Chapter 50: Raids

Izuku smiled a bit as he watched a video from yesterday about the ongoing trial of the HPSC higher-ups who had been allowing and running the UHD. He took immense satisfaction in how much they were sweating as the prosecutors tore apart any defense the HPSC lawyers tried to come up with.

Midnight nudged her son, who quickly closed the video and slipped his phone into a pouch on his costume as Nighteye came in. Along with the over a dozen heroes gathered, Ochako, Tsu, Momo, Toru, and the Big Three were seated with their respective heroes.

Nighteye cleared his throat as the projector turned on behind him. "Thank you all for gathering today. As you know, today we will be conducting a raid on the Shie Hassaikai."

The projector changed to show pictures of the Eight Bullets, Overhaul, and his lieutenants. "Overhaul and his underlings are guilty of several crimes, which may also include attacking hero agencies. Of his known crimes, we have confirmed human experimentation, child abuse, and the production and sale of drugs. At oh-nine-hundred, we will conduct a raid on the Shie Hassaikai's main base."

The picture changed again to show an aerial view of the compound. "We will be working with local police to apprehend every member. Threw additional inspecting, and after intercepting and using my quirk on a member of the yakuza, we know about an underground compound beneath the main building."

Nighteye went on to explain who would be going down into the underground compound to arrest Overhaul and his followers. A few heroes asked for clarification on various parts of the plan, and within a few minutes, everyone was satisfied with the plan and started getting ready to move out.

Ochako sighed a bit as they rode in the back of the police vehicles. "Are you ok, Ochako?"

"Y-yeah, I'm good, Tsu... just nervous, I guess," Ochako said as she looked at her best friend.

Nejire giggled. "It'll be ok, Chako. Our team isn't going down into the compound; we just have to secure everyone above ground. I'm more surprised they're not nervous."

The three of them looked at Momo, Izuku, and Toru, who seemed perfectly calm. Izuku chuckled nervously. "I'm keeping my panic internal."

Toru nodded. "Yeah, I uh I messed up Overhaul last time we met, so if I run into him, he's probably gonna be angry."

Momo shook her head as she sighed. "I can't believe you blinded him when you saved Eri."

"Well, I mean, he was hurting a little girl, and he's like super dangerous. Besides, I could have done worse to him, but you know... I don't wanna kill anyone." Toru said as Izuku laced his fingers between hers.

The vehicle came to a stop, and the doors opened to reveal Midnight, who smiled. "Ready to go bust some criminals, kiddies?"

The students each took a moment to steel their nerves before smiling and giving an affirmative. They unloaded, and the vehicles retreated to a safe distance while the police and heroes milled about outside and got into position at the front door.

Izuku tensed as he heard a slight rumble. As the gate of the compound exploded, and several officers were flung back, Momo sprung into creating a length of cloth as wide as her arm with a metal pole running down one side. Izuku lunged and caught it, pulling it tight as Momo grabbed the other end, and several officers hit it and bounced safely to the ground. Aizawa grabbed the others who were out of range while Ryukyu exploded in size and lunged at Rikiya Katsukame.

Ochako, Tsu, and Nejire sprung into action by ensuring Rikiya didn't have a chance to rampage. Ryukyu growled. "Move! Once he's down, we'll secure the perimeter!"

As the police and heroes moved in, Midnight and Izuku kept themselves low and moved around the ensuing chaos. Their objective wasn't to scuffle with the yakuza thugs outside; it was to get to the air filtration system at the side of the building.

As the duo rounded the corner, they saw several yakuza thugs heading right towards them. Izuku rushed forward as he unclipped his fans and delivered several quick strikes to the first man that got close. One thug to Izuku's left went for his gun, but Midnight's fans struck his neck and temple, dropping him quickly.

The other thugs went down just as quickly, and the duo moved to the filtration system. Midnight opened the system and removed the filter. "Ready?"

Izuku nodded and pulled on his quirk as Midnight did the same. Izuku's gas mixed with his mother's, and as he willed his gas to move, it pulled Midnight's gas as well, and the fans dispersed it through the inside of the compound.

