"Boss, we made sure that Beta reached home safely. But is this a little too excessive? I can understand if you ask us to guard an omega for you—or even an important beta. But I cannot see anything special about this person…"
Damian showed no mercy as he slammed his subordinate's head into the table before him.
On the other side of the table, Emily's smile sharpened as she looked at the fool questioning her.
Rocxx said nothing, but his expression said it all - do not question this pair.
"Hmm, and who are you to tell me who a vital person is? I will tell you that the beta you protect is the most important person on this planet. So, I don't want to hear any excuses from you.
Emily's eyes were scary, and it made the goon almost piss his pants in fear.
Damian's presence only added to this fear, making it impossible to look away from the alpha pair or disobey them.
Rocxx knew he should not interfere but needed to bring the tension down.
"Hey, your precious princess reached home safely. Stop harassing our staff and focus on catching that criminal you are tailing."
Emily's eyes turned to look at her cousin, but they lacked patience.
"And whose fault is it that I must come here and resolve this situation, huh? If only someone kept a tighter leash on their people, I would not have to worry about anything. So, my dear cousin, what must you say about this situation?"
"Hey, I already said I was sorry for that mistake, right? I will make sure this does not happen again. So, can you forgive me now?"
Rocxx did not sound sorry, and it showed on his face. He was only sad because he had let that criminal slip up.
He should have killed that low-life as soon as he tried to betray them. It was entirely Rocxx's fault.
But even he had not thought that the criminal would be foolish enough to go after the one who helped capture him in the first place. It was beyond ridiculous.
Especially when he moved so sloppily.
The person in question was the criminal whom Rika had helped capture before. He had somehow managed to escape and now wanted to go after Rika to get his revenge.
"Since you know that it is your mistake, I am sure you will take it into account and fix it as well, right? I will look forward to your report. Damian, don't kill that poor man. You will get blood on you if you do. You don't want to see Rika all blooded, right?"
Emily asked her boyfriend, and Damian immediately threw the man he had pressing down away.
His easy action made everyone take a harsh intake as they gave him space.
Even Rocxx looked at the alpha in front of him with a careful expression. He did not want to be killed by the younger alpha.
"What are you both planning on doing now? Somehow, I doubt you will stay still and not cause any trouble for me. So, I might as well know what is happening, right?"
Rocxx dared ask, and he instantly regretted his decision. He had a feeling that he would not like his answer.
"Hmm, what do you mean? We are not planning anything. We will have a very 'normal and natural' meeting with her. I will see you after we are done."
Emily waved at Rocxx as she went out. Damian did not even look back at once, but his mere presence felt terrifying.
Rocxx felt like he was in danger the whole time that pair had been there.
"Fuck! It is so difficult to deal with this pair. How does Rika even put up with these two? I should stop thinking about it."
Rocxx had no idea how one made a meeting 'accidental' when it had been pre-planned, and he did not want to know.
The further he remained from his cousin and her crazy ideas, the better it would be for him.
...
Rika felt unsettled when she arrived home. But she calmed down by the time dinner was finished.
Charon's company and spending time with her made Rika return to her senses.
When the clock struck 11, Rika was too tired and decided to sleep. But sleep was hard for her to come by.
That was why she decided to step out for a little while.
The pup and Charon were already asleep, and Rika had no heart to wake them up. So, she went out alone, trusting her luck to keep her alive and harmless.
Most shops were closing, but the one near their dorm was open 24-7. Rika stepped inside, only for the cashier to look at her annoyedly.
'What is the cashier's problem? Does she have to look at me like I am a freak? Does she not know it can be rude to stare at others like this?'
When the cashier looked at Rika, Rika stared back at her.
The cashier finally got the hint, and she looked away. But not before scoffing at Rika once more.
It was beginning to irritate Rika, so she did not even bother addressing the looks she was getting. Instead, she picked up some ice cream and decided to head back.
"Do you know that you stink badly? How can an alpha mark you with such a rotten smell? Think about other people and how uncomfortable they will feel."
The cashier spoke these words to Rika before she even scanned a single thing.
"Excuse me, but I think there has been a mistake. I did not come in contact with an alpha today, nor am I wearing any perfume. Do I smell that bad?"
Rika asked in a somewhat concerned voice.
The cashier made an annoyed fact at Rika's innocent expression, but it took her only a few seconds to realise that Rika was not lying or playing around.
She seemed to have no idea why the cashier said what she did to her.
