Chapter 165: Super God of Thunder, A Close Call with a Grand Finale

Steve Rogers and Thanos struggled for a while, but Thanos finally lost patience. He raised his right hand and punched Steve Rogers in the face, sending him flying.

Even Captain America, who could activate the "Five for Fighting" field, was knocked down. This time, no one could stop Thanos anymore. He took step by step towards Wanda and Vision.

At this moment, Wanda Maximoff was in the process of destroying the Mind Stone. When she saw Thanos approaching, she turned around, extended her left hand, and shot an energy beam towards him.

Facing the attacks from all the heroes before, Thanos could easily defeat them all, except for Captain America, who could temporarily hold him back with the "Five for Fighting" field. However, he found it quite challenging to make progress against Wanda Maximoff's attack. Each step was extremely difficult.

"It's okay, I love you," Vision looked at Wanda Maximoff and softly said those words.

The next moment, cracks appeared on the Mind Stone on his forehead, and then it shattered with a bang.

Wanda Maximoff's power was fully demonstrated at this moment. She destroyed the gem with one hand while attacking Thanos with the other, multitasking with remarkable focus, managing to hold off Thanos and successfully destroy the gem!

"Scarlet Witch is indeed incredibly powerful!" Stephen Strange couldn't help but exclaim, "Much more powerful than I imagined."

"If she hadn't been distracted by destroying the gem and focused solely on dealing with Thanos, I wonder if she could have beaten him?" Natasha Romanoff said.

"She probably couldn't," Wanda Maximoff said, "If she could, why would I have made that choice? I cried when I saw it in the video."

"Wanda, is your other half a robot?" Pietro Maximoff's expression was somewhat strange. "I don't mean to judge your taste, but I thought my sister would at least be interested in a human."

"Don't look at me; I don't know why I have that kind of relationship with Vision," Wanda Maximoff looked bewildered. "Vision is clearly not my type."

"If it makes sense, then it's not love," Tony Stark said.

"Vision sacrificed himself for the universe, he's a hero," Steve Rogers said. "He deserves our respect."

The video continued to play. After Wanda Maximoff killed her beloved, she lost her strength and lay down on the ground.

"I know you're sad, child, and I completely understand," Thanos slowly walked over, speaking to Wanda Maximoff as if he were a father talking to his daughter. He didn't seem angry about what Wanda had just done to him.

"Don't give me this nonsense," Wanda Maximoff looked up at Thanos and said.

"You don't know how much I lost today," Thanos said, touching Wanda Maximoff's head with one hand. "Now is not the time to cry. There are more important things to do."

Thanos stepped forward, extended his left hand, and a green light appeared in his palm. He slightly turned the light screen, and suddenly a bright light appeared at the scene. Then, piece by piece, fragments began to gather, and a brand-new Vision reappeared!

"Time reversal!" In the answer space, Stephen Strange's face changed.

"So powerful, and he can even reverse time. How can we fight him?" Steve Rogers, who never admits defeat, also felt the immense pressure. "Let alone that we are no match for him, even if someone can miraculously hurt him, he can reverse time and erase all the damage. How can we fight this battle?"

"Strange, this time reversal is done using the Time Stone, right?" Bruce Banner said in a deep voice, "So, if you get the Time Stone, you have to be careful not to let it fall into Thanos's hands again."

"Bruce is right, the Time Stone must not be given to Thanos," Tony Stark also said, "I am grateful that you saved me, but for the greater good, we absolutely cannot give it to Thanos. My life alone is insignificant."

"No!!" In the video, Wanda Maximoff saw Vision being resurrected, and with a loud roar, she got up from the ground and rushed towards Thanos.

Perhaps her emotions were too chaotic; this time, Wanda Maximoff was knocked down just like the other heroes by Thanos.

Thanos extended his left hand and grabbed Vision by the neck, lifting him up. Then, he reached out his right hand and directly plucked the Mind Stone from Vision's head.