Nighteye, along with the police and heroes, secured their gas masks and moved into the compound to begin clearing it. Nearly every yakuza member they came across was passed out or close to it. As Nighteyes team reached the secret entrance to the underground section of the compound, Midnight and Izuku rejoined them.

As Nighteye put in the code to open the entrance, he said. "Once we're inside Bubble Girl, Centipeder and Rock Lock's squad will split at the first intersection. At the third intersection, Fat Gums squad will split off, and at the fourth section, Midnight's squad will split. Our objectives are to secure all yakuza members, the labs, and the offices of the higher-ups. Prioritize arresting them over securing data."

As the door slid open several unconscious thugs fell over, and the police quickly dragged them away. Once the path was cleared, the police and heroes descended into the underground labyrinth of the Shie Hassaikai's main base.

Mina's leg was bouncing as she rode in the back of the police vehicle. It was early in the morning, and she knew Izuku and Toru were probably starting their raid soon. "You nervous, Queen?"

Mina looked across from where she was sitting at her mentor Xeno King as he smiled easily. Mina chuckled a bit. "Is it weird that I'm more worried about my partners than what we're about to do?"

"Hm, I don't know. I've never been in a relationship with another hero before." Xeno rubbed his chin as he hummed. "If I had to give some advice, I'd say don't be too worried about them. You know what your partners are capable of, and they'll have the police and other heroes backing them, so they'll be fine.'

Mina chuckled. "Yeah, you're right. Izuku's amazing at martial arts. He's been learning so many new techniques, and just breathing near him is a quick way to get knocked out, and Toru... well, she can cut buildings in half."

Xeno laughed, but it slowly died down as he realized she wasn't joking. "Wait, she can cut buildings?"

"Easily," Mina said as she nodded. "She cut several buildings in half when she did her final exam for the first semester."

"Why would she do that?" one of the sidekicks said in disbelief.

"She was fighting All Might."

The two stared at each other for a moment before Xeno leaned back and ran a hand through his hair as Mina turned her attention back to him, and he said. "Yeah, I'm sure they'll be fine."

Mina giggled and felt her uneasiness subside as Xeno's sidekicks processed that their intern's girlfriend was scary powerful.

The police transports came to a halt, and the heroes and officers unloaded. Xeno King has amassed around a dozen hero agencies to conduct this raid, most of which specialized in close quarters combat. The heroes and police quickly established a perimeter around the six-story building.

Ever since joining Xeno King's agency for the work studies, Mina had been assisting in tracking down a malicious mutant hate group that had been mutilating those with mutant quirks. They had tracked the group down to this apartment complex and were currently setting about evacuating civilians from the surrounding buildings before starting the raid.

Xeno put in his earpiece as he said. "Remember there are civilians mixed in with the criminals, so be careful. Don't let your guard down just because someone seems scared. Confirm identities and pass them on to the police."

The heroes started moving while some set up the perimeter, and the rest headed for the front and back entrances of the apartment complex. Mina fell in line behind Xeno. She would be following him while his sidekicks would be sweeping the building as a separate team.

The building was quiet, which made sense for how early in the morning it was, but still, it was leaving Mina on edge. The first two floors had gone smoothly though they did startle a very tired businessman as he was leaving for work.

Xeno took a breath to steady himself as they approached the fourth apartment on the third floor. As Xeno brought his hand up to knock, a faint buzzing made the hair on the back of Mina's neck stand on end, and her back scar itched.

As Xeno's fist hit the door, it exploded outward and threw the hero across the hall. Mina pulled a thick coat of acid to her left arm while her right arm pulled a thinner acid she could shoot through her gauntlet while keeping the acidity low enough to not melt people.

Several men charged out with various blunt weapons one of them screamed. "Fucking mutey!"

Mina slung the thick acid onto the men's faces. They stumbled back, dropping their weapons as Xeno got back to his feet and let loose a blast of purple fire. He rubbed his chest as the police put out the flames and cuffed the men. "Good work, Acid Queen, but I doubt-"

Xeno braced himself as the building shook. He quickly hit the comms and asked. "What was that?"

