Chapter 3

"Feeling surprised? Does this shock you? I reacted similarly while going through it," stated Xin Yan, pretending to be apologetic even though she wasn't.

She hadn't realized how much these papers would benefit her. The reports held his secrets, which she could leverage.

The person sitting next to the shareholder agreed with Xin Yan. He picked up the documents, read them, and gasped loudly, giving a disapproving look to the shareholder who was at fault.

Hearing his gasps, everyone else became eager to read the contents, prompting them to pass the papers among themselves.

Xin Yan advised him, "It would be wise to sell me your shares. Your wife discovering this is simply not an option." Still, her suggestion hit hard for a man who prides himself on maintaining control.

Xin Yan tilted her head to one side while she watched the man grapple with his emotions. He joined forces with Jiang Lanfen to harm her skin while supporting Yuan Renshu back then.

"Why do you have to treat me in this manner? I've been a shareholder of this company for a long time. I doubt your grandfather will let you go ahead with this."

Xin Yan paid no attention to that. She had been addressed by many different names earlier by them. Embracing a villainous role just made it all sweeter.

"Wenling, give him the remaining papers. For these reasons, I insist on buying your shares and having you leave the company. My grandparents? They'll be grateful that I dealt with a nuisance at their company, don't stress."

Thrilled, Chen Wenling passed on a different batch of papers once again. She brimmed with excitement. Her boss was incredibly awesome. She just hoped she kept going this way.

Chen Wenling grinned as the shareholder forcefully grabbed the papers from her. He wasn't scared this time. He was curious to know the details she had found about him.

He probably should have because those papers contained enough evidence to send him to jail.

"As a board member and shareholder, you sold company secrets to rival companies, embezzled funds, and now plan to jump ship. What else needs to be said?"

Nobody was more enraged than Yuan Renshu. Xin Yan found it hilarious as she could easily predict what was on his mind, giving her a strange desire to laugh.

"You aim to get my shares, don't you? "Fine, I'll prepare an agreement for you!" he bellowed. She completely blocked his means of making a living.

'Have I chosen poorly?' he murmured to himself, feeling a surge of regret while observing the girl's understated yet sharp cruelty.

"I'm okay with that, but remember, if this deal isn't profitable for me, you'll end up in jail - though it's not something I want to do." Her voice seemed sad, but her eyes displayed a hint of ruthlessness.

"I will put that in mind," he informed her, walking out of the conference room with his head hung low under the disappointed gazes of his counterparts.

"Now that we've clarified everything, Yuan Renshu, you shouldn't sit in that chair. It's set aside for the CEO – me, Xin Yan declared firmly. Her goal was to make him feel embarrassed and she intended to achieve that.

Despite her constant kindness, they deemed her ruthless and pushed her off the tower. But now, she aimed to act on it. She had more surprises for them.

She promised that none of those who wronged her would elude her wrath.

Yuan Renshu pressed his lips together as he rose slowly from his seat. He seemed reluctant as he had already spent some time sitting on the chair. Yet, he couldn't find a way to oppose her.

He couldn't figure out what she was thinking. She wore a constant smile, guarding her thoughts from him. The uncertainty made him very uncomfortable.

She called out "Wenling," and her ever-loyal assistant immediately rushed over. With one look from Xin Yan, she got the message clearly.

She pulled out a sanitizer and disinfectant spray with deliberate care, ignoring the astonished faces of the shareholders while she worked on cleaning the chairs.

Yuan Renshu stumbled mid-step. He stared at her with a puzzled expression, but she disregarded him. He was about to say something, yet he restrained himself.

"Pardon me, my boss prefers not to sit where others have already sat, so I must clean the seat," Chen Wenling explained with a sheepish expression.

Yuan Renshu frowned as soon as he sat down. Chen Wenling lied. Xin Yan didn't concern herself with trivial issues. He realized she was deliberately trying to make him feel bad.

Did she act this way because I hadn't seen her while she was sick? As he observed her sitting happily with a smile, he questioned himself. His fists tightened in secret as he experienced an unfamiliar rage against her.

"Let's start, shall we?" she said, smiling as the meeting immediately gained momentum. During the entire meeting, Yuan Renshu frequently caught himself staring at her.

Xin Yan could feel him looking at her, yet she disregarded it. It won't be long before she started her preparations.

Following the meeting, a large number of shareholders started to passionately support Xin Yan. This was because during the course of the meeting, she made decisions which won't hurt the company, but instead grow the company.

As Yuan Renshu observed the happy faces of the shareholders, he could only conceal his unease with a smile.

She smiled broadly and said, 'That concludes our meeting. I appreciate the shareholders and the board of directors.

"You're free to leave," she said warmly as everyone stood up and left in succession.

"Wait a moment, Renshu," she called after him.

With his arms crossed, he faced her again and said, 'What is it?'

Are you upset with me? With sorrow in her eyes, she asked, "Is it because I joined the meeting?"

He observed her as if seeking to understand her actions. For some unknown reason, he found it hard to trust her.

How do you see it? Unable to contain herself, Yuan Renshu asked her why she had thrown Jiang Lanfen out of the house.

She internally exclaimed, 'Bingo!' He had foolishly fallen into her trap.

As tears filled her eyes, Xin Yan said, 'So she complained to you, which I expected. We should end things because I often feel that you're more her boyfriend than mine.

'Are you serious?' Yuan Renshu asked sharply, clearly upset. She suggested they break up, which he didn't anticipate.
