Chapter Thirty-four.

~~~Third Person, Pacific Ocean~~~
~~~July 1942~~~

"We are three hundred miles from the target, Mr. Admiral, so far we have seen no enemy American or Xandarian ships," a Japanese man approached an old man standing in front of the cockpit, admiring the hull of the carrier they were on, while the huge fleet following close behind them could be seen.

The old man snorted, with a show of undisguised hatred evident in his eyes; "The Americans chickened out of this war, they relaxed and left the war to a new nation inexperienced in the arts of war, and now that will blow up in the face of those hateful Americans."

The old man was the admiral in charge of the fleet, a fleet composed of six aircraft carriers, eight battleships, fifteen destroyers, and ten cruisers, to conquer Papua Island located in New Guinea, and thus conquering from the Island to Australia, and thus dealing a heavy blow to the allied forces, especially Great Britain.

This was a desperate measure, one of their last steps to achieve victory by force or return home defeated, but so far they had discovered no signs of the enemy.

A few miles away from the fleet, a group of six scouts took to the skies, Mitsubishi Ki-46 class aircraft, flying between the islands of Lekinioch and Kapinga. Small islands that belonged to the Coral Sea, and were currently only a few miles from the waters Xandar had taken for himself.

"BOOOM!"

Without warning, lightning struck the wing of one of the planes, causing the cockpit to catch fire due to the fuel, burning the pilots alive as the plane fell into the sea in a hurry.

"What happened!"

"Did anyone see anything!!!?"

The pilots of the remaining ships went into a frenzy of surprise, fear of the unknown, and rage as they watched their comrades fall.

While they knew they were within a few miles of enemy waters, they had not seen any enemy ships or aircraft since taking flight, so they assumed, as did many, that the Xandarians had not been able to discover their proximity and therefore their operation could be quickly presented before an enemy offense.

But now one of the planes had been shot down by 'lightning', but the strange thing was that the sky was still full and without storm clouds, so there was no chance of lightning hitting one of the planes for natural reasons, so they assumed it might be some kind of unknown weapon.

And how right they were.

For in the sky, they were not alone, since they flew over the island of Lekinioch, three wyvern riders intercepted them, but not being in home territory, they only deigned to observe them, at least until the group entered Xandarian skies, and then the carnage began.

Both the wyverns and their riders, under potions of invisibility, speed, and strength, cut through the air like missiles behind paper airplanes, surpassing the speed of the Mitsubishi and always being ahead of them.

The wyverns, large and heavy beasts, which to stay in the air needed a speed of more than one hundred kilometers per hour, the same speed that was shot with the use of potions of speed and strength, which made their muscles, tendons, and ligaments to a scale of a thousand.

Each flap of their leathery wings pushed them several meters, and even with the carriage of chainmail armor it in no way hindered their mobility or agility in the air. So it didn't take long for the second plane to drop.

"BOOM!"

This time, the plane exploded completely, looking like a runaway star falling from space to Earth, like a bird with its wings ripped off.

The riders, men and women trained from an early age under severe and almost sadistic training methods, under the army's motto; 'let training be your hell, so that war may be your rest'.

Under this premise, each man or woman trained fifteen hours of the day, and they were subjected to constant stress, so that in the air, rider and wyvern were one, that with a single command, the beast would obey him, and that with a single glance, his rider could hit the target from the great height.

It was proper to say that both rider and wyvern would emerge from their training as killing machines, immune to pain, oblivious to defeat without glory and forgiveness from enemies.

So every arrow fired under the effects of the conductivity enchantment managed to summon a bolt of lightning that you were already dead upon impacting the Japanese planes.

~~~Japanese aircraft carrier Chitose~~~
"Admiral Ozawa, a reconnaissance group has been destroyed!" A telecommunications operator took off his headset and reached the fleet leader.
"Did they manage to identify the enemy?" Admiral Ozawa was not saddened by the death of the pilots, for him, the victory they could achieve today would cover the deaths of those good men. Instead, he asked about the attackers' identity, and how far away they were.
"No sir, they only reached to report the attack, and that they were over Kapinga Island."
The admiral nodded, and after thinking for a few seconds, he had his orders sent out to the entire fleet, "I want everyone to go to their battle stations, and have the planes take off, if enemy planes manage to shoot down the planes, that means a runway or aircraft carrier is nearby."
"Yes sir." The young man replied and as he was about to leave for his post, a huge explosion filled his range of vision.
"What the hell happened!" Admiral Ozawa asked in shock and panic, with his military training coming to the fore and taking charge of the situation.
"The battleship Musashi is sinking, the whole ship has exploded." The terrifying news reached Ozawa's ears like a bucket of cold water, leaving him open-mouthed with shock and confusion.
The battleship Musashi, sister ship of the Yamato and one of the most powerful battleships in the Empire, had been reduced to rubble and fire, with no chance of even defending itself.
But the commotion did not end there, "An enemy fleet is approaching!" The commentary rose above the fire still present on the destroyed battleship, and the nightmare began as multiple orange beams protruded from the depths of the sea, impacting the hulls of the ships and destroying everything they touched.
Each thunderous roar meant the destruction of one more ship, and from the huge black ships, powered by giant sails on the hulls, they released and fired scorpion bolts enchanted with piercing and damaging enchantments that made the steel of the Japanese ships look like toilet paper.
The missiles, cannons, and torpedoes launched failed to destroy a single enemy ship, when they reached them, the torpedoes or missiles collided with multicolored barriers that managed to stop the power of modern weapons to a certain extent, and the metal with which the Xandarian ships were made offered another barrier of protection in case the enchantments were not enough.
Planes could not take off from the runways on the carriers, every time a plane managed to touch the sky a bolt of lightning from the sky would strike them and shoot them down. And orange lightning from the depths continued to destroy Japanese ships without contemplation.
From the sky enchanted arrows struck the operators of the machine guns or cannons located on the decks of the Japanese ships, filling the air with death and blood. With the wyverns and their riders cloaked under invisibility potions turned them into aerial predators.
And just when it was believed that the battle was lost for the Japanese side, black columns covered in shadow descended from the sky and crashed into every surviving Japanese ship, the Enderman, although exhibiting an allergy to water, managed to blow up the most important components on the enemy ships.
And once their target was submerged in fire and smoke, they would teleport to another to do the same, it was a scene full of death, desolation, and despair.
It was chaos filled with death and destruction, with the Japanese unable to do anything, for what weapons did they have in their possession that could break the enchantments of the Xandarian ships? How could they assassinate an Enderman without superior measures or magic to help? How could they shoot down the wyverns in the sky if they couldn't even see or detect them?
While Xandar didn't have the weapons technology like the powers of today's world enjoyed, that didn't mean they were superior to Xandar in warfare, because no matter how many cannons you had, how many airships they had in your control, if you faced an enemy you couldn't hurt but he could hurt you.
The result of that? The entire Japanese fleet was underwater, forty thousand dead Japanese serving as food for the Guardians and sea animals, and the defeat of the Japanese Empire getting closer and closer. For the next battle would be in the heart of their nation.
