The witch and her son-in-law

Inside the library, Kael sat with his leg crossed and his arms folded across his chest. His gaze bored into the witch's face, waiting patiently for her to speak.

"I believe this is not a meeting to learn the secret behind my awesomeness. You can't catch it, it's not a flu...it's from birth," Kael drawled, moving his head to the side. "I'm sorry I can't help you, witch."

Griselda sneered, biting her tongue to avoid cursing at Kael. "I have a name!" she remarked.

"And I don't care," Kael replied, pushing his feet down. He stood up from the couch and walked to the wine rack, using his fingers to gently wipe the dust from each label until he finally picked one. "What did you want to tell me?" he asked.

Griselda closed her eyes for a second. She wanted to talk to someone about what happened with the coal yesterday. And as much as she hated to admit it, if anyone could help, it would be this obnoxious vampire standing in front of her.
