Haeun paced around the room, his mind racing. "Everything happened so fast," he said, his voice trembling with a mix of confusion and distress. "I went through my heat cycle, marking, and possibly knotting all in one day. It's too much for me."
He paused and looked at Yeongsoo with a mix of hope and fear. "What if I get pregnant? Not that I mind—my genes are good, so the baby will be a stunner!"
Yeongsoo's gaze was steady, but there was a hint of apprehension in his eyes. "Don't you mean our baby?"
Haeun's face flushed with discomfort. "You'll relinquish paternal rights."
Yeongsoo's expression shifted to one of contemplation. He had been grappling with the implications of their situation. He realized, given the nature of his job, having a child would complicate things significantly.
Yeongsoo's expression remained impassive. "The marking can't be undone, but that doesn't mean we should be together. If the child does come, I will relinquish my paternal rights. Until then, we'll go our separate ways."
Haeun's eyes widened in shock. "You're going to abandon me and the child? You're a terrible person!"
"…"
"You're overreacting.."
Anger swelled up in Haeun as he marched up to Yeongsoo.
"Overreacting you say? I'm barely reacting, how could you openly walk out of your child's life just like that!"
"…"
"Whst are you saying! There's no child to begin with, you're thinking too far ahead.."
Haeun stared at Yeongsoo, his heart sinking. He had expected something like this, but hearing it out loud made it all the more real. "Alright, I understand," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Yeongsoo's gaze was cold but steady. "It's better this way."
Haeun nodded, a wave of sadness washing over him. "If the child is as pretty as I am, will you love them?"
Yeongsoo paused, his back still turned. "If they're as pretty as you, then I wouldn't be able to resist."
With that, Yeongsoo walked out of the room, leaving Haeun alone. Haeun stood there for a moment, processing the weight of Yeongsoo's words.
"I'll take good care of you baby, daddy's rich well go abroad once you come, I bet there are alphas there with pheromones that are compatible with mine.."
Haeun took a deep breath and went to the shower, trying to clear his mind. Afterward, he made a call to his mother, to update him on everything. The conversation was short, but it was enough to reassure his mother that he was safe.
Haeun emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in one of Yeongsoo's shirts and pants. The clothes hung loosely on him, accentuating his slight frame. He glanced around the room, his emotions still in turmoil.
Yeongsoo was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling food filled the air. He looked up as Haeun walked in, his expression as neutral as ever.
"I made breakfast," Yeongsoo said, nodding toward the table. "You should see a doctor. I'll drop you off."
Haeun's eyes followed Yeongsoo's movements, his mind still processing their earlier conversation. "Thank you," he replied quietly, moving to sit at the table.
Yeongsoo served the food, and they ate in silence. Haeun's thoughts were a jumble of emotions, while Yeongsoo remained focused on his task. When they finished, Yeongsoo cleared the table and walked to the door.
"Let's go," he said, his tone was brisk but not unkind. He led Haeun to his car, and they drove in silence to the clinic.
The ride was filled with an awkward tension, neither of them speaking as they navigated through the city. Haeun stared out the window, trying to push away the sadness and uncertainty that lingered. Yeongsoo's presence was a constant reminder of the strange turn his life had taken.
When they arrived at the clinic, Yeongsoo parked and turned to Haeun. "I'll wait for you here," he said. "Call me if you need anything."
As Haeun and Yeongsoo walked into the doctor's office, Yeongsoo chose to wait outside while Haeun went in for his consultation. The doctor greeted Haeun and began explaining the details of his condition.
"Since this is your first heat cycle, you may experience significant changes," the doctor started. "Your body has naturally been repelling alpha pheromones, which is why you feel nauseous and lightheaded around other alphas. Now that you've found an alpha whose pheromones are ideal for you, your body will strongly reject other pheromones even more."
Haeun listened intently, he already knew most of that and was more concerned whether he would get pregnant or not. "What happens if I get pregnant?"
The doctor continued, "There is a 98% chance of pregnancy given your current situation. If you do become pregnant, your symptoms will intensify. You'll need to absorb as much of your ideal alpha's pheromones as possible to manage your condition. Exposure to other alpha pheromones will weaken your immune system, making you more prone to fever and colds."
Haeun's concern grew. "So, if I'm exposed to other pheromones, it will be worse?"
"Yes," the doctor confirmed. "Your immune system will be compromised if you're not in close contact with your ideal alpha's pheromones. It's crucial to manage this carefully."
Haeun nodded, as he bit his lips, Yeongsoo was his alpha but he didn't want them to be together. Just how the heck was he supposed to get pheromones from him. "What if I can't stay close to him?"
The doctor offered a reassuring tone. "If you can't stay close, make sure to avoid exposure to other alphas as much as possible. This will help manage the symptoms and reduce the risk of further complications."
With the consultation over, Haeun stepped out of the room to find Yeongsoo waiting in the hallway. Yeongsoo's expression was neutral as he looked at Haeun.
"How did it go?" Yeongsoo asked.
"The doctor said I'm okay but that I should come back often for more checkups," Haeun said, keeping his voice steady and his gaze focused.
Yeongsoo raised a brow, he had a feeling Haeun wasn't telling him everything but he didn't push it.
"I have to head out, I'll drop you off at home or do you want to head to the company?"
