The Tragic Future

"We share the same goal of holding Trisk accountable. However, I'm reluctant to drag innocent people into this war. Many civilians are blameless, and we must not harm them," Charles sighed deeply.

"Yes, civilians are innocent. Unfortunately, this world has seldom been led by civilians!" Alex shook his head.

"Charles, civilians often don't have a choice. The government could easily blame us for everything, turning those innocent civilians into a mob attacking Mutants out of rage. What will you do then?"

Alex illustrated his point by picking up a pencil from the desk, standing it upright, and continued, "Charles, consider this: since World War II, what has ensured global peace? Nothing but the nuclear bomb! Adequate deterrence is necessary to maintain peace!"

"We must demonstrate our strength and make them aware that any attack on Mutants will result in the detonation of a nuclear bomb. It's a guarantee for Mutant safety!" Alex proposed.

Charles fell into silence.

"Eric will be that nuclear bomb! As long as he doesn't actually detonate, he can secure a period of peace for us. Meanwhile, I, with the support of SHIELD and Stark Industries, will work on integrating Mutants into society. Perhaps as legislators or governors, to change people's perceptions about Mutants," Alex revealed his plan.

"Perhaps you're right," Charles conceded, a sense of inevitability settling between them.

Magneto and Charles, each playing a different role—one advocating confrontation, the other diplomacy. Was this the future pattern?

"Professor! Professor! Someone is looking for you!" A student called Roar from outside the living room.

Soon after, a formidable figure pushed open the door and entered the room.

"Ah, you..."

As the burly man entered and laid eyes on Alex sitting on the sofa, a visible shock spread across his face. Turning pale, he instinctively considered making a hasty retreat.

"Logan?"

Charles, surprised by Logan's sudden appearance, turned to Alex with questioning eyes. "Is this what you meant? Did you anticipate he'd show up sooner or later?"

In the "First Battle," Charles and Erik approached Logan, only to be summarily dismissed with a curt "Fuck you" before they could finish their sentence. Subsequently, Alex sought out Logan and subjected him to a severe beating.

"Are you scared of me?" Alex taunted, a smile playing on his lips as he gazed at Logan.

"I... I ain't scared of you!" Logan mumbled, visibly shrinking at the memory of the brutal thrashing he endured.

"Logan, you've come to me for... what exactly?" Charles eyed Logan suspiciously. The beastly Wolverine hadn't changed his ways, so why the unexpected visit?

"I... uh... it's hard to explain."

Logan shook his head, pointing at his own head. "Just take a look for yourself! Check out my memories, and everything will be crystal clear!"

"See it for myself?"

Charles raised an eyebrow inquisitively, activating his psychic powers to delve into Logan's memories.

"It's unbelievable..."

Witnessing Logan's memories, the glimpse of a tragic future, a world on the brink of extinction where both humans and Mutants faced annihilation, Charles jumped in astonishment.

"How can this be? How can this be?"

Charles took a sharp breath. "Alex, have a look as well. Raven, get Eric back immediately. We're in deep trouble!"

"Trouble?"

Raven observed Charles in a state of panic, an unfamiliar sight, prompting her to hastily leave the room in search of Eric, who strode away in anger.

"Returning from the future to the present? How dire is the future?" Alex questioned, his brow furrowed upon witnessing the bleak images within Wolverine's memories.

Swiftly employing his psychic abilities, Alex reached out to Emma and Jessica. "This must be halted! It must be stopped!" Charles, visibly distressed, trembled as the gravity of the situation weighed on him, causing concern for those he cared about.

"Hold on, you're saying Raven is the linchpin in all of this?" Alex, deep in thought, touched his chin and directed his gaze at Wolverine. "In your future, Trisk obtained Raven's genes, ultimately creating the true Sentinel. Now, how did Trisk manage to acquire Raven's genes?"

Raven trailed alongside Alex, skeptical of Trisk's abilities. Despite Trisk's advancements, Eric alone could seemingly counteract his Mutant detector and initial robot.

"There's no guarantee that Raven won't get hurt. And there are various ways to obtain her genes—hair, or even during her monthly cycle," Logan interjected, turning his head with a cold resolve. "So, cutting off this possibility at the source is the key."

"The source?" Alex shot Wolverine a stern look, his expression cold. "Logan, you better not entertain such thoughts, or you'll your end, even with your regenerative healing factor."

No one dared to lay a hand on Alex's woman.
