His heart warmed as he saw her dependence on him. He couldn't put it into words, but it felt good.
Alexander grinned. "Of course, I do."
Astra's eyes softened, and she planted a kiss on his cheek. Alexander's grin widened. Astra began to eat.
Silas felt like the universe was conspiring against him, making reconciliation with his daughter an impossible task.
Astra already suspected his intentions, and now she might think he attempted to poison her. He apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, Astra. I didn't know they'd serve coquille on the menu."
