In Search of Survivors

The soldiers rested for an hour before leaving Alexandria, but this time not all of them left; half of their men stayed behind not to protect the place but to keep track of their actions.

In this kind of situation, they needed to know how to act against hordes of walkers, and in Alexandria, no one could understand their nature like Dominic and his people. From this perspective, they needed to leave people who knew about the nature of walkers to keep useful people safe.

At least for now, Dominic required many people to help him create a new safe place from another point of view. Many might think he was leading them to their deaths if Washington fell into the hands of walkers coming from Canada, but if they stayed here, the walkers migrating to this area would end up killing them.

"Damn it, the only reason we can do all this in one day is because it's cold. Are we heading to another community now?" Merle was on the machine gun, eager to use it. He couldn't have such a powerful weapon in his hands without using it.

Nick looked at Merle and said, "The drones spotted four large communities near this place. If we move quickly and are effective in what we say, there will be no need to stay another day in this place."

"Would you prefer to stay in Washington?"

"Being with the military and dying with them is better than being eaten in a place where the sun doesn't even reach; at least that's better than being here."

"Then why did you come?" Alicia looked at her brother with a somewhat annoyed expression.

"Our mother told me to protect you."

"You know I can protect myself."

"That's not the point."

Dominic, now not wasting any time, put on an explanatory video of the areas they had under control and what they expected to do by the end of the year.

In the gathered data, they planned to take Texas for its military resources and strategic importance and to expand beyond Colorado. The plans were more ambitious than they could achieve because now they had to expand from Washington.

"Reaching Washington was faster than expected, but this would slow us down in expanding to other places," Dominic thought while working on the computer.

The walkers around them were ignored, as they didn't pose a problem for them. The most dangerous ones had been eliminated, so there were no more appearances of different walkers.

In the surroundings, there were no more walkers except for the slow ones, which helped Dominic establish himself more quickly in areas and develop with the survivors found there.

"We're seeing a community of survivors; they have weapons and are pointing them at us." Merle reloaded his machine gun, which he had named his woman.

"We're not going to kill anyone; we need those people for the growth of Washington," Dominic said, checking if the place was the one he remembered.

But as they got closer, the gates opened, and a truck slowly emerged from the gates of that refuge, surrounded by wooden walls.

"Zz… What's our stance?"

"Defensive, prepare the rocket launchers." Dominic wouldn't be intimidated by anyone, and he wouldn't risk his men in a place like this.

"Wait here; if you see anything suspicious, don't hesitate to attack."

"Zz… The commander is going out; snipers are ready."

Nick, who saw Dominic leaving, looked at his sister and asked, "Aren't you going to stop him?"

"I won't. I could never stop him from his craziness, and I certainly won't now." Alicia shook her head, took a sniper rifle, and ordered, "To my position, prepare the charges."

Dominic, who was outside, approached the refuge with his hands up, not carrying weapons to take control of the situation.

"I have no weapons. If any of you shoot now, you'll be wiped out by my men, who don't want any trouble."

"Then what are you doing here?"

"Saving your lives."
