"How's the energy cannon charging?" Geppard asked, standing on top of the city wall, directing the Silvermane Guards as they moved back and forth quickly.
"Three more minutes until it's fully charged, sir!"
While Cocolia fought against the stellaron in the sky, the Silvermane Guards on the ground were busy too. Rows of tall, powerful energy cannons lined the city walls. The energy inside them was slowly building up. Even though these cannons weren't as powerful as the stellaron or Cocolia's machines, if a thousand of them fired at once, it would still be a force to reckon with.
"Darn it!" Geppard clenched his fists, the gauntlets of his power armor making a squeaking sound.
In the battle between the stellaron and the Creation Engine, the regular Silvermane Guards seemed almost useless. The attacks were so massive that the earth shook, and the sky was torn apart. In the face of such great power, the strength of ordinary people felt insignificant.
Geppard led his troops to attack the stellaron, but it didn't help much.
Determined to do his best, even if it meant being crushed by the stellaron, Geppard led everyone to the base of the stellaron. They bravely struck at the giant pillar that seemed to support the sky, but the stellaron didn't seem to care about the "little bugs" under its feet. No matter how hard Geppard and the others attacked, the stellaron remained indifferent.
The first cut they made healed before they could strike again. Faced with this, which soldier wouldn't feel hopeless?
It was like fighting someone in a game who had a health lock and a one-hit kill buff. Even the strongest player could only say, "This is impossible."
But reality isn't a game. Seeing their constant sacrifices without leaving a scratch on the enemy, what could Geppard do but retreat?
Geppard felt powerless. Luckily, the rear team developed weapons to fight the stellaron quickly after seeing it up close.
Since the stellaron appeared, the energy on Jarilo-VI became active, like boiling water, and could be absorbed and used by devices. This gave the Silvermane Guards a chance to fight again.
Geppard punched the city wall in frustration, raising dust. He looked into the distance, where cold winds blew over the land.
"Mr. Yang, you have to succeed!" Geppard thought to himself, his eyes full of hope. He was waiting for someone—someone everyone wanted to see.
"Ahhh!"
A loud sound pierced the sky above Belobog. Sonic booms echoed as the huge Creation Engine flew over the city, sometimes throwing spears to slow down the stellaron and sometimes rushing into the sky to launch massive energy attacks.
The Creation Engine was glowing red-hot, the high temperature causing steam to rise around it, creating clouds of smoke. It was a spectacular sight.
Inside the machine, Cocolia was determined, even though she was suffering. She took a quick break between attacks and tied her burnt blond hair into a simple ponytail.
She looked at her hands, blistered from the heat, and tightened her grip on her spear, ignoring the pain.
Outside, cracks were forming on the ice-blue spear of the Creation Engine, just like Cocolia, who was barely holding on.
"I thought I was ready, but reality is so much harder than I expected."
Wiping blood from her forehead, Cocolia's voice was full of despair. She had done everything she could to fight the stellaron.
Since her change of heart, she didn't claim all her actions were right, but she could say with a clear conscience that everything she was doing now was for Belobog and its people.
She thought that, with Orion Astra's guidance and the help of the Astral Express crew, she could overcome the stellaron crisis. But the stellaron's power was greater than she ever imagined. Even with all her efforts, she could only hold on until Welt Yang arrived.
Serval's voice was lost to her. The communication equipment had burned up in the heat. She had no time to carry out Serval's plan. The only thing keeping her going was her determination to protect the people of Belobog.
Suddenly, a strange pressure pulled Cocolia back to reality. She looked up, and a terrifying sight appeared in the sky!
Over the walls of Belobog, an unnatural darkness covered the soldiers' feet. At first, no one noticed, but when the darkness began to block the sunlight, no one could ignore it.
"What is that?"
A Silvermane Guard looked up, wiped his eyes in disbelief, then froze.
Almost everyone was stunned by the sight in the sky, reacting just like that soldier.
"Is that a meteorite?"
The darkness came from this "meteorite," but it wasn't just a meteorite. It was an asteroid, pulled down from space by the stellaron!
A real star!
"Blocking out the sky and the sun" was no longer just a phrase. The light from the stars was being blocked, and even though the asteroid was still far away, the gravitational effects were already being felt.
On the frozen side of the planet, supercooled water broke through the thick ice, causing massive waves to crash into the earth.
The Silvermane Guards dropped their weapons, too shocked to care. The scene was beyond anything they could imagine.
They didn't know this was Stelle's doing; they just felt like they had angered the gods and were being punished.
"We're doomed..."
Powerless against the attack, the soldiers who had trained so hard felt their strength was useless. Some couldn't take the pressure and sat down, waiting for the end.
"Fire!"
A strong voice rang out. It was a young man's voice.
Geppard's eyes were filled with determination. He went to the control station, aimed the turret at the sky, and slammed his hand on the red launch button.
Boom!
A bright light shot into the sky, a roar of defiance.
The machine, representing human ingenuity, let out its own sound, and the deafening noise brought the soldiers back to their senses.
"All energy cannons, fire at the sky!"
The soldiers sprang into action, firing energy shells into the sky.
In the sky, Cocolia looked toward the stellaron. As the asteroid approached, the stellaron paused, as if it didn't need to do anything else.
Cocolia felt a spark of anger. She raised her head and looked at the stars in the sky.
"It's just a rock. Watch me push it back!"
The damaged Creation Engine opened its engine cover. Two of the five engines had lost power.
With the three remaining engines overloaded, Cocolia prepared for one final move.
The massive machine charged toward the even bigger star.
It was a charge with no way back.
