Chapter 21- Only way?

"Wait...if what you say is true then how come only yesterday I was affected by that strange energy and not before....or maybe..." A dreadful assumption flashed across his mind which left Ryouya speechless.

If what the Guide said about the veil of light energy is true then he should have been affected by it every time. After all, Ryouya was an incubus since birth. And if he had turned frenzy every time he was struck by that sensation, then Ryouya might have been doing such vile things with other women all these times.

It might sound ridiculous but it wasn't impossible.

However, the system had a different theory on this.

[It wasn't like that. Before your second awakening, your Demonic energy was so little that the amount that got affected by that Veil was also minimal. However, now you are phasing toward your supernatural side and adapting to your real self.]

Ryouya quirked his brows, not completely sure what the Guide just said but trimming all the unnecessary stuff he enquired what concerned him most, "So this was my first time going berserk?"

[Yeah, but surely it wouldn't be last.]

Relief and trepidation washed over him at once reading the letters. If what the System informed him about the Light Energy Veil is true then it would happen every week and Ryouya would end up raping someone, possibly his family members on regular occasions.

'No...this is not the way...it couldn't go like this...'

Turning his gaze toward the front, Ryouya asked the obvious in this situation, "What can I do to avoid that berserk state of mine? I understand Kaede might have some affection toward me that's why she hasn't reported me to the police or is willing to act normal around me, but this cannot be repeated nor I can allow anyone else to get crushed under the burden of my weird circumstances."

Even though Ryouya remains out of his home during weekends when this protection barrier is being cast, Ryouya surely would end up hurting a random woman or maybe an animal, that kind of hunger he possessed last night.

[There are two ways...actually one. You have to increase your Demonic energy to the limit before you can start practicing some of the defensive skills. Unless you are not prepared for your third awakening, you have to go through the trials of a regular demon by building immunity against Light through skills and such.]

Reading the content, Ryouya couldn't help asking, "And what if I dive into my third awakening?"Ryouya didn't have a plan on getting another set of weird skills and any more damage to his moral compass than it had already incurred.

However, if keeping the people around him safe and helping Ryouta retain his normal stress-free life can only be possible after his third awakening, then he would have no option other than to embrace the inevitable.

[Third Awakening, or to say, your true form as an incubus would allow you to repel light-based skills without any difficulty whatsoever. And these Veils would be rendered useless once you regain your true form. However, various things would change in you as well, for which your body isn't prepared as of now.]

That closes the debate then. If he wasn't prepared to face his third awakening, then there was no point in contemplating the prospectus of what he could gain and lose.

Sighing, he took the bottle of fruit juice resting over his table before gulping down the content as he asked the System.

'Then I need to fill my Demonic energy to the brim before I can start preparing for my counter techniques, right?'

[Yes. For starters, it would be the best. And to gain Demonic Energy, you know what you have to do right?]

Ryouya remained in his room for the morning before his mother called him nearly at twelve for lunch.

For some reason he wasn't that hungry, however, he didn't reject her call this time and diligently went to have lunch.

The System told him how he could live only based on his Demonic Energy and the normal food was now just a supplement, no more. The thought of living without the need for delicious food irked him.

"Oh, hey." On the way downstairs, he spotted Kaede walking back to her room with a small towel draped over her shoulders. She had a blue sleeveless t-shirt along with shorts of the same shade and a radiant smile adorning her lips.

She looked...refreshed.

"You aren't coming for lunch....?" Ryouya didn't want to look overly cautious and give her the impression that he was trying to avoid her.

Kaede halted in her way before facing him. A thin grin stretched her lips before she responded, "Well, of course, I would need some heavy meal to replenish my exhaustion."

Ryouya felt a little embarrassed and slightly guilty hearing that since it was no biggy to think why she was spent.

A sudden thought emerged in his mind before he voiced it out, "Umm...are you fine now? I mean, any physical discomfort or need for medication?"

Ryouya wasn't too knowledgeable about things like these since the first experience he had was a traumatic one, something he wanted to forget.

Naturally, Ryouya had desires to bed a woman he loved with all the care and gentleness but now things have taken an unexpected turn.

"Hmm...well it feels like your thing is still inside of me."

Seeing her caressing her belly softly, Ryouya grew flustered. He never had heard Kaede speaking so casually about things like these. Heck, she hadn't even talked to him for this long since a while.

Seeing the reaction from brother, Kaede giggled before assuring him, "Don't worry, I am fine...rather, I am a little too fine that it scares me."

Briefly reading the system message and hearing Kaede's words, Ryouya was able to relax a bit. Kaede said she would be joining the table soon so he didn't hold her for long and walked away.

'Supernatural you say...how?' If Ryouya remembers correctly then one is either born with a special bloodline or awakens their skills at a certain age to be called a superhuman.

However, once again, he was proven to be very least knowledgeable about this side of reality.

[There's a way for you to forcibly awaken your partner through a ritual that would allow them to assist you at times and protect themselves as well.]

Ryouya raised his brows at that. He wasn't sure about this ritual thingy but he had a feeling that he would surely get involved in this.

"Ah, Ryouya. Please have a seat. " Aiko greeted him with a radiant smile, showcasing how wonderfully she was enjoying her weekend.

Ryouya nodded before taking his seat as another message popped up from the system.

[So...how are you gonna gain Demonic Energy?]

Ryouya took a deep breath with his knuckles supporting his chin further down the table. With his eyes trained to the front, he muttered under his breath.

'Once again...I am going to do something I might come to regret.'
