Chapter 63 So-called

The so-called horse riding practice was just Carl sitting on the horse's back and Maggie leading the horse slowly, while Maggie kept telling him some precautions.

Although he was helpless, Carl knew that it was just the beginning and there was no rush. He had to do things step by step.

Another two hours passed, and it was noon, time to eat. Carl returned to the camp and Maggie returned to the small building.

During lunch, Lori always looked at Carl with an inexplicable look in her eyes, as if she wanted to say something but was a little hesitant. Since Lori didn't ask, Carl didn't say anything either.

After filling his stomach, Carl prepared to look for Dale. It happened that it was not advisable to do strenuous exercise after a meal, so he learned some car repair knowledge from him first, and then went to find Moore to learn throwing knives after digesting it.

But Sophia held Karl back, "Karl, where are you going? You won't even play with me."

Carl shrugged, "Sorry, but I'm busy right now, really busy."

Sophia said nothing, pouted her lips, and looked at Karl with an aggrieved look.

Carl frowned slightly. He didn't have the time to play games with the children. If he didn't learn some skills while there was still peace, he might not have the chance again in the future.

But seeing Sophia like this, Carl couldn't bear it, so Carl thought about it and said tentatively,

"I'm learning something and I don't really have time, but if you're bored, how about you learn something too?"

"What to learn? Together with you?" Sophia suddenly became excited.

"I've learned a lot, but you don't have to do exactly the same as me. You can study nursing first. How about that? Are you interested?"

Carl also felt that although Sophia was still young, it was necessary for her to learn something useful. It would be better to use her time to do something meaningful instead of just playing around.

Otherwise, she will just be a burden in the apocalypse. Even if I intend to protect her, I am just a child now and may not be able to take care of her completely.

"Nursing? Nurse? Okay, do you want to learn with me?" Sophia blinked her big eyes.

Carl nodded and said, "I will take some time every day to study this, but not all day. If you are willing to study, I will come back in the evening to discuss it with Carol.

As for today, I have something else to do in the afternoon and I can't miss it, so you can just play by yourself for the whole afternoon."

Sophia pouted even higher, but still managed to say, "Okay, but you can't lie to me."

"No." Carl rubbed Sophia's head, waved his hand, and left to find Dale.

Dale is easy to find; he's always on the roof of the RV when there's nothing else to do.

Climbing up to the RV, Glenn was there too, and Carl greeted him with a smile, "Hello, Glenn, Dale."

Glenn asked with a smile, "Hello, Carl, where did you go this morning? Didn't we agree to practice shooting together?"

"Do you think I need to practice my shooting skills?" Carl joked, and then asked, "How does it feel to shoot?"

Glenn was a little excited, "That's so cool!"

"Of course, practice well. Do you want to continue in the afternoon?"

"Of course, but Sean said we'll take a break after dinner and will continue at around two o'clock."

Carl nodded, looked at Dale, and then smiled at Glenn, "Looks like I'll have to trouble you to keep watch for Dale."

"I should be the one saying this myself." Dale smiled and patted Glenn on the shoulder. "Is everything ok, Glenn?"

"Of course." Glenn, who was always willing to help, couldn't possibly refuse, but he still asked, "What are you going to do?"

Dale smiled and said, "Carl wants to learn something, so I'll teach him."

"Thank you, Glenn." Carl waved his hand and got out of the RV with Dale.

After getting out of the RV, Dale stretched.

Carl couldn't help but say, "Dale, you are old, and other people can do things like keeping watch."

Dale smiled and said, "It's okay. Standing guard isn't tiring. I have to find something to do. I don't feel comfortable leaving this to other people.

Okay, young man, let's hurry up, I have to go back after Glenn leaves, you want to learn how to drive and repair cars?"

"That's right." Carl nodded. This most common means of transportation is very important in the apocalypse. How could he not even be able to drive it?

"In that case, you'd better learn to drive first. This is easy. I'll explain it to you first. I'll go on guard later and you can ask other people.

As for driving, many people can do it. As for repairing a car, I will tell you slowly."

"Okay, thank you." Carl bowed to Dale.

Dale smiled and shook his head, opened the door of the RV, took Carl into the RV, sat in the driver's seat, and let Carl watch from the side.

"No matter what kind of car it is, it actually drives the same. Of course, I'm talking about the four-wheeled ones. First you have to use the key to start it..."

More than an hour passed like this. Driving was indeed very simple. Carl felt that he had already learned how to do it. However, Dell had only been talking about theory and did not let Carl practice.

When it was time for Glenn to practice shooting, Dale went back to keep watch. Carl said goodbye to Dale and walked towards the woods behind the farm.

When we found More and Daryl, the two guys were barbecuing in the woods. They had a few cans of beer and the two brothers were enjoying themselves eating barbecue and drinking beer.

Carl wondered why these two guys didn't go to eat lunch, and he didn't expect that they were having a special meal here.

"Kid, I thought you weren't coming." Moore leaned against the tree trunk, picking his teeth and smoking.

"You gave me some special treatment without even asking me to join you?" Carl joked.

Moore said disdainfully, "Oh, this is not a special meal, there is still a lot, take it yourself if you want to eat."

Carl approached and found two prey on a simple grill made of branches, probably a pheasant and a rabbit.

One of the pheasants still had half of its body and its legs intact. Carl pulled the legs off without any hesitation.

Daryl finished the piece of meat in his hand, licked his fingers, and without taking it again, leaned next to Moore and smoked together.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Carl asked.

"I'm full already. If you want to eat, just go ahead. If not, wait until I finish smoking and then start training." Moore said calmly.

Although Carl had just finished his meal, he still finished the chicken leg. It tasted good and was grilled with seasoning.

"Okay, let's get started. By the way, don't throw away these if you can't finish them. Food is very precious now."

Carl also licked his fingers like Daryl did. There was no tissue and his hands were oily. What should he do if he didn't lick them? Carl didn't want to be dirty, but he had no choice due to the environment.

"Do I need you to teach me? Wait, wait until I finish this can of beer. By the way, do you want to drink it?" Moore leaned against the tree trunk comfortably, obviously not wanting to get up.

"I'm still young, and alcohol can have an impact on a child's physical development, so I won't drink now. Hurry up."

  Carl was helpless.
