The Magic Potential Test I

The interior space of the Azure Sky Mage Tower was very vast, enough to accommodate hundreds of people without them feeling any discomfort. There was, in fact, a rumor circulating among mages stating that a magical [SPACE] spell was cast on the tower, allowing its interior to adjust in size proportionally to the number of people it contained. The veracity of this rumor was an open secret within the Windsor family, but upon closer inspection, the interior space was much larger than it appeared from the outside.

The room where the magic potential assessment was to take place was on the ground floor. Adall would therefore not have the opportunity to visit other levels of the tower before proceeding with his program. However, what there was to observe in this place did not disappoint him.

Adall could see various engravings hanging on the walls, mainly portraits of the different Windsors who had succeeded each other as heads of the family. The outliers in this list were exceptional members who had fundamentally marked their era without necessarily being at the head of the family. In addition to the portraits, he could also see various sculptures inside, depicting the history of the Windsors in chronological order, as well as replicas of the weapons used by these figures.

It would not be an exaggeration to present the ground floor of the Azure Sky Tower as a grand museum recounting the history and prestige of the Windsors, complemented by a reception area to welcome incoming individuals.

Adall only had time for a quick glance around before heading towards the room located at the opposite end of the door they had entered through.

The walls, floor, and ceiling of this room were of immaculate white. The only things standing out inside, apart from the person being evaluated, were the evaluation devices. Indeed, Adall was the only person allowed to enter the room at the moment. Others were asked to join another nearby room to observe the test proceedings through the observation systems in place.

However, the color of the room was not the most remarkable thing in this environment. The materials used for the construction of this room had the ability to isolate it from external mana. This property of the room eliminated errors that could result from the infiltration of external mana into the evaluation device and made the test results much more precise. This was the reason why Adall was the only one in the room at the moment.

Inside the evaluation room, he could hear his aunt Axelle's voice explaining the procedure for conducting the first test. It wasn't anything complicated. He just had to place his hand on the evaluation device dedicated to this test and remain still during the few seconds it took to read the type of magic circuit he possessed.

Reading the type of magic circuit was the first step in this assessment. In this world, mana exists, and like air, it is inexhaustible. But to properly use this resource of nature, it was necessary to be born with certain predispositions. Having a magic circuit was the first of these predispositions. It is thanks to this circuit that mana can be gathered and accumulated in the body or manipulated to produce magical spells.

Almost all inhabitants of this world possess a magic circuit. Not having one was considered an anomaly and frowned upon.

The objective of this assessment was therefore not to check if Adall possessed one, but to determine the type of his magic circuit.

There are three types of magic circuits in the world of Era. There is the [MANA] type magic circuit, which is the necessary condition to become a magician, the [AURA] type magic circuit, representing the group of aura manipulators, warriors, and the [UNIVERSAL] magic circuit. The latter was not only adapted to mana but also to aura. It was then up to the possessor of this type of circuit to decide which path to follow for their development.

Those who possessed the [MANA] type magic circuit could always ignore their preferred domain, magic, to learn aura and vice versa, but experience has shown that those who made this choice never reached the full potential of their circuit.

In this world where possessed strength could change a person's social class, this was naturally not the wisest choice to make.

Adall had three different devices in front of him. The first was a pillar that from afar would resemble a cone topped with a transparent sphere. Inside this sphere, one could see runic writings arranged in a circle of about the same diameter as the sphere. The device next to it had the same appearance as the first, except that instead of a sphere, what was atop the pillar was a transparent octahedron.

Compared to these two devices, which were roughly the same height as Adall, the third was a true behemoth. It was a giant blue mana cube that could easily accommodate a hundred adults if anyone felt like checking.

After Adall's aunt finished explaining what he needed to do for the first test, he headed towards the relevant device and placed his hand on the sphere at its top. He then closed his eyes and made sure to remain perfectly still. After a few seconds of waiting, a reaction was noticed from the sphere...