One of the other heroes responded quickly, sounding slightly panicked. "We've got a lot of people on the fifth floor. They're letting loose their quirks. We have injured and need back up immediately."

Xeno let out a low growl before standing up straight. "Come on, Queen, we've got comrades to save."

Mina nodded. "Understood, sir."

Midnight, Eraserhead and Izuku ran down the halls with the police trailing behind. They had removed their mask since the ventilation in the underground portion had sucked away the gas from their earlier attack. Nighteye's explanation for putting Eraserhead with them was that it would make it easier for them to take down any opponent quickly. Thus allowing them to wrap up any engagement quickly and free them up to back up the other teams should something go wrong. Izuku felt a bit off being on a team with his mom and his homeroom teacher.

As they rounded the corner, they spotted three men. The smallest of them, who Izuku recognized as Mimic, injected himself with Trigger. Midnight cursed and shouted, "Everyone get back!"

Mimic managed to slip into the wall before Eraserhead could activate his quirk. The other two men, Shin Nemoto and Deidoro Sakaki, both fell back as Midnight and Izuku rushed them. Shin shouted. "Mimic deal with Eraserhead!"

Mimic screamed from somewhere inside the walls as the halls twisted, and Eraser had to jump back as the walls slammed shut, cutting him off from Midnight and Izuku. The police got cut off as well, and Eraser was forced to run down the now twisting and fluctuating path.

Midnight cursed internally as nausea washed over her as Deidoro's quirk activated, causing her and Izuku to stumble. Both had been exposed to each other's quirks enough times during training that they were somewhat used to lightheadedness and a loss of balance. "You ok, Hypno?"

Izuku nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

Shin pulled his gun out immediately, putting the two heroes on edge as he used his quirk to ask." Who are you, young man? What's your quirk?"

Izuku wanted to bite his tongue, but he was forced to say. "Izuku Midoriya aka Hypno my quirk is Narcolepsy. I can produce gas from my skin that puts people to sleep, and I'm able to control that gas's movement as long as it's within a few meters of me."

"So you and Midnight are similar. How interesting. Why are you two here?"

"To arrest the Shie Hassaikai and stop your production of quirk erasing drugs." both heroes said simultaneously.

Shin hummed and then raised his gun and aimed at Izuku. Izuku threw up a smokescreen using his arms while Midnight tore her sleeves and produced her own gas. Shin's shot missed, and Midnight double-checked her gas mask and slipped it back on as she released another burst of smoke.

The two heroes stumbled due to Deidoro's quirk. The drunk man laughed as he jumped up and hung from the ceiling. Shin stepped back from the smoke as it slowly dissipated. "You two have similar quirks. Do you know each other?"

"Yes, we do," Izuku said as he steadied himself.

Shin looked at Midnight as she stumbled, trying to move towards him. "What is your relationship with this young man?"

Midnight wanted to growl and tell him to fuck off, but instead, she said. "He's my adoptive son."

"Oh? Interesting." Shin said as he pointed his gun at Izuku. "How will you feel if I shoot him?"

Midnight clenched her teeth before saying. "I would be devastated. He's my son, and I care about him more than anything else in the world."

"I'm sure you do." Shin adjusted his aim, and just before he fired, Midnight lunged at him, and Iuzku threw a column of gas at him obscuring his aim as Izuku threw himself to the side.

The shot went wide, and Midnight managed to tackle Shin, but her nausea sent her head swimming, and she only managed to swipe at his mask before the man shoved her off and had to step back as Izuku threw another column of gas.

Shin ensured his mask was on right as he watched Midnight stumble to her feet. "What are you afraid of, Izuku?"

Izuku straightened and tried to not answer, but it was no use. "I-I'm scared of those I love leaving me. It's hard to believe how lucky I am, and some days I wonder when the other shoe will drop, and they'll abandon me or like my parents when they'll die to villains."