Snap!

Then he casually threw Vision's lifeless body aside like garbage.

With five stones already on the gauntlet, Thanos now acquired the stone from Vision, finally completing the set of six Infinity Stones!

Snap!

He fitted the Mind Stone onto the gauntlet as well.

At that moment, the gauntlet emitted a dazzling rainbow light, and lightning-like energy flowed over Thanos, causing him to cry out in pain despite his incredible strength.

It could be seen that the Infinity Gauntlet wasn't something anyone could just put on. If the body wasn't strong enough, the gauntlet would likely kill the wearer.

When the colorful light dissipated, Thanos looked at his left hand, now wearing the gauntlet with all six stones. However, before he could do anything, a magnificent lightning struck down from the sky, hitting Thanos directly, sending him flying more than ten meters away.

In the sky, Thor, wielding his axe, was flying towards them. He was bathed in lightning, even his eyes were dazzling with thunder, truly magnificent.

Thanos got up from the ground, extended his left hand, and a thick beam of light shot directly at Thor. Thor threw his axe, and it spun like a whirlwind, slashing towards Thanos.

The axe and the beam of light clashed in mid-air, and the axe was like a hot knife through butter, breaking through Thanos's beam of light, nailing into his chest with a thud.

"I said it," Thor landed on the ground and pushed the axe into Thanos's chest step by step, "I will personally kill you."

"Ah!!" Thanos opened his mouth wide, starting to scream in pain.

The space darkened, and the video ended there.

"I have to admit, this is really impressive," Tony Stark, the sarcastic one, was the first to give Thor a thumbs up. "Well done, Thor!"

"It was indeed very impressive," Stephen Strange said, "So many people couldn't even lift their heads after being beaten by Thanos, and this is the first time I've seen someone almost cripple Thanos."

"Unfortunately, we still couldn't kill Thanos," Clint Barton said, "Thor, why did you strike his chest? Why not his head? I refuse to believe that he could survive a blow to the head."

"Um..." Thor said, "I'll keep your suggestion in mind. If there comes a day, I'll aim for the head."

"It's a pity. This isn't Thor's first time using an axe. He used it when he teamed up with Captain and Stark to fight Thanos before," Bruce Banner added, "But back then, Thor had messy hair and a rugged look. Now, he has a clean-cut short hairstyle."

"Speaking of short hair, I'm confused. For Thor, his hair was essential. Nothing mattered more to him than his hair, except for his brother Loki. Why did he cut it short?" Clint Barton questioned.

"Unless it wasn't his choice but forced upon him by someone else," Natasha Romanoff said, "Just like the mental guy on Sakaar."

"So, we can roughly guess that the time when Thor attacked Thanos was after he left Sakaar?" Tony Stark speculated.

"But that doesn't add up. When Thor was on Sakaar, he was focused on dealing with Hela, who was in Asgard at the time. Even if he came out, he would first deal with Hela," Bruce Banner pointed out.

"Then it must have been after he dealt with Hela and then faced Thanos," Clint Barton suggested.

"At that time, Thor had only his axe and no hammer. We all know that his hammer was shattered by Hela," Stephen Strange said, "So this battle must have occurred after he left Sakaar. Bruce not turning into Hulk might be related to this."

"During his time on Sakaar, Bruce lived as the Hulk for quite a while. Maybe not turning into the Hulk is indeed related to this," Steve Rogers added.

"Perhaps," Bruce Banner nodded, "Maybe during my time on Sakaar as the Hulk, something happened that I can't recall or imagine right now."

[This round of questioning is over, and respondents should prepare to return.]

And so, the superhero team disappeared from the questioning space.

[Questioning completed, rewards issued.]

Li Cheng started to claim his rewards.

[Host receives Domino Nina Thurman's super-lucky ability to control the probability of possible events.]

