Geniuses Are All Stepping Stones [Part 1] (Make up Chapter)

As his hums traveled through the bathroom, Adrian could be seen scrubbing his body with a delighted smile plastered across his face. There was nothing as soothing as bathing after a strenuous exercise.

"I can't use the spells I have and expect her to be amazed." Adrian stopped humming after the thought that using basic spells at his age was uncommon but not rare.

It's right for him to think that since no matter how young he or his age mates were, there would always be those monsters who were far above the rest either because they had a strong backing who wanted their kids to be at the top or being extremely talented thus forced to train. In the face of those geniuses, Adrian could only admit that even if he was talented and strong they were still better than him.

"Wealth and connection is also a form of power." He chuckled after remembering those words he had read and linking them to his situation.

"Too bad I have none." Adjusting his position in the tub, Adrian sighed as he remembered he only lucked out on his race and nothing more.

Adrian didn't dwell on it too much as he decided to leave the bathroom after seeing the first rays of sunlight pass through the window. He rinsed his body before standing up from the tub —that was more like an extremely large wooden bowl— and walking towards the mirror.

As he began brushing his teeth, Adrian completely forgot about his daily routine of checking himself in the mirror. But who could blame him, if someone's mind was clouded with thoughts that could affect their future they could forget some things they were used to.

Done with brushing, Adrian tied a towel around his waist before walking out. Even though his current size was that of a worm, he couldn't use that as an excuse to walk around naked.

Click.

"There's always tomorrow." Remembering that he had forgotten to look at the mirror, Adrian shrugged his shoulders before walking to his wardrobe.

Blindly selecting a red T-shirt and black shorts, Adrian unhesitatingly put them on before plopping down on his bed. Thinking about how to win his and Rebecca's deal.

"It would be foolish of me to think that some people my age can't use Intermediate Magic." Adrian looked at his ceiling while he muttered. The best position to have when one wants to think deeply about something.

"If that's the case I doubt I'd be able to impress her with my current level of Magic." He placed his hand behind his head while keeping his eyes locked on the ceiling. "So what I can do is display something noteworthy even if it can't be compared to Intermediate Magic."

As he racked his brain to cook up something that could surpass the awe, might, and visuals Intermediate Spells could produce, Adrian finally settled on one after eliminating countless others.

....

Author's note- Intermediate Magic and Intermediate Spells can be used interchangeably depending on the situation.

....

"If I can't cook up a stunning spell, why don't I overpower one of my original spells," Adrian muttered before he sighed and said in a hushed tone. "Even though I have one."

Slightly vexed at his lack of spells, Adrian had a small frown as he said. 'Status.'

Ignoring his pathetic stats and extremely low level —which was caused by not getting any quests since his former Daily quest, Adrian focused on the Skill option.

As he read the details about his Water Magic skill, Adrian had a smile gradually spread across his face after seeing his plan slowly coming together.

«Water Magic (Basic)»

-You have Water Elemental Affinity due to possessing this skill.

-You have 50% resistance to Basic Water Magic and 25% resistance to Intermediate Water Magic.

-You can learn all forms of Basic Water Magic with enough practice.

‹Basic Water Spell›

\\Water Sphere\\

-Launch a 0.1-meter wide ball of water towards your opponent that explodes upon contact to deal extra damage.

-Deals 25% of your intelligence stat as damage. The extra damage is 10% of your intelligence stat.

-Has a cooldown of 5 minutes. The higher the spell mastery the lower the cooldown.

-Costs 10 Mana points to activate. The higher the Mana used the higher the damage and bigger the size with the cooldown remaining the same.

Staring at his stats with a smile on his face, Adrian decided to splurge every ounce of his Mana in casting his only spell thus impressing Rebecca.

"Let's see who gets the last laugh." Adrian chuckled as he imagined getting the rewards from the quest his System gave him this morning.

As time gradually passed, Adrian's chuckles quietened. He had burnt a lot of brain cells so that he could cook up a plan but even though he succeeded it had taken a toll on his four-year-old brain.

Forced to sleep after his head felt like it was about to split, Adrian mumbled some words in his drowsy state before finally falling asleep.

Looking akin to a stiff log as he peacefully lay on his bed. If it wasn't for the periodic rising of his chest and his snores, someone who just walked in would think that Adrian was dead because of how peaceful he looked.

Only if he had known that Rebecca didn't expect him —who she was sure hadn't been exposed to Magic nor a school— to know anything about it, he wouldn't have bothered thinking till he had a splitting headache since using Basic Magic at his age was rare and enough for him to pass.
