After driving for many hours, Dominic realized that they were running out of fuel. They had little left to keep going, so he needed to find some horses from nearby ranches. He didn't recognize the area. If he remembered correctly, Hershel's farm wasn't in this region, making it difficult to reunite with Rick's group, who were probably fleeing from the horde of walkers now.
"If we keep going in this direction, we might find an abandoned farm. The horses have likely been set free, so it's just a matter of catching them again," Dominic explained his plan to Alicia after starting a campfire.
Alicia nodded and said, "We shouldn't walk too far, not before finding a safe water source."
"We'll be slow. It's not as hot as before, so we won't burn many calories." Dominic understood Alicia's concerns and took them into account.
After finishing lunch, they traveled as far as they could and soon saw a farm that seemed empty. They parked the truck outside the farm before getting out.
"Stay here. Honk the horn if you see anything strange."
The kids nodded, knowing they were more useful staying put than following them.
Dominic approached a barn and said, "Let's start here."
"This place looks very clean." Alicia walked inside the barn, going deeper than Dominic, who stayed by the door.
"Don't be careless. There could be walkers."
Alicia looked down, and, seeing all the canned food, extinguished fire with water, and footprints, she had a bad feeling. When she turned to warn Dominic, she saw a man with a bat about to attack him.
"Enemies!" Alicia shouted these words just before being knocked down by a strong man who had emerged from a pile of hay.
Dominic raised his hand to cover his neck, receiving the impact moments later. Seeing Alicia being hit in the stomach, he stabbed one of the three men behind him before running.
"Not so fast."
A man grabbed Dominic by the shoulder, but he turned and mercilessly bit the man's neck.
"Ahhhhhh!"
Crack!
Blood splattered on Dominic's face. He turned, drew his gun, and fired at the other man still standing.
Bang!
"Aaaaaahhhhh!!!"
"Get your hands off her." After ripping a man's neck with his mouth and shooting the other in the leg, Dominic ran toward the guy beating Alicia and tackled him to the ground.
Alicia wanted to get up, but the pain in her ribs was too intense to move. She could only see one dead man and two injured ones trying to crawl out of the barn.
"Ah… eh!"
Dominic, who had picked up the man who hit Alicia before he could scream, ejected the pistol's magazine, shoved the entire barrel into the man's mouth, lifted his leg, and kicked his chest.
The man's body immediately fell backward, his head striking the sharp edge of a metal object on the ground.
This scene happened quickly and ferociously, leaving the men behind Dominic stunned, just wanting to escape alive.
Dominic walked to the remaining two men, raised his gun, and shot one in the forehead. "Answer what I ask, or you won't be so lucky next time. How many accomplices do you have, and where are they hiding?"
"I… cough… I don't know!"
"Thanks for your great answer." Getting the answer he didn't want, Dominic aimed his silenced gun and, under the man's horrified gaze, shot him in the head.
Bang!
Leaving the lifeless body aside, Dominic walked to the second man and said, "You're out of luck. It seems your friend didn't want to talk."
"Tell me! Are there more people from your group nearby?" Dominic wanted to know if there were more enemies to worry about.
The man, who had seen Dominic kill his companion, had no intention of answering.
"Go to hell, you damn bastard!"
Sash!
Dominic drew a dagger with his left hand and plunged the blade directly into the man's left hand without hesitation.
"Ahhh!!"
The man screamed in pain before Dominic strangled him with a knife. "One last question: how many companions do you have, and where are they?"
"I… I'll talk, please; don't kill me!"
Hearing these words, the man's body began to tremble. He looked up at Dominic, certain he was about to be killed.
"I already told you, there's no one else!! Ah!"
"I want an answer; don't talk nonsense!"
"Go to hell."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Dominic showed no mercy to people like this. His only concern now was checking on Alicia, who had been beaten.