"Oh? Super luck?" Li Cheng grinned. "Now I'm not afraid of Thanos snapping his fingers. With a fifty-fifty chance, I'm safe no matter what."

This Nina Thurman might not be a well-known hero to many people, but as a Marvel fan, Li Cheng knew her. She appeared in Deadpool 2, recruited by Deadpool as a team member called the "X-Force." Although this superpower team didn't have top-notch combat abilities, they had various superpowers. However, their first mission ended in disaster, where almost all of them died even if they made a move as simple as parachuting from a helicopter.

With this ability, who would fear Thanos?

[Host receives Sebastian Shaw's power to absorb all forms of energy and convert it into his own energy.]

The second power also pleased Li Cheng.

...

In the hospital:

Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff, and Stephen Strange were all in a daze.

"I can't believe we just went to a magical space," Pietro Maximoff exclaimed, but since he wasn't familiar with Eastern literature, he couldn't find a more accurate description, so he settled for saying it was a surreal experience.

"Pietro, you went into the questioning space too, right?" Wanda Maximoff turned to look at the hospital, wondering if she had experienced an illusion.

"The time we spent inside and outside was consistent," Stephen Strange rolled up his sleeve to check his wristwatch, "Time inside the questioning space was stagnant compared to the outside."

"Flying legs and witch girl, we should be fine now, right?" Clint Barton said, clapping his hands twice, "You won't bring up avenging me and killing me anymore, right?"

"We have a real enemy," Wanda Maximoff said, "So, we're fine now."

"From now on, we're all on the same boat," Clint Barton clapped his hands again and said, "Loki, Thanos, Hela – they are powerful enemies. I hope we can concentrate on dealing with them. In the face of this catastrophe for all of humanity, our personal issues are really not that important."

With that said, everyone's gaze fell on Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, knowing that Clint Barton's words were directed at them.

"Tony, I'm not expecting you to spare Bucky, but let's focus on our enemies first, okay?" Steve Rogers sighed before continuing, "We are friends and comrades, and we have common enemies. When dealing with Loki, Thanos, and Hela, we need to work together. Let's put aside our differences on matters unrelated to Bucky."

"Captain, I understand," Tony Stark turned to Steve Rogers, "Regarding Loki or Thanos or Hela, I'll give it my all."

"What? Bucky killed Tony's parents, and they are on the verge of a rift?" When Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff reported the events of the questioning space to Nick Fury, the agent's brow furrowed higher than when he accidentally angered a cat.

"Yes, Director. Bucky brutally murdered Howard Stark and strangled his wife, and the questioning space showed everything without reservation," Clint Barton said, "Tony witnessed it all."

Chapter 166: Spider-Man Joins the Questioning

"I understand Tony's anger. No one can remain calm when facing their father's murderer," Phil Coulson said on the side.

"I understand too, but I have to say, now is not the time to focus on this," Nick Fury slapped the table, "The whole Earth is on the brink of destruction, and all of humanity, even the entire universe, is facing annihilation. In this situation, personal grievances mean nothing!"

"I agree, but it's still Tony's parents we're talking about," Natasha Romanoff defended Tony Stark, "Give Tony some time."

"Bucky..." Nick Fury softly muttered the name, and a cold light flashed in his eye.

"Sir, you aren't thinking...?" Phil Coulson was right in front of Nick Fury, and he could clearly read his expression.

"If it's absolutely necessary, I won't hesitate," Nick Fury said in a serious tone.

"Bucky is Captain's good friend. If you really do that, Captain won't let you off," Phil Coulson said.

"Even if he kills me, so what?" Nick Fury didn't care, "Steve and Tony are the most important. As long as I can prevent their falling out and make them cooperate wholeheartedly against the enemy, I can do anything."

"Sir, are you planning to kill Bucky?" Natasha Romanoff finally understood, and she was shocked.

"Bucky's death would push Tony even further. But if Tony kills Bucky, that will be the end of him and Steve. However, if a third party unrelated to them kills Bucky, there won't be any issues between Steve and Tony," Nick Fury said in a low voice.

