Vezgor had never imagined that his long-buried secret would be uncovered by his granddaughter. The shock and confusion hit him hard, but seeing Arix so devastated snapped him out of it quickly.
With trembling hands, he rushed over and gently wiped the tears from her face. "Arix, this isn't your fault. I've never regretted it, so please, don't cry," Vezgor reassured her softly, his voice free of any blame.
He couldn't possibly hold his own granddaughter responsible for this. Comforting her was all that mattered now.
After a while, Arix began to calm down. But as the storm of emotions subsided, regret crept in. She couldn't believe she had lashed out at her grandfather, the one who had always protected her.
The guilt weighed on her, and she quickly apologized. "I'm so sorry, Grandpa. I shouldn't have acted that way."
"It's alright, really. I know you were just worried," Vezgor replied, relieved to see the tears finally stop.
