After hours of scouring the ruins for anything valuable, Luca and Mikita had managed to gather a few scraps of gold here and there, though it was nothing close to what they'd imagined the City of Gold would offer. Kai sat alone on a crumbling piece of stone, his hands clenched tightly, eyes lost in thought.

"This isn't right," he muttered under his breath, frustration etched in every line of his face. "Something's off… this isn't it. If i can get that power on top of my system I can be even more fearsome in battle, but how am I supposed to figure this out on my own? If I really want to learn it… I need a mentor."

His train of thought was interrupted when Luca came back, grinning and holding up a small bundle of golden fragments. "Look, Kai! We actually found some! It's not much, but it's something!"

Mikita shot Kai an annoyed look, arms crossed, clearly unimpressed with his "captainly" demeanor. "Why are you sitting here mumbling to yourself while we're the ones digging through this rubble?"

Kai glanced up, raising an eyebrow. "Because I'm the captain. That's why." He gave them an approving nod, adding, "Good work, guys… but this isn't enough at all." With a sigh, he scratched his head. "Looks like we're really going to have to go up to—"

Before he could finish, a notification flashed before his eyes, halting him mid-sentence.

[Defeat Nola, Master of the Sky]

Kai's eyes widened, his heart pounding. It had been a long time since a notification like that had appeared.

"Wait!" he called out, his voice tense. He glanced around, scanning the dense clouds above and the ground beneath them as everything started to tremble, subtly at first and then with a fierce intensity that sent loose rocks tumbling.

"What the hell is going on?" Luca shouted, staggering as the ground shook beneath him.

"Sky Island has earthquakes?" Mikita demanded, looking both confused and a little scared.

Kai, however, had a different look in his eyes. His gaze was fixed upward as the tremors grew more violent, a realization dawning on him. "This isn't an earthquake… we're being attacked. By something huge."

He watched as a massive health bar appeared, glowing ominously with the name Nola, Master of the Sky emblazoned across it. "It's gonna be that massive snake…" he muttered, a mixture of dread and excitement flickering across his face.

Suddenly, from the thick, swirling clouds above, a shadow loomed—a serpentine form that moved with terrifying speed and power. The massive creature emerged, its enormous scales shimmering in the filtered light of Skypiea, the deep hissing sound echoing around them like thunder. The snake's body stretched on and on, its head the size of a building, eyes glinting with primal malice as it glared down at the intruders in its domain.

Luca took a step back, cursing under his breath, "What the hell… it's massive."

Mikita's face went pale as she instinctively gripped her weapon tighter. "Kai, please tell me you have a plan…"

Kai grinned, his usual confidence reignited in the face of a worthy challenge. "Of course. Just keep up with me, your power will be useful."

The massive serpent shot forward, its enormous body moving with surprising speed. Kai barely dodged as the creature's jaws snapped shut with a thunderous crash, a massive shockwave rippling through the air. He quickly rolled away, narrowly escaping the massive teeth.

"Fast for something that big," Kai muttered, his focus sharpening. He turned to Luca and Mikita, his voice hardening with urgency. "Don't underestimate it. Just because it's a massive target doesn't mean it's easy to take down. Wait for my signal before you attack."

The snake's eyes gleamed with malice, its body twisting and slithering across the clouds as it prepared for another strike. With a quick flick, Kai summoned his weapons—his staff in one hand and his sword in the other. He cast Scholar's Armament, a shimmering aura enveloping his blade as the magic enhanced its edge. The sword gleamed with a powerful, arcane glow, crackling with energy.

The serpent lunged at him again, its fangs like daggers, but Kai was already in motion, dodging to the side. He immediately launched into an assault, casting Glintstone Pebbles at the creature, tiny shards of magic spiraling toward it. They struck the snake's scales with a faint spark, but the creature barely flinched. The serpent's scales were impossibly hard—like armor—and the glintstone magic did little more than scratch the surface.

"Damn scales... not even a scratch."

He scanned the massive creature as it circled back, preparing to strike again. Kai clenched his fist, clearly irritated. The serpent's health bar hovered above it like a mocking challenge, barely budging despite his efforts.

