In the original story, Black Noir was created with an objective: to kill Homelander in case he went out of control.
It made sense to devise a way to stop Homelander once it was known that his power would evolve to the point where conventional technology and weapons could not kill him. So they were forced to make a decision: either kill Homelander, who was the epitome of the supreme being they could create, or design a way to stop him even if he became invincible.
Thus, Vought, like any company that only looks out for its own interests and doesn't care about putting the world in danger, decided to keep their golden goose. Meanwhile, they secretly developed a weapon to stop him and, as a last resort, to kill him.
But what?
If Homelander was to be the perfect Supe who could kill him? The answer was macabre... what better way to kill Homelander than with Homelander himself?
Black Noir was the result of this twisted idea...
Black Noir lacked all the shortcomings, weaknesses, and flaws of Homelander. Unlike Homelander, the pampered child who lived in luxury after leaving the lab and was raised with the belief of being invincible.
Black Noir was different; he grew up training in all forms of combat, assassination, espionage, tactics, and strategies—all necessary to be even superior to Homelander.
As for the risk of creating something worse than Homelander, the answer is clear: Black Noir is worse than Homelander, much worse.
While Homelander is not innocent, he considers everyone as garbage, is selfish, an extreme narcissist with a god complex, and a psychopathic killer. Black Noir takes all that to the extreme. He is a serial killer, enjoys torture for fun, and has committed cannibalism, necrophilia, bestiality... and many more things that would make criminals and villains in the worst prisons of the world vomit. This guy takes pleasure in killing and making others suffer as a form of twisted gratification.
But what was Black Noir doing here?
Generally, Black Noir follows Homelander in secret, simply to keep an eye on him and, if the situation allows, to "have fun."
Black Noir is a sadistic bastard. On the rare occasions when Homelander saves someone, even if only to maintain his good image and receive admiration. Black Noir waits until Homelander leaves, then takes off his mask and goes back to kill those Homelander saved.
Even in a world full of degenerate, perverted, crazy, murderous, evil, and psychopathic characters, Black Noir was a chilling, sadistic, cruel, inhumane, and profane monster.
Allen didn't want the original version of Black Noir; he preferred that, like most people such as Butcher, Frenchie, Hughie, Robin, Homelander, The Deep, A-Train, Translucent, Ashley, Madelyn, and Maeve, he be a live-action version, even if only in personality and appearance. However, that wish was not granted, and like Annie, Black Noir was closer to the original.
...
Allen's spider sense heightened to the point of precognition for a moment, due to the imminent danger represented by Black Noir.
A hole appeared in the sea before splitting apart from the massive amount of energy released by Allen. While Superman's abilities are often compared to a solar battery that stores energy, Sentry's... in this case, Allen's, are like a living generator of limitless energy, with the ability to manipulate it at will as long as he can keep it under control.
"Black Noir!!" Allen shouted, flying at full speed.
Allen was furious, perhaps it seemed disproportionate to some because Black Noir had not attacked Artoria, and 2B had only been thrown away while blocking Black Noir's attack.
But that was not why Allen was furious; it was the possibility, the mere thought that someone important to Allen could fall into Black Noir's hands, that was enough to set him off. The idea of that bastard having any thoughts about Artoria twisted Allen's stomach. Furthermore...
Allen's eyes were extremely cold as he looked at Black Noir. 'I feel it in my chest and the depth of my soul!... this man, this monster, is filled with madness, wrapped in death, and breathing cruelty!!... I WON'T LET YOU TOUCH HER!!'
It had nothing to do with strength, as Allen acknowledged that Artoria and 2B were strong. It was simply his heart; Allen's heart pounded fiercely at the thought of something so horrible being near his loved ones.
Black Noir had struck 2B to push her away but did not pursue her. Instead, he looked at Artoria, who was holding the plane with one hand while drawing Excalibur. Her gaze was serious and filled with disdain, she could see with a single glance the kind of monster Black Noir was.
She had never seen a human or god as twisted as this.
Artoria smiled upon hearing her master's shout...
Allen arrived almost instantly, enveloped in a layer of pure, concentrated energy.
"What are you doing?!" With a deep voice full of resentment, Allen clenched his fist and drove it into Black Noir's face.
Black Noir staggered back. The sea behind him parted from Allen's attack.
"He he... Hehe... Heeh" Black Noir laughed intermittently and eerily.
Black Noir vanished, or rather, moved extremely fast and appeared above Allen. Then, he clasped his hands together in the shape of a hammer. It was easy to guess his intention. In response, Allen formed an energy shield to block the blow.
The shield shattered but lessened the force of the attack, and Allen managed to stop it with his own hands.
A new shockwave shook the air, churned the water, and jolted the plane. People screamed, the little girl was worried, and even the Chat reacted. Allen was overpowered during the exchange, a stark contrast to what had happened with Homelander.
Artoria quickly moved the plane away. At that moment, she made the right decision; the best way to help Allen was to distance the plane from the battle.
