Valerie's memory (1)

At Old Madam Wright's place.

Valerie rose from the plush sofa, its soft cushions releasing her warmth like a gentle sigh. The evening sunlight, now a warm orange glow, streamed through Madam Wright's living room windows, casting a cozy ambiance.

"Granny, Aunt Rosa, I should get going," Valerie announced, her voice gentle but firm. Her words broke the comfortable silence, like a stone skipping across a still pond.

Old Madam Wright looked skeptically at her, "Are you sure you'll be alright?"

Valerie nodded, "Yes, Granny." she continued, "My daughter might still be at the Humphreys'. I need to go get her." Her voice trembled slightly, betraying her concern.

Old Madam Wright nodded quietly, her gaze laced with understanding. Her eyes, warm and wise, seemed to hold a deep knowing.

"Hold on for a little longer, let your Aunt Rosa pack you some food, so you don't forget to eat dinner," she said, her voice low and soothing.
