Winston to the Rescue

Logan woke up after his 2 hours of sleep. He did end up going out and reminding the criminals that there were consequences for crime even when Devilbat and Nightwing weren't around. I saw the Signal light for Devilbat but didn't want to answer it as I was chasing a group of drug dealers in my Xenomorph form at the time. I was getting good enough with my mixing of The Red and my Martian powers to make all my forms bulletproof and my strength naturally carried over. The color change was still proving to be a struggle, but I could now change the shades of green to really light or really dark green.

Stretching and yawning, he then grabbed his phone and sent his morning text to Pam and told her he would be stopping by to drop off his gift around 9 unless she was busy. He then went outside for his morning play time with the guard dogs Sylvester, Kurt, Tango, and Cash. He enjoyed roughhousing with them before they got put away for the day. As usual, Kurt just headed for the kennel while me and the rest played tag until they were ready for bed.

After he settled them, he jumped on his bike and rode to the stadium for his morning workout. He wasn't increasing the weight much, but he was doing more reps to keep the body style he wanted. One of his random thoughts during his workout was that he really didn't need to use the workout equipment anymore. With his telekinesis, he could just use it on anything he lifted and that would be a great workout, especially with it keeping pace with his physical strength. A double workout would work wonders.

Checking the time, Logan took a shower and used his shape-changing power to look like he was wearing black jeans with combat boots and a black T-shirt that reads [Science Doesn't Care What You Believe!]. He then jumped on his bike and rode to the Wayne Botanical Garden to drop off his gift for Pam. When he got there, he saw a bunch of Gotham Police Department cars and a coroner truck. Walking inside he saw Fred who took him to Pam yesterday and walked up to him. "Hey Fred, I am here to see Pam again. What's with all the flashy lights?"

Fred, "I remember you from yesterday, there was an accident in the lab, but the rules require it to be run through the GPD regardless. You can head back and see if they will let you see Dr. Isley, here is a visitors' badge."

"Thanks, Fred." Logan took the badge and headed for Pam's office. Once through the doors, he saw Pam showing her work badge to an officer and then duck under some police tape. I took in the view and saw 2 uniformed GPD officers and one detective taking notes. Two guys in full coveralls were zipping up a body bag but all I was able to make out was some dark hair before it was closed. It also looked like a crime tech was taking pictures of everything in the office. He looked at the door to the office the body was in and saw it was Pam's friend Luisa.

As I walked up, I overheard a man in a casual suit talking to the detective, "Gotham Botanical Garden is a Prestigious Institution. We can't have a word of this getting into the news!"

An elderly gentleman in a wheelchair, "Shut up Victor, and calm down. The officers know what they are doing."

The detective looked at the man in the suit and said, "And you are?"

Victor, "Victor Lee, Head administrator here at the lab. This is Doctor Eric Grimley, chair of the research department." he pointed to the gentleman in the wheelchair. "I am sure your supervisors will agree, this is clearly an accident detective."

Detective, "We'll be the judge of that, Mister Lee. Who was the last person to see Doctor Cruz alive?"

A young man with a short purple mohawk, "Me, Sir. Darshan Bapna. I work here. She was fine when I left the Lab last night. I mean, she seemed a little distracted..."

Pam's voice cut through the discussion, "You think this was an accident?"

The Detective looked over seeing Pam, "And this is who now?"

Victor, "Doctor Isley, one of the new researchers here. She is the one who found the body... This morning."

Pam, "Luisa... Dr. Cruz was not a careless person. There is no way she would have poisoned herself. I would know. I have worked closely with her on several transgenic experiments. She was my colleague."

Detective, "Looks like it happened sometime during the night. Is anything missing from the lab?"

Victor, "Nothing. Stop trying to make this into a crime scene Detective."

Pam looked at Victor (Hmm... What is Victor trying to hide?)

Detective, "Doctor Isley, when did you see Doctor Cruz last?"

As Logan got to the police line he mentally suggested to the officer that he was good to be in the area as he continued to listen.

Pam, "We were handling a school visit by some Gotham Academy students when a friend dropped by. It had been a long day, Dr. Cruz suggested I show him around the Garden and then we left to blow off some steam. Then I went home."

Detective, "Where can I find this friend of yours?"

Pam really didn't want to drag Logan into this, "You don't really need to talk to him, do you?"

A man's voice came from the corridor, "You don't need to hide the truth, Pam..." Winston stepped in from around the corner and said, "She was with me last night. I didn't want these old guys to know I'm... Doing the new girl."

Eric Grimley, "See? What did I tell you, Victor? Women in the lab are nothing but distractions."

"Close your mouth Winston, the shit spewing out stinks. Pam... Dr. Isley was with me. It was just like she said, she showed me around the Garden and then we went to the park. Shortly after that, I dropped her off at home. It was about 10:30 at night." Logan surprised everyone as he spoke.

Pam had a shocked look on her face. (Damnit, I forgot to tell him not to come. I completely forgot after finding Luisa.)

Detective "And you are?"

"My name is Logan J'onzz, I came here yesterday to pick Dr. Isley up for a date, and as she said we walked around the grounds and Pam introduced me to all the wonders of this Garden and then we went to Crown Park. You can check with security and see the times I logged my visitor's badge in and out."

Detective, "Then why would Dr. Isley hesitate to give us your information?"

Logan, "I can only speculate on her behalf but as it was our first date, I doubt she was thrilled to bring me into an investigation. It could also have been because, on our way to the park, we didn't exactly follow all the rules of the road."

The detective got a gleam in his eyes and said, "Can you prove you were at Crown Park around 10:00? Maybe something that stuck out?"

Logan put a disgusted look on his face, "Look officer, I know it's a free country and the park's nickname is "Devils Square!", but you should really have some patrol cars drive by more often. We went to get our bikes to head home and there was a group of bikers... Well, they were engaging in activities with each other. How am I supposed to wash that out of my brain on our first date? We were lucky to get out of there before clothes came off."

The detective frowned as he hoped he had caught this Logan J'onzz in a lie, but from the talk around the office this morning the Son's of the Devil's biker gang were picked up for lewd conduct early in the morning. It was the talk of the whole precinct, apparently, some of them needed medical attention for prolonged sexual activity. He decided to take the name Logan J'onzz down just in case.

The detective looked at Winston and knew the guy was just trying to get in good with the beautiful Dr. Isley. He clicked his pen put his notebook in his jacket and said, "Okay, I think I'm done here. We'll get back to you with any other questions."