"…"
Black Noir remained silent from start to finish. He didn't speak, but he could. Beneath the mask, he wore a disturbing smile, the kind capable of giving people nightmares.
"Tsk, you're disgusting…" Allen said, pushing Black Noir away.
"You're a... strange guy..." Black Noir replied with a giggling, childlike voice that was simultaneously cruel, sadistic, and filled with violence. You didn't need proof to know this guy was dangerous. "Are you trying to protect them? Hehe...heh... Heh... how weird."
"Shut up!"
Allen's spider sense flared up like a stabbing pain.
"Artoria!"
With Allen's shout, Artoria moved from her position. Black Noir fired his heat vision at full power.
"Stop it now!!"
Allen took a hundredth of a second to block Black Noir's heat vision with his own hand, at the cost of severe burns.
However, it wasn't fast enough. At that instant, at that single moment when Allen was outmatched by Black Noir and let his heat vision through, a couple of scarlet rays streaked across the sky. They lasted only an instant but were much faster and hotter than Homelander's.
Artoria managed to move the plane, but not entirely, and one of the plane's wings was sliced off. The shield that had no trouble resisting Homelander's power was cut like butter.
Allen's gaze darkened, but soon his anger reached its peak.
"YOU BASTARD!!" Allen unleashed his power, surprising Black Noir. Then Allen used his hand to punch a hole in Black Noir's invulnerable abdomen.
"...!"
Black Noir tried to counterattack with his arm, but Allen grabbed his arm with his right hand while squeezing Black Noir's neck with the other.
"Hey... Do you think you can hurt anyone with me around?! Do you think I'll let you kill anyone?! Do you think you can target my loved ones?!!"
Black Noir stopped smiling and looked confused, feeling the pain from the wound he had received.
Allen was strong; Black Noir would acknowledge that. However, he was weaker than even Homelander. In his view, the only reason Allen was able to humiliate Homelander was that the narcissistic fool didn't know how to fight—he lacked experience, technique, and skill. But that didn't apply to Black Noir. That's why Black Noir decided to toy with Allen a bit.
If people could hear Black Noir's thoughts, they would understand why Allen hated him so much.
Black Noir thought about playing with Allen. He enjoyed playing games; he didn't plan to kill Allen right away. He intended to kill the passengers one by one, then target the women, who seemed very important to Allen. Finally, he would desecrate their corpses in front of Allen after breaking all his limbs. It was something sickening to everyone, but this monster considered it normal and had done even worse in the past.
In Black Noir's mind, something of this level sounded like a fitting revenge for interrupting his happy moment with Starlight. However, something strange happened...
For a moment, in an instant, Allen's power multiplied several times and created a hole in Black Noir's abdomen. It was so fast and precise that Black Noir couldn't react, and it was clear Allen intended to kill him.
Black Noir tried to pull Allen's hands away to distance him but couldn't move him. It was like trying to move a freighter. Black Noir used his free arm to strike Allen repeatedly, but despite each blow being capable of destroying other Supes, they barely scratched Allen.
"Hey..." Allen said slowly after Black Noir stopped attacking.
"…"
"Looks like I have to show you... that I'm serious..."
"...!"
Black Noir heard a crack and looked at his right arm, which Allen had been holding until recently. It was broken, pulverized, and now hanging limply. After that, Allen tightened his grip on Black Noir's throat and crushed it.
Black Noir's expression shifted from shock to disbelief. He had been injured. The ultimate weapon had been put in this position by a complete unknown.
...
Throughout his life, Sentry struggled with his power due to its unstable nature. At times, he could shift from being a typical superhero to potentially destroying the universe. His strength could be immense or insignificant, making no sense at all. Sentry also suffered from mental instability, which was often his weakness and led to his defeats.
When Allen took on that power, he inherited both its advantages and flaws. However, Allen is not Sentry, whether in terms of mental strength or experience. He has many strengths that allow him to control this power. This only applies to normal situations. The anger consuming him at that moment caused him to lose some of that self-control.
Allen took advantage of that moment and inflicted severe damage on Black Noir, but at the cost of his mind becoming clouded.
One could say Sentry shared similarities with Broly.
[Host!!]
"...!"
Allen found it hard to think clearly, and with the system's words, he became aware of his situation. Allen couldn't afford to fall into madness like Sentry or he would regret it, so he quickly regained control and suppressed his power.
Black Noir noticed that Allen was weakening and struck him in the face, sending him flying.
"Master!" 2B caught him in mid-air.
"I'm fine..." Allen said with a slightly strained smile, then spat out several teeth that Black Noir had broken. Allen was surprised as was the Chat.
While Allen could have killed Black Noir in his fury and madness, this could have also turned into a tragedy if Allen lost control...
Urahara – Impressive how young Allen managed to regain his composure from that situation...
Aizen – It's equally impressive that despite his severe injuries, Black Noir managed to use Allen's moment of weakness to free himself.