Luca, from behind him, called out, "Kai, you're hitting it, but it's barely taking any damage! What gives?"

Kai glanced back for a brief moment, his face betraying only mild annoyance. "It's got some tough scales. It's like punching a mountain. But don't worry—I'm just getting started."

The serpent lunged again, and this time, Kai was ready. He slashed his sword, firing Canon of Haima—a concentrated blast of magic projectile toward the serpent's head. The explosion echoed through the air, and the serpent shrieked in pain, recoiling as the dust of magic danced across its scales.

But, to Kai's annoyance, the damage was superficial. The beast's health bar only dropped by a fraction. The serpent was still far from defeated.

"Great. Now it's even pissed off." Kai muttered, gritting his teeth.

Another attack came, and this time Kai didn't dodge. Instead, he countered with a quick slash of his sword and cast Night Shard, the dark, invisible blade cutting through the air and striking the serpent in the side. This time, the health bar dropped by a more noticeable amount, but the serpent barely seemed fazed, its massive body slithering forward without slowing.

"Alright. Enough messing around," Kai muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing in focus. His stance was calm, but there was a flicker of something dangerous behind his gaze. The serpent reared back, its enormous body coiling with immense strength, preparing to strike. Its beady eyes locked on Kai, and in the blink of an eye, it lunged forward, jaws wide open, ready to swallow him whole.

His companions, Luca and Mikita, froze in shock.

"What's he doing?!" Luca exclaimed, his voice full of confusion and concern. "Why's he just standing there like that? Is he crazy?"

Mikita clenched her fists, her brows furrowed. "This is insane! He's just asking to be eaten!" she muttered under her breath, a worried expression on her face as she instinctively took a step forward.

But Kai, seemingly unfazed, remained perfectly still as the serpent's mouth widened to an impossible size. The ground shook with the power of its strike. He raised his staff, channeling raw magic through it, his entire body brimming with concentrated energy.

"Just a little closer…" Kai's voice was calm, too calm for what was about to happen.

The serpent's jaws closed in on him with terrifying speed, and it seemed like the end was inevitable. But just as the beast's mouth was about to clamp down on him, Kai grinned sharply.

"Now."

In an instant, the air crackled with a violent surge of power. Kai thrust his staff forward, and with a roar of magic, unleashed Canon of Haima—a blinding, explosive burst of concentrated energy, blasting the serpent directly from the inside.

The sound of the blast was deafening, echoing through the air, followed by the serpent's deafening shriek of pain. The force of the explosion tore through its insides, sending shockwaves through the creature's body. The massive serpent thrashed violently, the explosion taking a significant chunk out of its health bar. The serpent writhed in agony, blood trickling from its mouth, its massive form shaking with the impact.

Kai jumped back, avoiding the flailing tail of the beast as it crashed into the ground with a deafening thud. His eyes glinted with satisfaction as he surveyed the damage.

"No scales inside, right?" Kai said, his voice dripping with a triumphant smile as he wiped his brow.

Luca and Mikita stood frozen, awe and disbelief etched across their faces. They had never seen him fight like this—so calculated, so precise. The magnitude of Kai's strike had shattered their expectations.

"Did… did he just—" Luca stuttered, his jaw hanging open in surprise.

Mikita, still wide-eyed from the display, scoffed with a grin, her voice laced with a hint of admiration. "You're one twisted guy, you know that? I thought you were just a strategist, but in a fight... you're something else." She folded her arms, her expression softening into a smirk. "Too bad you're absolutely useless at anything other than combat."

Kai chuckled, wiping his blade clean with a swipe. "Yeah, well, fighting is the easy part. The real challenge is figuring out the patterns! Once you know the patterns and master them every boss is gonna be a cakewalk for me"

Mikita stared at him, her arms crossed, brow furrowed. She couldn't help but mumble under her breath, "Boss? Patterns? What is he even talking about?"

As the serpent shook off the last remnants of the blast, its massive body reared up again, but it seemed a bit slower this time, clearly weakened from the explosive attack. It was no longer the terrifyingly untouchable force it had been just moments ago.
