After discovering the answer, Chen Fan felt a surge of joy in his heart. He was thankful he wasn't restrained by chains; otherwise, cultivating in this cell would have been an insurmountable challenge.

At this moment, the cell door on the sixth floor of the propulsion unit swung open, allowing a faint light to spill in. Seven or eight figures shuffled inside, cloaked in large, black robes that obscured their faces in shadow.

Without uttering a word, they placed plates of food in front of each cell and left without any unnecessary actions. Chen Fan observed that each cell had three plates of food, seemingly intended for three people. As he glanced around at the neighboring cells, he noticed that some housed only one person, while others had two or, at most, three occupants. This raised the question: Why were there three meals in front of each cell?

A growling hunger in his stomach brought Chen Fan back to reality, prompting him to decide to sate his hunger before resuming his training.

As he reached for the food, a sudden sense of danger overcame him, causing him to instinctively shield himself with his arms. A colossal hand lunged toward him, and the sheer force of the attack sent Chen Fan sprawling to the far edge of his cell.

"Oh, it's a bit interesting. You managed to block it, kid," Barrick sneered, his face radiating arrogance. "But if you want to eat, you'll have to go hungry for a couple of days. If I'm in a good mood, I might share some scraps with you. For now, though, these rations are all mine."

Chen Fan clenched his fists, his nails digging into his flesh. That last strike, had he not reacted in time to block it, would have rendered him unconscious, if not seriously injured.

The power here in the world of One Piece was truly formidable, even though Barrick was restrained by chains and couldn't unleash his full strength.

"Barrick, show some mercy to the kid. It's no fun if he dies too soon," someone remarked. "But you're right to do this. It'll make those damn Navy folks think twice before sending anyone down to the sixth level of the propulsion unit."

Laughter erupted from the surrounding cells as the pirates watched the scene unfold. No one spoke up in Chen Fan's defense; after all, he was just a twelve or thirteen-year-old boy.

With his head bowed, Chen Fan's eyes smoldered with resentment. He was acutely aware that if he were to confront Barrick head-on with his current strength, he'd be signing his own death warrant. However, he also saw a glimmer of opportunity.

Consequently, Chen Fan retreated into a corner, paying no heed to the jeers of the others.

It wasn't until evening that the same group of individuals returned with food for the prisoners on the sixth floor of the cell. This time, Chen Fan remained seated in his corner, choosing not to approach the food.

Seeing Chen Fan's reluctance, Barrick grew bored and decided to address him, "Kid, if you last three days without eating, I might consider sharing some food with you."

Chen Fan didn't respond. Instead, he grabbed a stone and began to sharpen it.

Barrick sighed, shaking his head. "You're such a boring kid. No fun at all."

As the evening breeze rustled through the cell, the hours passed, and most of the prisoners drifted off to sleep. Chen Fan suddenly opened his eyes, fixating on the burly man seated diagonally across from him. In his hands were sharpened stones, a weapon he had honed meticulously.

Tonight, Chen Fan had made up his mind. Despite the vast difference in their strength, he knew this was the best chance he had. If he didn't act now, he might lack the strength to do so in two days, thanks to hunger.

Without hesitation, Chen Fan approached Barrick with silent, nimble steps.

One step, two steps, three steps—the cell grew eerily quiet as Chen Fan drew nearer to Barrick. When he was less than a meter away, he raised his right hand swiftly and thrust the sharpened stone towards Barrick's throat.

Sensing the danger, Barrick's eyes snapped open, but it was too late. The stone pierced his throat, and blood spurted out.

Pain coursed through Barrick's body, rendering him unable to make a sound. He clutched at his bleeding throat with one hand and attempted to punch Chen Fan with the other.

Chen Fan hadn't anticipated Barrick's tenacity. Despite his throat being pierced, Barrick still fought back with ferocity. Chen Fan had to dodge quickly to the right to avoid the blows.

Blood flowed profusely from Barrick's wrist as he continued his relentless assault. He realized that he might not survive this encounter, but his only aim now was to take Chen Fan down with him.

Chen Fan kept evading Barrick's furious punches. If one landed, it would leave him seriously injured if not dead. However, as long as he survived, Barrick's fate was sealed.

Luckily, Barrick remained bound by chains, or else he could have cornered Chen Fan and left him with no escape.

The commotion in the cell had attracted the attention of the other pirates. They watched, unable to see clearly in the dimness but able to hear the sounds of struggle.

The pirates were both surprised and excited. They hadn't witnessed such a thrilling spectacle in a long time. Although they couldn't see the action, the sounds were enough to entertain them.

"Kid, well done! You've got some guts," they cheered, urging Chen Fan to fight back.

Chen Fan, however, remained focused, dodging Barrick's relentless attacks with determination.
