Chapter 249: What? Vision is Actually Revived

"Talking about the Bermuda Triangle is nonsense, but something strange did happen in this small town," James Rhodes said.

"What I want to know is, what is S.W.O.R.D.?" Bruce Banner asked. "We already have S.H.I.E.L.D., isn't that enough? Why do we need S.W.O.R.D.?"

"S.W.O.R.D. is similar in nature to S.H.I.E.L.D., but with a different focus. S.W.O.R.D. specializes in resolving interstellar conflicts," Nick Fury explained.

"Resolving interstellar conflicts?" Thor almost burst out laughing upon hearing this. "Isn't Thanos an interstellar conflict? It sounds like that's S.W.O.R.D.'s job. But I haven't seen their shadow in any videos!"

"If Thanos' invasion is the future, then Loki's invasion and the invasion of the Chitauri have already happened, yet we haven't seen S.W.O.R.D. either," Tony Stark said. "So what are they doing?"

"Because they don't have superheroes like us," Nick Fury said. "They're not like S.H.I.E.L.D., with Thor, Banner, and Tony. They only have a group of scientists working on various advanced technologies. They're not suited for frontline combat."

"So, they resolve interstellar conflicts with diplomacy?" Steve Rogers found it hard to believe. "Is that possible?"

"It's not likely, but if Carol is involved, then it becomes possible," Nick Fury said.

"Is Captain Marvel part of S.W.O.R.D.?" Steve Rogers asked.

"She probably isn't. I'm not sure, I haven't been in touch with her for a long time," Nick Fury said. "But the founder of S.W.O.R.D. is Carol's close friend, so it's not strange that they can contact her."

"So, who is the founder of S.W.O.R.D.?" Bruce Banner asked.

"When the Skrulls and the Kree came to Earth, it wasn't just me and Carol who got involved. Carol's friend, Maria Rambeau, also participated, though she didn't play a significant role. Later, she founded S.W.O.R.D. to handle interstellar affairs," Nick Fury explained.

"Today it's S.W.O.R.D., could there be another organization like Sky Spear tomorrow?" Tony Stark mumbled and then added, "Speaking of superheroes on Earth, we pretty much know each other, except for Carol. We've known about her for a long time, but we've never met her."

"There will be a chance," Nick Fury said, then shook his head. "Actually, I hope there's never a chance. If I never have to call Carol back, it means Earth will never face another doomsday."

"Will there be a chance?" Scott Lang was shocked upon hearing this. "Fury, from what you're saying, do you not plan to call her during the Thanos fight?"

"We'll see, because with the expanding scope of our knowledge about the future, our own abilities are getting stronger. And by the time Thanos invades, which is still a few years away, maybe we really won't need to call her," Nick Fury explained.

"Are we going off-topic here?" James Rhodes reminded them. "You've been talking so much, but you haven't discussed the question yet. Luckily, you're not a novel, or readers would be cursing you for all this chatter."

"Alright, to avoid the reader's wrath, let's discuss the question," Tony Stark said. "I don't know who it is, but I know it's definitely not me. I can't imagine a reason why I would go to New Jersey and wipe out a town."

"Tony, that's not an exclusionary reason. Just because you can't imagine doing it doesn't mean that others in the options don't have a reason to do it," Phil Coulson said. "Monica in the video is all grown up, so the incident definitely happened in the future. You can't imagine it now because you lack knowledge about the future, you lack information about what led to the event and its consequences. But that doesn't mean you won't do it in the future."

"Alright, let's talk from a technical perspective," Tony Stark said. "If I can create an energy force field that 'eats people,' then erasing a town's population from people's minds is something I simply can't do."

"Science can't achieve this, only magic can," Bruce Banner said.

"In that case, Carol can also be ruled out," Nick Fury said. "She doesn't know magic either, and she can't erase people's memories like that."

"Since we're talking about memory erasure, do we really need to discuss this question? There's more than one person here who understands magic, but as for manipulating people's minds, there's only one likely candidate," Thor's gaze fell on Wanda Maximoff.

"The Kamartaj spells are numerous. Although Stephen has never shown any brain manipulation abilities, we can't rule out that he knows mind control spells," Bruce Banner said. "So, someone who also knows magic like Stephen has suspicions too."

"That's right, I indeed have suspicions, but they're much smaller than Wanda's," Stephen Strange said.

"I agree, my suspicions are the strongest," Wanda Maximoff said. "Although I have no idea why I would do something like that in the future."

"Wanda, answer the question," Nick Fury said. "You don't know why you did it."

"I choose B!" Wanda Maximoff made her choice.

[Answer correct! Reward distributed!]

Then, Wanda Maximoff's hands emitted a flash of red light and returned to normal.

Those hands showed no signs of anything unusual.

"This reward, it sounds similar in style to the Wuhu Duanmen Blade, is this also a form of Eastern martial arts?" Nick Fury asked.

"Exactly, this is an extremely powerful martial art," Wanda Maximoff said. "Even if I didn't have superpowers, just with this technique alone, I could be a superhero."

"Very impressive." Pietro Maximoff seemed even happier than Wanda. "Wanda, now you have close combat abilities too."

"I counted, and so far, the question space has rewarded us with various forms of power systems. One type is Eastern martial arts, like Wanda's Nine Yin White Bone Claw, the Wuhu Duanmen Blade from earlier, and the Hitting Fist. Another type includes Bruce's Shadow Imitation Technique and Thor's Thunder Chop, ninja techniques. Then there's Wanda's Substitution White Queen, which is a new system distinct from the other three," Clint Barton enthusiastically summarized.

"Previously, Stephen answered a question and the reward was a Devil Fruit. Although he didn't get it right, we don't know what the Devil Fruit looks like, but it does sound like a new power system," Natasha Romanoff added.