"Are you crazy?!" Natasha Romanoff exclaimed, "Captain won't spare you!"

"I already said, even if he kills me for avenging Bucky, so what?" Nick Fury said calmly, "In the face of future enemies, I won't be of much use. Whether I'm here or not won't make a big difference. But Steve and Tony, we can't afford to lose either of them."

"Sir, in the future of the questioning space, Bucky actually breaks free from HYDRA and stands on Captain's side, which means our side," Clint Barton spoke up, "He's also a super soldier, just as powerful as Captain. It would be a great shame to kill him."

"Why are you all so nervous? I didn't say I'm doing it right now. I don't want to harm our own people. I'm talking about the worst-case scenario," Nick Fury said, "Tony said he wouldn't take action until after dealing with Loki. We still have half a year to figure something out."

"Speaking of which, this Doctor Strange is really impressive," Nick Fury lightly tapped the desktop with his fingers, "He reflects another issue – that there's a group of sorcerers on Earth, and they might have existed for quite some time. Yet, no one has noticed their presence."

"You're right," Natasha Romanoff said, "Doctor Strange's kind of sorcery isn't something you acquire through genetic mutation. Someone must have taught and trained him. And when Thor came to Earth searching for Odin, Doctor Strange had many books on magic, even records of Asgardian magic. No matter where this sorcerer group is, they must have a profound background."

"If we can find this group..." Phil Coulson said, "We'll have gained a considerably powerful force."

"It won't be that easy," Natasha Romanoff said, "They have existed for so long without anyone noticing, which means they are masters at hiding their presence."

"They are sorcerers, capable of all sorts of unimaginable magic. I wouldn't find it strange if they could do it without a trace," Clint Barton said.

"That doesn't mean we'll give up looking for them, but right now, we have too much to deal with, and we don't need to invest too much effort," Nick Fury said, "Besides, they'll eventually contact Doctor Strange. We just need to stay in touch with him."

"True," Phil Coulson agreed.

"Coulson, go to Wakanda and share the information about this questioning with them," Nick Fury said.

"I heard that place is incredibly advanced, like something out of science fiction. I've been wanting to see it for a while," Phil Coulson said.

Although Nick Fury issued the order to Phil Coulson, he wasn't the only one going to Wakanda. He went with Clint Barton.

The reason was simple. Clint Barton had been to Wakanda before and was familiar with them. Additionally, he was a super soldier now, and having him along made Phil Coulson feel a sense of security.

Wakanda was not a place anyone could just enter. Without permission, others couldn't even find the entrance. Even if someone stumbled upon it by chance, they wouldn't be able to get in, as the protective shield could withstand even extraterrestrial spacecraft.

So before they went, Nick Fury made a phone call to T'Challa to discuss in advance.

"Why is it you guys?" A young black girl opened the protective shield for Phil Coulson and Clint Barton, clearly somewhat disappointed, "Where's Iron Man?"

"You must be Shuri. Tony is busy with the development of the new armor, so only we could come," Phil Coulson explained.

"I had some ideas I wanted to discuss with Iron Man, but I guess he's not coming!" Shuri shook her head, "Follow me! My brother is busy, but he knows you're coming, and he's speeding up. You'll see him soon."

"That Klaw, have you caught him?" Phil Coulson asked, "Do you need help from S.H.I.E.L.D.? You know, we're good at this."

"You want to make a deal with Wakanda? Are you here to buy our vibranium?" Shuri looked up at Phil Coulson, "You shouldn't be telling me these things because I'm just a clueless little girl."

"You may be a little girl, but you're definitely not 'clueless,'" Clint Barton smiled, "Being called a genius by that proud and arrogant guy Tony isn't something just anyone can achieve."

"Indeed, before you, I thought Tony was incapable of complimenting others," Phil Coulson added.

