish between Naruto and Fang Yuan, on Anko's body 100 meters away, a curse mark started to light up. The mark started swirling around and around as a snake popped out. It opened it's mouth and a slimy creature, no, a human. Orochimaru crawled out.

"I can't believe a monster such as him exists. Beating 3 hokages by himself, The First included. This is the perfect opportunity to weed out Konoha's forces."

Orochimaru had an enormous spy network, second only to major villages' and Jiraiya's. He could easily contact any person he wished to, especially if they were as loud and famous as the ones he intended to call.

"To send in those two, the legendary Sannin(three ninja) would reduce to the... Ichinin(one ninja) I guess. I should get away though, this form isn't powerful enough."

--------------------------------------------

"Let's see if the extent of your will then, Uzumaki Naruto."

"And study that beast" Fang Yuan murmured.

Realising the uprise in the morale, Hiruzen was basked in joy but Fang Yuan would crush that morale.

"Wooden Pillar Cage Killer Move"

Wooden pillars started to arise circling the shinobi, cutting off their escape routes. Though none planned to escape anyways, each ready to die if it meant taking Fang Yuan down today, yet the power display hadn't just gone under the radar. If those pillars were to attack them...

And a killer move? What does that even mean?

"Shadow path: Channeled Shadow Paralysis"

This was what it meant. The pillars had shadow path properties, acting as a catalyst for the jutsu, channeling the paralisation properties through their own shadows. The very shadows that now covered all the opposing shinobi.

"I can't move dattebayo."

"Isn't that the Nara clan's jutsu. Is he a Nara?"

"But he has the Mokuton too."

"Who the hell even is he! The plagiarism ninja?"

Fang Yuan sneered, their panic amusing him. "The plagiarism ninja? How quaint. I should've paralyzed their mouths too." He tilted his head. "No matter."

"Use all your strength to break the jutsu!" Hiruzen shouted, a grave hint of urgency in his tone.

Just then, a shiver past down each veteran ninja's spine, something devastating would happen. Yet they couldn't even lift a finger trapped by these shadows.

"Dream Path: Multi-True Meaning Extractor Jutsu"

"Dream Path? What even is th..." All the ninja slowly closed their eyes.

A silent horror descended. One by one, the shinobi were swallowed by a void of their own minds, their physical forms remaining but minds dragged into dream realms, living through their whole life, not aware of anything. For a heartbeat, all was quiet.

Nearly all.

"Ugh, I can't move"

"Are you just gonna stand there dattebayo"

Naruto, as a jinchuriki was immune to genjutsu, unaffected by even such a high level technique. What was commendable though was Naruto's sheer stupidity displayed by his lack of realization at the absolute silence covering the battlefield.

A silence that lasted short, shorter than Naruto would have ever hoped.

POP

A pop sound was heard. A pop sound paired with the sound of flesh tearing apart. A weird purple sphere took the body's place as Naruto watched in horror.

"Wh.. at?" His eyes wide.

Another one. Pop. Brain matter rained from above, his eyes falling and bursting.

Another one. Pop. His guts were launched and entangled at another shinobi's torso. His nerves slowly floating down like a spider web. This was just the beginning.

Blood sprayed in a savage torrent as bodies exploded in sequence, limbs torn and scattered across the battlefield like broken dolls. Flesh, bone, and sinew fell like rain, splashing in sickening bursts. But the most horrific part? There were no screams. No one but one could cry out. The only other sound was the wet rupture of bodies coming apart, like meat thrown into a grinder.

Every single pop. As the dream realms were created, the shinobi's bodies exploded leaving scrambled body parts everywhere. The ground was covered in blood, organs and limbs.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!" Naruto shouted desperate.

The sickening rhythm of popping corpses accelerated, shinobi after shinobi reduced to splatters of blood and bone. It was never a fight. It was a slaughter. Naruto kept screaming to no avail, his voice growing fainter, his regeneration failing to keep up with the rupturing of his throat.

"Please… stop it," Naruto's voice broke as the carnage unfolded in front of his eyes, but Fang Yuan's cruelty was far from over. He wasn't here to hear some mere begging, he wanted more.

A few meters away, Asuma's body detonated, his severed arm landing near Naruto.

"AAAAAAH"

Guy exploded next. The body of the mighty taijutsu master was reduced to nothing more than severed limbs. All those muscles and he couldn't even raise his fist at his last fight. Maybe he could have won if he had opened the eight gate. And he could have done so. As a splendid shinobi, he had sensed the genjutsu coming but at the last moment, he had hesitated to open the death gate. He had hesitated to sacrifice his life and this was the price to pay, a worthless death.