"It must feel terrible to feel that way," Shin said as he aimed at Midnight, who immediately threw up a smokescreen.

"Hypno, we need to take out Deidoro before we can take Shin." Midnight muttered as they moved, and Izuku threw up some gas as several shots rang out, missing the two heroes.

"I have my launcher, but I need a moment. Can you distract Shin?"

Midnight grinned. "Of course, I can. Do your best."

Izuku watched as Midnight strutted out and nearly fell over as Deidoro hit her with another wave of his quirk.

Shin huffed as Midnight revealed herself, and Izuku tossed a couple grenades at his feet to keep himself hidden. "I see you've left your son inside the smoke. Are you hoping to keep him safe?"

Midnight nodded. "Yes, I am."

"Are you trying to distract me?"

"Of course." Midnight said as she pulled her whip from her belt. Her aim was shot, but maybe she could scare him."

As Shin was about to say something, Midnight cracked her whip. The tip of it went wide and missed Shin entirely, but the yakuza member still jumped to the side. Midnight grinned. "Scared? Don't worry, I'll be gentle; it won't hurt much."

Izuku loaded his launcher and spotted Deidoro hanging upside down. The man's mask was pointed towards Midnight as she talked to Shin. Izuku's head was swimming, and he could hear Shin saying something to his mom about her being a bad hero. He grit his teeth as Shin said. "Be honest, Midnight. The sexy act is getting old, don't you think? Is that really the best example for your kid? Are you doing it because it's your choice or because you're trying to spite someone?"

Midnight spoke without hesitation. "I do it because I want to!"

Shin was about to try another approach when a canister hit Deidoro straight in the chest, and he fell to the ground. Before he could get up, Izuku fell on the man while spewing gas. The two struggled, and Midnight cracked her whip to keep Shin away as Izuku pried Deidoro's mask off and drove his elbow into the yakuza's stomach, making Deidoro lose his breath and then quickly suck in, filling his lungs with Izuku's quirk.

Once Deidoro was unconscious, the effects of his quirk disappeared, and Midnight snapped her whip with frightening accuracy taking Shin's gun away. The two heroes quickly dogpiled him and knocked him out once his mask was off.

As they secured the villains, Midnight said. "You know I'll never abandon you. Neither will Toru or Mina." She looked up at her son. She would have smiled, but the gas mask was covering her mouth. "And you know it's gonna take more than any villain can dish out to kill us."

Izuku smiled a bit and nodded. "Y-yeah, I know. Still... you know."

Midnight patted his shoulder as she looked around. "Yeah, I know... now how are we gonna get out of here. Mimic shifted the walls and trapped us. Neither of us has explosives."

"Guess we'll contact the police and see if they can get us out," Izuku said as he tapped his earpiece.

Toru panted as she shifted her feet and watched the two villains. Overhaul was in perfect condition, as was Chronostasis. The man had faked being knocked out and used their lack of awareness on him to hit Nighteye with his quirk and take the man hostage.

They were trapped inside a room Overhaul had made when the three heroes confronted him. Toru grit her teeth and whispered to Mirio. "I'll separate them. You get Nightye freed."

"Overhaul is gonna go after me if I do. You'll have to get his attention and hold it. Can you handle that?" Mirio said as he shifted his footing.

Toru nodded and said. "Yeah, I can. The lasers don't just come out of my hands, ya know."

Mirio chuckled. "Alright, separate them."

Overhaul growled. "Enough whispering-"

Toru shifted her foot as Overhaul raised his hand and started to bring it down. Toru imagined a line going down from the top of her head to the tip of her toe. She shimmered and shouted. "Laser fence!"

A solid wall of purple laser the height of Toru shot forward, and Overhaul dove to the side as Mirio rushed Chronostasis, who tried to pierce him with his hair, but it just phased through Mirio.

Several quick jabs to Chronostasis's abdomen drove the air from his lungs, and Mirio spun and smashed his foot against the side of the villain's head. As Chronostasis fell, Mirio delivered a swift strike to his face to ensure the villain was knocked out.