Diana – Allen, you are pushing your current limit too far.
Superman – Still, you managed to control it in the end, which is commendable.
Kara – Kal-El, don't be lenient! Allen, I understand your anger, but do you want to make us all worried?!
"I'm sorry..." Allen wasn't annoyed by the scolding and knew that many shared that sentiment. This made him feel content, knowing that despite this monstrous and sometimes dangerous power, he had forged a bond with his audience that was not easily broken.
Unlike Homelander's falsehoods and staged acts, Allen never hides his flaws, failures, anger, shortcomings, or frustrations.
Everyone knows who Allen is, which is why they can trust him, even if he becomes a terrifying monster and ceases to be human; that won't change.
"Thanks... I'm okay now." The energy around Allen settled, returning to calm. His eyes regained their soft golden hue, and his presence exuded reassurance, not fear.
Allen's broken teeth and his hand were regenerated.
...
Black Noir didn't understand. He couldn't grasp the man before him, who went from madness to weakness and then regained strength, albeit not fully. For some reason, Black Noir no longer wanted to fight Allen.
Black Noir clutched his abdomen; his intestines were exposed, his arm was broken, and his throat was crushed. It was a grotesque and bloody sight. For a normal human, these would be mortal wounds, but not for a supe like Black Noir, who could survive even with his brain exposed and organs were torn apart in his fight against Homelander.
Black Noir looked at Allen for a moment. 2B protectively positioned herself in front of Allen, but Black Noir didn't attack. Instead, he vanished and submerged into the sea. He took the unconscious Homelander and escaped.
2B was about to pursue him, but Allen stopped her.
Rick – Are you sure? That guy will come back with new guts...
"Yes, don't be fooled by his appearance. That guy is far from dying..."
Felicia – Allen! Are you okay?
"Yeah... a bit tired."
Ruby – Unlike Superman, Sentry didn't have weaknesses like kryptonite, red suns, or vulnerability to magic. However, the instability of his power and his mental instability were often his kryptonite.
Superman – It's a strange feeling knowing so many people are aware of my weaknesses, but I suppose it's fair, hahaha.
Kara – How could you not tell us that power was so dangerous?!!
"Don't worry, while my power is unstable, I can manage it with relative ease. However, there is a limit to how much I can control... as long as I don't exceed it, I'll be fine."
TheEmperador – And that limit is below the first man...
Allen smiled. "Yes, my current limit is below what is necessary to kill Homelander's clone... even below Homelander himself. Of course, with my capability, experience, skills, technique, and everything else, I can overwhelm him."
MJ – Damn! Why couldn't it be the Black Noir who watched animated images on the wall?! That one was even likable!
Allen laughed. If it had been that Black Noir, the one who took beatings from Soldier Boy, there wouldn't be a Homelander by now.
...
Black Noir escaped with Homelander in tow. He glanced at Maeve, who had watched the fight without intervening, even when Homelander was at a disadvantage.
Edgar will find out about this... Black Noir thought as he left. Despite everything, he wasn't a foolish sadist. Black Noir assessed and noticed Homelander's dire situation, so he decided to help him while having fun.
Why would he help Homelander? For the same reason, he hadn't killed Homelander. As long as Homelander wasn't a threat to Vought, Black Noir would remain his companion and ally.
...
"Yes, Homelander and Queen Maeve are doing their best to ensure the safety of the passengers!"
Madelyn smiled at the cameras during the press conference. Her smile was perfect and her gaze kind. Anyone would think she was a good person, but she wasn't. Madelyn Stillwell was complicit in raising Homelander into the narcissistic psychopath he had become and also in creating the abomination that was Black Noir.
She glanced at her phone and read the message from her military informant.
– Drones have confirmed that the plane is safe and heading to the coast –
Madelyn almost laughed at the good news. 'After two days of hell, we can finally face the public with our heads held high,' she thought.
Madelyn smiled toward the cameras "I know recent events may affect your trust in The Seven, but I am pleased to inform you that our hero, our savior, the man who watches over everyone's peace, has saved the plane, stopped the hijackers, and brought relief to us all."
People at home were thrilled, and the press erupted in excitement over this great news. Madelyn smiled amid the camera flashes and questions.
'In the end, it doesn't matter if there's an incident or two. For us, nothing is impossible...'
...
An hour later, the plane descended slowly from the sky in an unnatural manner. This left people speechless. They had thought Homelander had defeated the hijackers and that the plane would continue without problems.
But it was even more impressive.
Madelyn was astonished but immediately instructed everyone to focus the cameras on this historic moment. However, she was secretly afraid of Homelander's power.
'Since when can he do something like this...'
As the plane descended, high-definition cameras captured a figure beneath the aircraft, focusing on a white, flowing cape covered with a faint golden energy.
Madelyn dropped her phone...
Butcher watched from afar with a mocking smile.
"Take that, bitch!!"