"CURLY-BROWS SENSEI" Naruto's tears mixed in with the bloody ground.

Most shinobi were already dead, the poppings slowing down. Only a few remaining.

Kurenai's body burst, bloody bandages rained from the sky. A master of genjutsu she was losing her life to one.

Naruto's tears had ran out and only 3 people remained. Why was it that this was happening? Was it because he had angered this person? Was it his fault?

Then, to Naruto's horror, Hiruzen exploded, just behind him. His aged head landed in front of Naruto, his eyes looking directly at his. He had a painful expression. Just before the genjutsu, before anyone with his veteran battle instincts, he must have realized they had no hope.

Hiruzen's last moments must have been filled with despair, knowing he had failed Konoha, failed as Hokage. Perhaps in his final breath, he wished he could have been more, stronger, better. He wished he had protected Konoha better. Maybe Itachi could have prevented this. Or Shisui. Or if the Uchiha clan was alive. He had wasted Konoha's talents and now his face lay frozen in defeat. It was all his fault. If he was only a competent leader.

"G.. rand.. pa" Naruto whimpered, his world crumbling, a light red forming in his eyes.

POP

Another figure popped, his mask landing on Naruto's head. The head was nowhere to be seen but Naruto knew who he had been.

"KAKASHI-SENSEI!" Naruto screamed, the red of his eyes deepening as he sank deeper into rage, deeper into despair. "WHY WHY WHY"

The popping sounds had stopped, leaving only a single person. The air grew dense, filled with death and dread. It was hard to breathe with this much smell of the blood. In the blood-red ground, Sasuke stood, his just as blood-red eyes, his Sharingan dim and distant.

"Any second now," Fang Yuan said with cold amusement. "Even those eyes can't hold forever."

Sasuke was staring at Naruto with his sharingan active. They were beautiful as always, though they lacked their usual liveliness, as if struggling in another world. His posture was weird, he had tried to dash at Naruto at the last second to no avail. His face was filled with worry. It seemed he realized a genjutsu was coming and was afraid Naruto couldn't break it. He had tried to protect Naruto one last time. What a good friend he was.

"No, please, I beg you. I will do anything." Naruto begged, dropping to the floor.

"I won't anger you again. I won't challenge you. I won't doubt you."

"If you don't want me to.."

"I will give up on becoming the Hokage."

Fang Yuan remained stoic. Suddenly, the dim in Sasuke's sharingan came back.

Naruto looked at Sasuke, his now deep red eyes influenced by Kyuubi showing a glimmer of relief, a relief dwarfed by his immense pain.

"Sasuke." Naruto said with reluctance. He was afraid Sasuke would just go away too. He had lost enough, he couldn't lose him too. His best friend.

"Na..ruto" Sasuke muttered.

"To break my genjutsu, you are truly exceptional." Fang Yuan intercepted the reunion.

"If you had a few more years, you might have survived."

"But sadly, you were too late."

Sasuke's sharingan couldn't hold on. It went back to the usual black.

POP

The sharingan exploded first, frying the brain instantly. The explosion traveled, destroying the skull. The head was incinerated, the massive amount of blood covering 3 whole meters. The sharingan wasn't blood red for nothing. Then the heart. It started as if it was another beat, but it didn't stop. The heart continued expanding, and expanding. An explosion brew inside, destroying the boy's chest, the limbs flailing around.

It happened in an instant yet was awfully slow for the helpless eyes of Naruto. He witnessed every milisecond as if it took an eternity.

Naruto had caught a smile at Sasuke's face. At his final moments, Sasuke didn't think of vengeance, or hate, or his clan. His final thoughts were simpler, a dream, maybe a memory of waking up to his mother's voice, of sparring with his father, of tagging along with Itachi. Going on missions with Kakashi, Sakura, even that bastard Naruto and coming home to a not empty house, filled with beautiful, not painful memories. He wanted nothing more than the peaceful life that was stolen from him. A home. A family. Friends. Was that too much to ask?

But that was gone. What was left was the hot blood on Naruto's face, hair and clothes. His best friend was no more. His sensei was no more. The Hokage was no more.

"Sa.. suke"

Naruto took a moment to process what was happening.

And the next moment.

Everything went red.

The Nine-Tails roared within him, the seal threatening to break under the weight of Naruto's unimaginable grief. His rage was an inferno, ready to burn the source of all his pain.

"Success" Fang Yuan mused.