At this moment, light appeared in the space, and a video started playing.

The scene began in a car with Daisy Johnson and a few others sitting inside.

"Hey, what's your expertise?" Daisy Johnson asked one of the guys wearing glasses.

"We're not supposed to talk," the guy with glasses said.

"You're the Boy Scout leader, understood," Daisy Johnson then turned to an older woman, "How about you?"

"Nuclear biology," the older woman said.

"Artificial intelligence," the bald man sitting next to Daisy Johnson said.

"Astrophysics," Daisy Johnson couldn't help but comment, "This car is full of talented people. This shows that no matter what threat they're facing, S.W.O.R.D. obviously doesn't know what they're dealing with."

"I'm a chemical engineer," the guy with glasses who initially said they shouldn't talk spoke up.

"Nobody cares," Daisy Johnson responded.

The car stopped at the S.W.O.R.D. response base outside Westview, and a soldier led Daisy Johnson to a pile of equipment. She picked up a device and was surprised.

"What did you find?" the soldier asked.

"A large amount of CMBR," Daisy Johnson said.

"CM..."

"Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation," Daisy Johnson explained.

"We were told that the radiation level is within the safe threshold," the soldier said.

"This is only temporary," Daisy Johnson made a new discovery. "These noises are superimposed with long waves."

Then she had the soldier bring an old television, and after plugging it in, an astonishing scene unfolded: the television played a TV show!

And the protagonist in the picture was none other than Wanda Maximoff and Vision!

The deceased Vision!

"I know there have been many crazy things happening on Earth in recent years, but hasn't he already died?" Daisy Johnson said to James E. Woo, who was standing next to her. "It's not a flicker, he's really dead."

"What's going on?" Acting S.W.O.R.D. Director Tyler Hayward asked in confusion. "What is this? Where did it come from?"

"From over there," Daisy Johnson pointed to Westview.

"Is this real?" Tyler Hayward asked.

"I don't know how to answer that," Daisy Johnson said.

"Is it happening in real-time? Was it pre-recorded? Or is it fabricated?" Tyler Hayward had a series of questions.

"I don't know, I don't know, I still don't know," Daisy Johnson repeated three times.

"Then what do you know?" Tyler Hayward asked.

"My device detected a high level of CMBR wrapped around a broadcasting frequency, so I had your men get me a cute old television. After I plugged it in, look, there's sound and visuals," Daisy Johnson explained, "So you're saying the universe created a situational comedy with two Avengers as the main characters?"

"This theory is still under development," Daisy Johnson said.

"Take me back to headquarters now," Tyler Hayward, taken aback by this astonishing discovery, urgently requested.

The group of Avengers in the question space were also not calm.

"What the heck? Wanda and Vision, why would they star in a sitcom together?" Clint Barton couldn't help but say, "And how does this relate to the unexplained disappearances of Westview's residents?"

"Considering the before and after of the plot, it seems that the residents of Westview were all cast in this sitcom," Tony Stark said.

"But if they were just acting in a sitcom, wouldn't it be enough to pay them? Why wipe out an entire town?" Scott Lang questioned, puzzled.

"Right now, the most crucial point is Vision, isn't it?" Natasha Romanoff pointed out. "Vision was clearly dead, yet he reappeared in that sitcom."

"Wanda, do you know why you 'kidnapped' the residents of a town to act in a sitcom with you?" Steve Rogers asked Wanda Maximoff.

"For a sitcom, it's because I've loved sitcoms since I was young," Wanda Maximoff shook her head, "But to act in a sitcom, I made a whole town's people disappear, and I don't know why."

"First of all, our main goal is to obtain information about Captain Rambeau," in the video, James E. Woo was assigning tasks, "But initially, it was a case of missing persons, so we start from there..."

Then, the group began the identification work, one by one identifying Westview's residents from the sitcom, where they all played different roles.

Soon, they found Monica Rambeau in the sitcom as well, but like the other townspeople, she played a role in the show.

"Is that true?" Daisy Johnson, shocked, dropped her instant noodles on the ground. She turned to James E. Woo and asked, "Do you think she looks okay?"

"She doesn't seem to have suffered any harm," James E. Woo said. "But she definitely isn't the commanding woman I met yesterday."

"Could she be undercover?" Daisy Johnson speculated. "Monica has to pretend to cooperate?"

"Cooperate with who? Or rather, cooperate with what?" James E. Woo said, getting to the point, "Dr. Lewis, focus. What is going on? Is this an alternate reality? Time travel? Or some absurd social experiment?"

James E. Woo guessed correctly; this was indeed an alternate reality, a surreal reality where only a handful of people, including Wanda Maximoff, were awake, while everyone else was like marionettes in a ridiculous reality.

The plot of this absurd reality also led to an even more absurd turn of events: Wanda Maximoff had actually given birth to a pair of twins!

Although Vision was a robot and didn't have the capability to impregnate someone, Wanda Maximoff still gave birth to children!

"Can you believe it? A pair of twins?" Monica Rambeau stood by the baby crib, looking at the twins.

"I'm also a twin," Wanda Maximoff said. "I have a brother named Pietro."

"Was he killed by Ultron, right?" Monica Rambeau suddenly said.

"What did you say?" Tears welled up in Wanda Maximoff's eyes. "What did you just say?"

"I said, Wanda, you're really strong," Monica Rambeau said, sitting on the couch. "Do you want me to repeat it?"

"What did you just say about Pietro?" Wanda Maximoff wasn't fooled.

"Pietro, I..." Monica Rambeau opened her mouth and then shifted the topic, "How about I help you take care of the kids?"

"No, you should leave," Wanda Maximoff asked, "Who are you really?"
