I touched my neck when he removed his mouth, wincing slightly when I felt the soreness and pain on my skin. 

However, the thing that I was dreading didn't happen. I didn't even know if I was really dreading it or what. The thought of it made me anxious, and I raised my voice at him. 

Averting my gaze to the man, I sighed apologetically. 

"You really thought I would mark you without your permission?" Maverick asked me, his unwavering gaze making me feel even more sorry. 

"I am sorry about that," I said, and he smiled.

He shook his head at me.
