A SUDDEN LIGHT II

The next day, Mum was unable to take Isabel and me to school due to a splitting headache caused by work stress. Concerned for her well-being, I urged her to rest, and she reassured me that she had already obtained permission from work. I was relieved to hear this. That morning, she arranged for a taxi which took both Isabel and me to school.

As I sat in the taxi on the way to school, my thoughts were consumed with a bunch of what if's, all leading to Rex. What if he didn't show up? What if I saw him but he refused to listen? Or worse, what if he no longer wanted to be friends because of how I had abruptly ended things and pushed him away heartlessly.

With a stubborn determination, I resolved in my mind that even if Rex pushed me away repeatedly, I wouldn't give up. I would continue seeking out his friendship, even if it meant going to Ms. Sophie.
