CHAPTER TWO: MEETING YOU

I stood there ice-cold; his question was straightforward but sad. I knew the question had a hidden meaning that I couldn't place my hand on.

"I was scared of you with all those rumors flying around, but after meeting you, I'm not." I honestly replied.

"You are, I can see your heart pounding, I can hear your thoughts and I can read your eyes," Kethan softly replied, walking back towards the bed.

"Did you expect something else from me?" I whispered, making him stop in his tracks.

"Yes, I thought you were that one person, but you are not, you are the same as the others. You all think I'm a monster," he blurted out.

Ignoring his words, I dropped the dress I was clutching so tightly when he suddenly appeared in front of me and walked into the bathroom to resume what I wanted to do in the first place, then I got into something comfortable.

I walked towards the bed, and Kethan remained in the same position.

Getting on the bed, I decided to ignore others' opinions and find out for myself.

I dragged myself closer to him, summoning the courage, I placed my head on his athletic chest and held his hand.

"Why are you not pushing me away? I heard you push people away and hate it when people touch you," I murmured but got no response, just him lying there stiff.

"I am not scared of you Kethan," I muttered again, waiting for a reply.

"Your heart is saying otherwise," he replied coldly.

"Can you truly read people's minds?" I couldn't help but ask, he was extremely weird and different.

"Why? Are you scared I will find out you regret marrying me," he asked.

"No, I'm scared you will find out that what I'm actually scared about is sex and not you. I won't be in your arms if I don't feel safe. Just give me some time," I pleaded.

Eventually, Kethan reached out to me, returning my hug, he whispered.

"I'm not a monster, I promise."

We slept in each other's arms that night, it was totally the complete opposite of what I expected.

All through the night, I couldn't help but stroke his hair and brush his face, as he surprisingly grasped me tightly as if it was something he had always wanted, and I wanted to give that to him.

When I woke up the next morning, Kethan was still asleep.

"Didn't people gossip that he doesn't sleep? And why is he so cute while sleeping," I whispered. Unable to stop myself, I walked closer to his side of the bed and bent over to get a perfect view of his face, stroking his hair again, again and again.

"My husband is so cute," I whispered.

Catching myself in the act, I gasped and quietly attempted retreat when Kethan suddenly dragged me closer, causing me to trip and fall on him.

"I thought you were asleep," I blurted out, shocked.

"Yes, until you said I was cute. Don't stroke my hair like that, it makes me feel sleepy," he muttered, still sleepy.

"But you didn't stop me," I retorted, grinning.

"Because I was enjoying it," he truthfully replied.

"Why Are you this straightforward?" I wondered, getting up from him.

"Where are you going Agatha," Kethan called out, the way he called my name created butterflies in my belly.

"To the kitchen. You will not eat with them as from now on, I will prepare your food and bring it to you here. Just the two of us will eat together," I announced.

"Why?" He asked and I calmly replied.

"I just can't stand you getting bullied," I said and proceeded into the kitchen.

Getting to the kitchen, the maid announced that the food had been served in the dining hall, and no one was allowed to prepare anything else until lunch, so I went to the dining hall to collect our food instead.

"Caspian get Kethan immediately," the king ordered.

"No!" I yelled out.

"My husband and I have decided to have our meal together in our room. A lot happened last night, we are exhausted and we want to be alone."

"Please sire, my husband is now my responsibility, my problem. Leave him to me. I have come to collect our breakfast, please continue your meal," I announced, arranging some food on a tray just enough for Kethan and I, ignoring the rest of the family except for the smile I sent towards Lunaria, my mother-in-law and she happily smiled back.

When I got into the room, Kethan had already taken a shower. He sat on the bed with his eyes following every step I took.

"I feel swallowed under your gaze," I blurted out, breaking the silence.

"I heard everything you said in the dining hall. Can you really handle me as a problem?" Kethan replied.

"No, you didn't," I protested, it was something impossible for a human to do.

"I did Agatha, I would have heard, even if you said it outside this kingdom," he retorted.

"I said that because you are mine," I answered, without thinking.

"Yours," he slowly repeated.

"No…I… I didn't mean it that way," I quickly argued.

"Why? You don't want me to be yours,'' he asked, making me feel cornered.

"Let's eat," I replied, changing the topic.

"Someone is at the door," Kethan blunted out.

"No, no one is there," I replied.

I looked up and met Kethan's stare. Just then a knock sounded at the door.

"The king sent a message sire," the guard blurted out.

"Tell me," Kethan coldly replied.

"You are going to war," the guard blurted out.

"Wait what? Hell no he's not. He's the last son, why can't his brothers go," I yelled out in annoyance.

"Because this war is deadly," The guard replied.

"Okay, a better reason why his elder brothers should go instead," I insisted.

"Agatha, this is Caspian, my assigned chief guard, he will protect you while I'm gone," Kethan announced.

"No!" I screamed.

"I'm sorry, but I'm going with you sire," Caspian replied.

"Me too!" I yelled.