"Is this the guest from Wakanda? I thought they were warriors, but they're just two men in suits," a voice sounded, and a black man with white marks on his face and a black cloak approached first. Behind him followed seven or eight warriors, tall and strong, wearing red cloaks.

"Who is this?" Clint Barton looked at the newcomer with confusion.

"Wakabi, the leader of the Border Tribe," Shuri glanced at Wakabi, who was striding over, and couldn't help but say, "We're in trouble now."

"He seems unwelcoming to us?" Clint Barton remarked.

"It's not just you; Wakabi doesn't welcome any outsiders," Shuri explained in a low voice, "Ever since my brother invited you to Wakanda, he went to question him about the reason. He can't understand my brother's decision."

"So, it seems he hasn't received an answer," Phil Coulson said.

"It's not my brother's fault; it's just that the answer is too dreadful," Shuri said.

"Shuri, why are they here this time?" Wakabi walked over.

"They came to visit old friends," Phil Coulson said, "Our last time spent with T'Challa was pleasant, and I thought he might miss us, so we came to see him."

"Wakabi, my brother isn't planning to open Wakanda; he just made two friends. You don't need to be so alarmed," Shuri said.

"Shuri, you're wrong. I don't welcome outsiders, but if they're friends, I don't have a problem," Wakabi said, "You know what's most heartbreaking? T'Challa is my best friend, the most important friend in my heart. But obviously, in his heart, these newly acquainted friends are more important because he won't even tell me why they're coming to Wakanda."

"Wakabi, I can tell you that you are T'Challa's best friend," Shuri said.

"Then why did T'Challa keep it from me?" Wakabi asked, "Shuri, am I not trustworthy?"

"No, you're absolutely trustworthy, but..."

"Since T'Challa is tight-lipped, then I'll have to ask others." Wakabi interrupted Shuri and looked at Phil Coulson and Clint Barton, "So, you two men in suits, who can tell me the purpose of your visit to Wakanda?"

"Don't count me in; I actually don't like wearing suits," Clint Barton pointed at Phil Coulson, "He made me wear it, saying it's for an important guest visit, and I should pay attention to my attire."

"Mr. Wakabi, since you're T'Challa's best friend, you should trust him and believe that every decision he makes has its reasons, right? Even if he can't explain it to you for now," Phil Coulson shrugged, "But that's what best friends should do, silently support whatever decisions their friends make, right?"

"Very eloquent, typical of the 'suit-wearing' type," Wakabi said, "If that's what you say, then if I drive you out now, as T'Challa's best friend, he should silently support me, right?"

"Mr. Wakabi, it's impolite to drive guests away, isn't it?" Clint Barton said.

"You're right. However, you two are not my guests, let alone Wakanda's guests; you're only T'Challa's guests," Wakabi said coldly, "You have ten minutes to leave; otherwise, my people will help you."

"Wakabi, I understand your disappointment in me for not telling you, but driving guests away is not how we welcome people in Wakanda," a voice came, and T'Challa walked over.

"Wakabi, since you know, you shouldn't have hidden it from me!" Wakabi said.

"Wakabi, believe me, if I could tell you, I would tell you everything," T'Challa looked at Wakabi.

Wakabi stared at T'Challa for a few seconds, then turned and left.

"Too bad, I thought I'd witness Barton's grand display of power," Phil Coulson shrugged.

"Come on, my friends, let me see what the future holds this time," T'Challa warmly led Phil Coulson and Clint Barton away.

While Clint Barton and Phil Coulson were communicating with T'Challa in Wakanda, Tony Stark was busy in the basement researching Mark 42.

In the original timeline, Mark 42 wouldn't have been developed until after the Battle of New York, but now, because of the questioning space, that time had been brought forward quite a bit.

Being technology he developed himself, although the research progress was slightly more advanced than in the current timeline, fully understanding it was not an issue.

After weeks of tireless work, all the components of the Mark 42 armor were completed.

