Ch-56 < reveal >

After seven long days, Himeko still hadn't woken up. Kevin had spent those days tirelessly clearing out areas overrun with Honkai beasts, his every move driven by necessity.

With the battles finally over, he returned home. His body was little exhausted, his mind even more so.

He took a cold shower, hoping to shake off some of the lingering fatigue. But as he stood in his bathroom, water running over his skin, he stared absentmindedly ahead, unable to clear his thoughts.

Later, sprawled out on the sofa, Kevin couldn't suppress the frustration gnawing at him. He initiated a conversation with his system, his voice thick with tension.

"Why are these Outer Gods interfering?" Kevin demanded, the irritation clear in his voice.

"The system has done everything to prevent outer gods from interfering ". System replied.

Interfering. Kevin said many things but the next reply make him pause.

"The creator of this system is also an Outer God. System can only prevent the Outer Gods from directly interfering with this world. If they send their subordinates or increase the difficulty. System is unable to provide any help.

"Then who is the creator of system". Kevin asked.

"Not accessible". System replied.

"Then what If the situation became even drastic ". Kevin asked his voice filled with concern.

"System can protect you and your soul bonds from low and mid tier outer gods, but that is the extent of system influence."

Kevin then sigh and conclude that maybe only mid or low tier Outer gods are involved otherwise he would be dead without knowing.

Kevin scowled, deep in thought. The presence of these beings in his world was disturbing, and knowing that the system itself had origins tied to them did little to calm him.

"Kevin!" she called cheerfully as she approached. "Look what I brought for you—your favorite ice cream, all the way from the Mu continent!"

Kevin was lying on the sofa, lost in his own mind. He glanced at her slowly, taking longer to respond than usual. Elysia noticed his delayed reaction and her smile softened with concern.

"Kevin... are you overthinking again?" she asked, sitting beside him as she held out the ice cream.

Kevin absentmindedly took the ice cream from her and put a spoonful in his mouth. But as the taste of the cold treat hit his tongue, his thoughts immediately drifted to the future.

He remembered the fate that awaited the Mu continent, destined to be destroyed by the Herrscher of Rock. His mood soured once more, and Elysia, ever perceptive, noticed the dark cloud settle over him again.

In an effort to lighten his mood, she offered something she knew would comfort him. "Come on," she said softly, "lay your head on my lap."

He shifted positions and rested his head on her lap. As soon as he did, a sense of comfort washed over him. He could feel the warmth of Elysia's presence, the soothing rhythm of her touch as she began massaging his head.

The tension in his body gradually eased, and the dark thoughts clouding his mind began to dissipate.

Elysia's cheerful voice cut through the silence. "You know, Kevin, you've been moping around for a while now. Let's talk about something fun. How about that ice cream? Isn't it delicious?"

Kevin smiled weakly, trying to relax. "Yeah... it's good."

Elysia started speaking, her tone light and teasing. "You've been thinking too much again, haven't you? You know I'm here to help you relax, right?"

She gave him a quick kiss on his forehead as she continued to massage his scalp.

Kevin smiled slightly, the heaviness in his heart lifting just a bit.

Their conversation soon grew more lively, with Elysia playfully engaging him in various topics.

She leaned down every now and then to give him gentle kisses, her bright energy working its magic on his mood.

Eventually, Elysia brought up something that had been on her mind since their last battle.

"What really brought your mood down after that battle? I know it wasn't Himeko that's been bothering you." Her tone shifting slightly.

Kevin blinked, caught off guard by her direct question. He had been so relaxed, enjoying her comforting presence, that he instinctively answered without thinking. "Outer Gods."

As soon as the words left his mouth, Kevin realized his mistake. His eyes snapped open, and he looked up at Elysia, who now had a knowing look on her face.

"Outer Gods?" she repeated, her eyes narrowing slightly in curiosity. "Now that's interesting…"

Kevin sighed, knowing there was no way to take it back now. Elysia was too sharp for him to fool. "You tricked me".

Elysia smiled, but her eyes were filled with curiosity. "Come on, Kevin. What's going on? Outer Gods? You're not getting out of this conversation."