Overhaul growled as he watched the laser slice through his leg. He slapped his thigh and healed his leg before stumbling and looking around for Toru. A slight shimmer caught his eye, and he quickly slammed his hand down, ducking under a laser and sending a volley of spikes towards where he had seen the shimmer.

Toru jumped away, barely dodging the spikes as she cursed internally. He was looking for the shimmer that happened whenever she fired a laser. Despite being a terrible person, Toru had to admit that Overhaul was intelligent and quick to take advantage of things he noticed. She also felt kinda bad about destroying his limbs, but he was healing them right away, so it's not like she was permanently crippling him or anything.

She glanced over and saw Mirio taking a slowed Nighteye and an unconscious, damasked, and tied up Chronostasis. Good, she just needed to keep Overhaul busy for a little bit longer, then Mirio could come help.

Overhaul dodged as another laser whizzed by, and he fired a wave of spikes. He was getting annoyed. It would take a lot out of him, but he could just fill the room with spikes and kill everyone, then he could put Chrono back together and run.

Two lasers tore through Overhaul's legs, and he fell on his face and let out a deep growl as dust covered his face, and he felt himself start to break out. His hands flexed, and Toru watched as the ground around him exploded into dust before quickly gathering again, and she realized what was coming.

Toru ran past Mirio over to where Chrono and Nighteye were laid up. She tossed Chrono on top of Nighteye and threw herself on top of them as her back glowed. She didn't have time to mix colored light into the laser, so she yelled. "Lemillion, don't get behind me!"

The spikes came rushing towards her, and Overhaul watched in bewilderment as they simply melted and disappeared. Overhaul stopped his quirk and repaired his legs as he thought about what that hero had just done. Light hit his eyes, and he looked over to see a smoking tunnel leading outside and letting the sunshine in. His thoughts didn't get far as a fist connected with his jaw, and on instinct, Overhaul threw his hand out only to hit nothing as Mirio phased through him.

Toru panted and fell off Nighteye and Chrono. Large lasers like that always took a lot out of her, and she could feel the sting on her back. She definitely had some burns though they didn't feel too bad.

Toru rolled onto her side and watched Mirio completely outclass Overhaul. "Looks like Lemillion doesn't need my help... good, I'm tired."

Izuku looked around and spotted his girlfriend's hero costume on a stretcher, and his heart sank for a moment. "Toru!"

Relife hit him instantly as his girlfriend squeaked in surprise. "Iz- Hypno. Hi, um, no worries, I promise it's not that bad. I'm just exhausted, and I got some first-degree burns on my back."

Izuku sighed with relief. "Good." Izuku started walking with the medics as they brought Toru to the ambulances. "How did things go on your end?"

"Overhaul was tough, but honestly, Lemillion was a hard counter to him, so it wasn't too bad. How about you?"

Izuku shrugged. "Could have been worse. I'll tell you about it later, so for now, just rest up."

Toru hummed. "Sounds good."

Izuku stepped back and let the medics load her up before heading back over to his mother to give the report of their fight. Things had gone well for the heroes, and Izuku was feeling good. His first raid had been a huge success.

Mina bit back a curse as a spear of light drove into her shoulder and pinned her to the wall. "You fucking mutant. God, you look disgusting."

Mina pulled acid to her gauntlet and quickly raised it to shoot at the man who was approaching, but another spear sheared the top of her gauntlet off. The man huffed and panted as he patted out the purple flames on his shoulder. Xeno had been thrown down the stairs with several mutant haters, and some heroes were backing him up, but no one could get up to the floor she was on.

The man was approaching as he clapped his hands together, and Mina saw her moment she pulled acid to her foot and her arm with the broken gauntlet. "You guys are so fucking stupid. Hating people for being different. What year do you live in? Honestly, you should just turn yourself in and get over all this hate. it's not good for your health, you know."

The man faltered, and his light faded as his anger got the better of him. "Shut up, you monster! Your kind is filth. You're a disgrace not fit to be called human, and you don't deserve to be treated equally to us normal people."

