A Change In Genre 2

(Mizuki Shiranui POV)

Opening my eyes, I saw my old room, a reminder of simpler days. Getting out of bed, I opened my bedroom door, and to my surprise, I saw my mother with her blue hair and red eyes and my brown-haired father sitting at the table smiling at me.

As I stood at the doorway, my mother walked over and placed her hand over my cheek as tears fell from my eyes.

"Did that kid do something to you, my little princess? I will flay him alive!" My father asked as he grabbed his shovel and spear, to which I started to laugh through the tears seeing his act.

My mother then slapped him down as she said, " Honey, we can't threaten our daughter's husband. We must first cut off his balls and then make him apologize." Mother, that is not much better!

Looking at them, I say, "It's alright. I'm just happy to see you again. Can't you stay with me?" I asked with my voice growing all the more shaky. They then shook their heads as they hugged me closely.

"Always my princess. Always." Father says as he holds us close.

"There is no need for tears anymore, my beautiful daughter. We will always be with you." My father walked over and pulled both of us into a hug, and the warmth did little to stop the flow of tears as I cried and sobbed into their shoulders, but after what felt like hours, I looked into their eyes and saw how proud they were of me.

"I love you, Mother, Father." They then disappeared as the house disintegrated, turning into flowing hills and endless skies. I looked up at the coming dawn with awe at the pure beauty of the scenery before me.

It was as if Lady Amaterasu herself had risen just for me. A small smile graced my face as I watched the sunrise on a new day, but I wondered if this was a dream or not, only to be reminded of reality when I heard that same teasing voice from yesterday.

"It seems that my wife loves to watch the sunrise. It's nice to know we have so much in common." Looking above me, I saw my husband holding me in his lap and holding me tightly.

But what confused me was that even though the sunrise was beautiful, it was the middle of winter, so it should have been decently cold at one of the peaks surrounding Gosha Village, but I felt nothing.

" It seems that my wife feels very comfortable next to me. Truly a good improvement from before. But you seem calmer than yesterday. That's good." Looking at his blue eyes, I feel as if I could get lost in their radiance. His face was a picture of both innocence and intelligence.

"Please keep complimenting me. Really stroke my ego." I blushed as I realized I said that out loud. I tried to turn away, but he simply kept me looking at him as we sat on what looked to be a bench.

"Are you feeling better?" He asked as I stopped trying to look away as the more serious yet worried tone struck a chord within me.

Looking back to the sunrise, I took a deep breath and nodded as he placed a hand on my head. We sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, simply watching the sun rise before us.

"I know I can't replace your parents, and I hope never to do so. But since we are in this till the end, why not enjoy it?" He then held me tightly as I placed an arm over his shoulder.

"That sounds nice, Mizuki-Sama," I respond diligently as he then places a finger on my mouth.

"Firstly, since we are equals now, it shall be Yato. Try saying it." As he asked this, a small idea formed in my head.

"No," I say with a spiteful smile.

"Why not?" He asks with an almost amused tone.

"You have not called me by name yet, so I shall not return the gesture." Smirking to myself, he simply gripped my sides and placed me right in front of himself."

Moving closer to my ear, he whispered, " Shiranui, yes, that's a nice name. Maybe I should call you ribbons instead, though, seeing your apparent enjoyment of them." he then gestured to my hair ribbons given by my mother.

"With all due respect, Yato, if you call me ribbons, I will castrate you."

"Not even two days into the marriage, and I'm already being threatened by my wife! I have to write down this milestone for our relationship!" He then takes out a notepad and writes down the date in milliseconds.

"You are a very strange boy." He seems to preen at the statement.

"We are ninjas that have been bred with the blood of demons and can use supernatural powers. Being strange is a compliment. But regardless, now that we are on a first-name basis, is there anything you want to do today?" As he asks this, he stands up and begins walking down the hill with me in his arms.

"Don't you have practice or training?" He looked almost apathetic at that, but his energy seemed to return as quickly as it had disappeared.

"No, the clan itself doesn't really pay attention to me. Most of what I know is self-taught." He is self-taught!

I couldn't use my Tamara Particles without my parents' help and supervision! My surprised expression made him smile even more confidently, which annoyed me for some reason.

"Well, I am the best after all." He then began flexing his other arm, but due to the fact that he was ten, there wasn't much there.

But the pure absurdity of this does make a small chuckle come forth as he looked appalled. " I will have you know that these gains have been accumulated from years of training."

I looked back to his arm and back to his face with a normal expression as I then began to pat him on the head. He dips his head in sadness as I try to cheer up my husband.

"But in all seriousness, no one in your clan teaches you how to use your clan's arts?" the question seemed just to roll off him as he kept walking.

"Well, I assume you understand the position that unwanted children have within our clans. I was never even supposed to be born in the first place. Most of what I've learned is what I have figured out on my own or gained from watching my clan during their training. But with enough effort, I shall call down lighting like great adulterer himself!" Picturing my husband calling down storms of lighting is a rather interesting sight.

"What about you ribbons? Have you progressed at all with your arts?" There is that nickname again!

"My mother left me a decent amount of knowledge, and my father gave me scrolls for his illusion arts for me to use once I mastered my basic water arts. Right now, though, I can only use my taima particles to infuse my water with a reinforced edge." He seemed to nod at that. I saw a rather thoughtful expression on his face.

He then began mumbling to himself about breathing forms and anime. At the same time, I tried to understand a word he was saying as he was speaking in English. Although I have to admit that his English and Japanese are almost perfect, in fact, it's almost as if Japanese was a second language to him.

Yato then stopped and asked me, " Hey, ribbons, do you want to spar with me?"

Is this my chance for vengeance? For all the embarrassment he has sullied me with! I thank the gracious gods for this chance!

"Of course, husband. I will always be ready for a good spar." I try to hide my excitement from him through a normal smile, but he simply starts jumping through the air!

He just jumped off the cliff! But as I thought we would start falling, I felt a stopping force as I reopened my eyes and saw his legs inside the cliffside! I gave him an angered glare as he kept that same damn smile on his face.

"Are you insane!"

"Yes." My husband answered almost immediately.

As he continues to run down the cliffside towards the village, I wonder if I will survive my husband's ridiculous stunts.