"Sir, give me a few more hours, and I'll calibrate it," J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice sounded.

"No, I can't wait any longer," Tony Stark picked up a syringe and injected a sensor into his arm, "Microsensor injection completed."

"As you wish, sir. I've also prepared a safety guideline for you to ignore," J.A.R.V.I.S. added, playing that dark humor well.

"Of course, I'm ignoring it," Tony Stark said matter-of-factly, then he stood up, "Attention, ladies. Good evening, and welcome to the delivery room. I'm honored to announce that from today, you have gained another powerful brother."

"Why does this sound so familiar?" Tony Stark suddenly remembered that he had said the same thing in the video when he was researching Mark 42.

Then he remembered the scene in the video when a part hit him and sent him flying into the air.

"This time, I definitely won't be so embarrassed," Tony Stark focused and started making gestures.

It has to be said that this time, because he knew in advance that some parts of the armor were "mischievous," Tony Stark was very cautious. He carefully assembled all the parts, and this time, nothing went wrong.

"Haha, I'm indeed the best!" Tony Stark laughed as he activated the repulsors in his hands and feet, and the armor began to fly.

"Tony!" Just then, a voice called out.

"Pepper!" Upon hearing Pepper Potts' voice, Tony Stark instinctively turned his head, but this one turn caused the armor to fly unexpectedly in a direction he didn't anticipate.

And then...

Crash!

There was a loud noise as the armor crashed into a cleaning robot, scattering its parts all over the place. Tony Stark himself was left sprawled on the ground in a sorry state.

"Tony!" Pepper Potts was startled and hurried over, her face full of concern, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Tony Stark said, "It's just that I haven't slept for 72 hours, maybe it's been too long."

"Why are you pushing yourself so hard, Tony?" Pepper Potts showed her concern, "Do you know how worried you make people?"

"Who's worried? You?" Tony Stark asked.

"I'm worried!" Pepper Potts admitted, then quickly corrected herself, "And Happy, and your friends, we're all worried."

"Pepper, although I know it's not the best time to say this, I'm not prepared at all, and neither are you. In fact, I've been hesitating whether to say this, I'm a coward, but sometimes it's just weird, seeing you so worried about me, I suddenly wanted to say it..." Tony Stark rambled.

"What do you want to say? Tony." Pepper Potts interrupted Tony Stark's incoherent speech.

"Do you want to marry me, Pepper?" Tony Stark suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Pepper Potts was completely stunned.

Although the proposal was extremely impromptu, without flowers or a ring, Pepper Potts still agreed. Just as Tony Stark had fallen in love with her a long time ago, she had also secretly admired him.

A grand wedding was held.

The wedding attracted a lot of attention, as Tony Stark was not only a billionaire but also a superhero. Most of New York's business and political elites attended the wedding.

From the original Avengers, besides Thor being in Asgard, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Barton were all present.

Also attending were War Machine James Rhodes, Falcon Sam Wilson, Doctor Strange Stephen Strange, Quicksilver Pietro Maximoff, Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff, Black Panther T'Challa, Phil Coulson, and, of course, the heavyweight guest, Nick Fury.

Basically, all the "answer friends" who had answered the questions together were present.

"Thank you all for coming..." Tony Stark was about to say something when suddenly everything went black around him.

"Come on, while I've always wanted the answering to open, why now?" Tony Stark shrugged helplessly. He had been pulled into the answering space at this moment!

He looked around, and this time, there were even more people in the answering space. All the "answer friends" from the wedding were pulled into it, and even Thor from Asgard appeared.

In addition to these old "answer friends," there were two new people in the answering space.

One was a middle-aged man.

One was an elementary school student.

That's right, the future immensely popular Spider-Man, Peter Parker, was now just a 10-year-old kid.

And the future Ant-Man, who could change the size of any part of his body and even his entire body, but was not very popular, was now a 3-year-old father.