As the light grew between his hands, Mina threw her arm up, but she wasn't fast enough as a thin spear pierced her arm, but that was fine. The arm was just for show. The man howled as Mina's foot rose and slammed into his crotch. Acid sprayed from the front of her boot up his body and face, and he fell back screaming and clutching his face as it smoked. Mina hated using such strong acid on a person, but she needed to take him down for sure. She was just glad he didn't have a durability quirk so she could use acid that would leave burns and scars instead of reducing him to a puddle.

As the man's screaming died down and he passed out, the spears of light faded, and Mina gasped as she fell over and clutched her shoulder as best she could. She was bleeding and beaten. She just had to hope no one else was going to show up.

"Acid Queen!" Xeno's voice resounded down the hall as he stumbled and ran over to her. "I'm sorry we got separated. Shit... ok, you'll be alright. Good job taking that guy down. Let's get you to a hospital."

Mina groaned as she was scooped up. There were probably gonna be scars... great. She was just glad that winter was coming so she could cover up with long sleeves, and there wouldn't be any talk about going to a beach or the pool.

Izuku sighed a bit but perked up when he saw the red eyes of Eri glancing at him with concern. The two were sitting in her room in the teacher's dorm, eating snacks and watching cartoons. "A-Are Toru and Mina, ok?"

Izuku smiled as best he could. It was the day after the raids had happened, and while he really would have liked to be at the hospital, he needed to check on Eri and let Toru and Mina get the rest they needed. "Yeah, Eri, of course, they are. It's just gonna be a couple of days till they're back at school."

The small girl shuffled in place, and Izuku scooped her up, causing her to let out a squeak. He set her down in his lap and patted her head gently, instantly calming her. "Do you wanna come with me to the hospital? We can go visit them later today."

Eri looked pensive as she asked. "T-that's the place that smells like the old place, right?"

Izuku nodded. "Yeah, it is, but remember what I said. We took care of Overhaul and all the bad guys who work with him. Also, I'll be with you the whole time, but if you don't want to, that's ok as well."

Eri frowned and twiddled with the edge of her skirt. "I-I don't think so. I wanna see them b-but I'm scared."

Izuku gave the small girl a gentle hug as he said. "That's ok. I" ll tell them how much you want to see them. Now come on, let's finish up these snacks, and I'll walk you to Nezu's office for your lessons."

Eri perked up a bit and nodded as she reached over and grabbed some pocky. "Ok."

Notes:

this took longer than I thought. I had a hard time thinking about how I wanted this to go and I couldn't really think about how I would have Momo's group fight so that's why it doesn't show up. sorry if you were looking forward to that. I'm also kinda sick so I feel like crap but I should be fine in a day or two.

Also holy shit I read Chainsaw Man and just wow. I loved it and I think it's amazing. also watched the second season of the Witcher and it was good.

I've been thinking of the story idea Blood, FIre and Fae which is the story about Izumi who's Ryukyu's kid and she has a dragon mutation quirk. she gets into a relationship with Himiko and Nejire. I'm not sure about what I want the plot to be. should I do the canon plot but with changes or should I have more focus on like a mutant hate group that Izumi keeps crossing paths with?

also my latest story idea it Puppet Master Izuku. Izuku has a puppet quirk that allows him to animate things like dolls and stuffed animals that are somewhat human shaped i.e. a biepedle teddy bear would work but not a quadrapelde tiger stuffed animal. there are two ways he can animate them a quick way in which they are a lifeless doll that he can give simple instructions to and a longer way in which he gives the doll a personality and it's able to speak and act independently.

stuff I know so far is that he has a kinda small doll that has a big sis kind of personality. she's supportive and helps him pursue his dreams. Izuku knows how to assemble dolls and make clothes for them since his big sis doll likes cute clothes. when he makes a personality doll they know everything Izuku does when they're created. also when he touches an active doll they shut down. for those with personalities, it's like a dreamless sleep until Izuku activates them again.

I want him to be a hero in training who makes a squad of human-sized combat-capable dolls to serve as his helpers.
