Chapter 40

Usagi slashed and another head rolled onto the ground, rushing back to the steel users corpse, Usagi emptied it and took the body as well, since doing so would also earn him compensation.

"Are you alright, Obito!?" Rin asked worriedly as she checked for any serious injuries, Obito felt warmth seeing Rin so worried about him, but he also remembered how he nearly sabotaged...the whole mission.

"GASP! Kakashi you are bleeding," before he could even thank Rin, she rushed off to help Kakashi who had a few bruises and a bleeding calf.

Minato quickly acted as he surveyed the surroundings.

"This...is bad..we need to leave as soon as possible," he stated as he signaled for everyone to follow him, once they were away from the bridge, it suddenly exploded and went kaboom as Minato used a releasing seal to set off the charges.

*Booom*

A series of deafening explosions rang out, the sounds of the explosions traveled through the whole area, and no doubt the enemy ninja heard it.

"Let's leave!"

"Minato-san! Kakashi is seriously injured and might die if we don't hurry, I will distract the enemies, you guys escape, give me a Kunai!" Usagi asked as he motioned his hands.

"This ....alright!" Minato was about to decline as it was too dangerous but the murderous glint in Usagi's eyes and the state of his students left him speechless.

Usagi grinned as he saw the Trio and their master run away, he took out his sword from its scabbard and laughed as he sensed a few chakra presences from afar. Yes, he has learned Tobirama's way of sensing chakra signatures, although he can't sense chakra all the way from one end of the Land of Fire to the other, it is enough to get by for now, the only downside is that he needs to stay still and touch the ground to sense.

'Now that they are out of the way, this should allow me to tally up some merit, at least kill a few hundred Jonin...I am pretty sure they might not even have that many ninja.'

'No worries, let's just cut up whatever comes my way,'

Usagi's chakra flared up, like a beacon of light as it attracted all the surrounding ninjas to him, those that were already enraged by the incident at the bridge didn't think twice before they started running towards him.

Only a minute in and Usagi met with a dozen or so giant Boulders flying his way.

He avoided most of them by dodging into the ground and then appearing behind the ninja formation, cleaving the ninja in half using lightning release chakra mode and chakra flow technique.

"Get him!"

"Kill this monster! Because of him, our brothers will suffer,"

"You shouldn't have done this, now face the wrath of our vill-"*Puchi*

"What were you saying? I didn't quite catch that?" Usagi asked as he mowed down dozens of ninja per minute.

Almost like a killing machine, his chakra would recover at astonishing speeds providing him with enough juice.

The trick to this was occasionally turning off the Lightning chakra mode.

Finally, after thirty minutes of a massacre, the enemy ninja were left terrified, seeing the figure of their enemy basked in the blood of their brother in arms. The enemy only had one way.

"R-retreat!"

Like a group of ants running away from water, the ninja started running away as Usagi did his best to chop down as many as he could.

If anyone from the logistic department were to see this scene, they would be terrified as well, Usagi by his lonesome defeated 60 Jonin, 400 Chunin, and 600 Genin and still had enough juice to go on.

'Sigh! It's still not near the level of Minato but this is enough.' Usagi lamented as he cleaned his sword on the body of a ninja.

Then stabbed it through, ending his life, in fact, he had spared many ninja in battle, if you could call it that, living a life with no limbs was a fate worse than death.

He couldn't be bothered with ending everyone as he turned on lightning chakra mode and started leaving, collecting anything worth something.

After an hour or so, he finally took off and made his way back to the camp,

'I wonder if Obito has escaped his fate this time,' thought Usagi as he had likely killed the Jonin that the trio were supposed to face in the mission.

In the camp, the atmosphere was heavy and dull as most of the ninjas were in battle against the Earth ninja,

The normal ninja didn't know why but the Earth Ninja were especially relentless today, the combined might of their whole army was attacking the ninja of Leaf on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Kakashi, Rin, and a seriously wounded Obito were inside the camp, recuperating from their mission.

Seeing the countless corpses and patients further spoiled the mood.

"Do you think...he will live?" Kakashi asked, which greatly surprised Rin who was tending to Obito's injured body.

"He will...Sensei said that Usagi-san was an accomplished and powerful ninja who had somehow mastered one of the most powerful and dangerous ninjutsu....I believe he will live"

"Rin...Do you think Obito is right...Are those that abandoned their comrades...worse than scum,"

Rin was particularly surprised at this. It seemed that Kakashi was very talkative, so much so that she thought he wasn't Kakashi.

"...yes.." That was all Kakashi needed to hear

He looked at the wounded and battered body of Obito, his friend and supposed Rival with a complicated expression.

Just as he was about to ask something, the camp was full of commotion.

Someone shouted,

"Kaminari is back!"

"We are saved,"

Usagi who heard them smiled wryly, these guys might already be out of danger, he could sense the chaos Minato was spreading on the battlefield more than fifty kilometers away.

"He..really did live."
