The Wetlands.

Leon had enhanced vision, allowing him to see the Pokemon on the other side of the Marsh. From what he could see, Leon knew these Pokemon were Lotad and Wooper.

"I see, so if they're too far away, I can't inspect them at all," Leon muttered. If they were too far away, Leon couldn't preview their statuses.

"So, where are the Pokemon? I don't see any." Lars took several takes but saw no activity.

If his eyesight had been as good as Leon's, he would have spotted the group of Lotad. Unfortunately, the rain only made things more difficult for them.

"Beldum? Tell me, what do you sense in the area? I want to know the location of the closest Pokemon." Leon turned to Beldum and said.

"Oh, is this Pokemon good a tracking?" Lars asked.

"Within a certain range, yes, it is. After all, it's a psychic-type Pokemon. I advise that you guys try to acquire a psychic-type Pokemon for your team in the future." Leon nodded and confirmed.

This was an ability that every psychic-type Pokemon could do, but some were better at it than others.

"I'll be sure to get one, I've seen a few in the manual we were studying," Leona spoke. There was one particular psychic Pokemon that caught her attention.

It was a human-like Pokemon with green hair.

'I sense something over there in the forest. Multiple Pokemon, but they're aggressive, so we should be careful. I don't know who those guys are fighting, but I can sense their presence.'

Beldum relayed a message telepathically to Leon.

'Lead the way...' Leon cautiously stated his warning, yet Lars and Leona still chose to follow him.

Leon, Lars, and Leona trailed Beldum through the dense forest, which was significantly larger than the one surrounding Terra Mountain.

Leon and his siblings crouched and crept through the forest thicket, moving damp leaves and bushes away as they slowly advanced.

They made an effort to muffle their footsteps. As they approached, growls could be heard, causing everyone to stop.

Leon gestured to his siblings to be quiet before he slowly parted the bushes, revealing a group of growling Pokemon.

This Pokemon was green with yellow stripes resembling lightning bolts. The other party of Pokemon had gray fur with black fur on their faces, red eyes, and a red nose.

It was a group of Electrike and a group of Poocheyena.

Both groups were growling a snarling at each other, but the Poocheyena were being pushed back. There was no physical altercation, but their snarls and growls were enough to end this conflict.

Poochyena's cowardly nature prompted them to capitalize on weakness and fear and push their opponent to the brink.

Leon evaluated the group of Poocheyena before checking the group of Electrike.

This Electrike appeared to be the leader of the other two and had better moves and aptitude than every Poochyena.

These Poochyena seemed to have gathered randomly, with all of them possessing the lowest ranks in aptitude.

'That's right! Electrike doesn't learn any electric moves until level thirteen and up.' Leon knew it wouldn't be much of a threat without any electric-type moves.

However, Leon's steel-type moves weren't as effective against electric-type Pokemon.

"Hmm..."

Leon also discovered something, they seemed to be fighting over a carcass. Upon further inspection, it was a dead Zigzagoon.

'Ugh! Pokémon eating other Pokémon!'Leon wasn't anticipating witnessing it firsthand, despite knowing it occurred.

However, Leon saw some minor movements coming from the Zigzagoon.

It was still alive!

It appeared to Leon that the Poocheyena had taken down the Zigzagoon, while the Electrike group seemed to be stealing their prey.

Eventually, the Poochyena fleed from the scene defeated and intimidated. Leon saw that the other two Electrike were all at level Six.

All of Leon's Pokemon were at level Eight except Wurmple.

The only threat was the leader Electrike, but it didn't have any moves that could harm Aron or Beldum.

Nosepass boasted high physical defense, while Electrike had low physical offense and no STAB moves.

""Go! Aron, use Rock Throw! Beldum, use Iron Head! And Nosepass, use Tackle!"" Right as the group of Poocheyena disappeared, Leon decided to attack.

Both Nosepass and Aron came out attacking, while Beldum rushed to attack the strongest Electrike.

The three Electrike were surprised by the appearance of these Pokemon. Not to mention a human, something they had never seen before.

One could imagine the situation as the leader Electrike was unable to react in time. This was no different from the other Electrike.

Rocks smashed into the face of the minion Electrike, knocking it over. Leon saw a red x appear on its face when it was hit.

This Electrike struggled to get up, it seemed to be on its last leg. That Rock throw was actually a critical hit.

Leon didn't know this and he couldn't think about it now, he was in the middle of a battle.

Nosepass, on the other hand, was so slow—that the other Electrike had no problem reacting and evading it.

Nosepass and Aron disliked these weather conditions the most. They both wanted to hide from the rain but they compelled themselves to fight.

The leader Electrike also tried to react in time, but Beldum had already struck its side. It was trying to evade, this was why it was struck in such an area. Electrike was sent rolling away, but it quickly recovered to its feet.

"Nosepass, attack the weakened Electrike!" Leon could only order the slow Nosepass to do this much.

Leon finally understood why Roxanne's main move was Rock Tomb. Nosepass was simply too slow and needed this type of support move.

Nosepass reacted quickly but slowly before tackling and finishing off the weakened Electrike.

"Aron, keep using rock throw," Leon commanded with confidence.

This was good, he had a ranged attacker and Pokemon getting close in person. Aron attacked the other minion Electrike, while Nosepass attacked at close range.

Electrike did what it could to evade but with Nosepass attacking up close, it was futile. Aron bombarded Electrike with rocks while Nospass tackled it.

This Electrike fainted in defeat.

Leona and Lars were spectating with shocked expressions. A strong sense of desire and longing began to arise within them.

Leon saw that the Leader Electrike had its fangs biting on Beldum. However, Beldum didn't show panic as this attack didn't hurt it much.

Leon could roughly see the cold mist coming from Electrike's fangs."He had one worry, which was that Beldum might be frozen solid."

"Shake him off, quickly!" Leon frowned. If this continued, Beldum would turn into a statue.

Beldum shook violently and tossed Electrike away. Electrike couldn't get a firm grip on Beldum's smooth metallic body.

Electrike lacked physical attack and stab, so there wasn't anything to worry about. Beldum was also resistant to its Ice move.

Electrike gazed around and saw that its buddies had been defeated. There was actually a change in its expression.

It was a look of disbelief and a bit of fear. One thought ran through Electrike's mind...Run!

It turned and ran, but how could Leon not know what it was thinking? Both Beldum and Nosepass worked together for a joint attack against it.

"Triiiike!"

Electrike squealed in pain, but this wasn't enough to take it down. It wouldn't be until it was smashed over the head with a rock; that it fainted.

"It's done..." Leon gazed around before he threw a Pokeball at the leader Electrike.

Electrike was caught and added to his quest mission.

"Nice work guys." Leon gazed and continued. "Stay alert." Leon walked over and picked up the Pokeball. Afterward, he cautiously walked over to inspect Zigzagoon.

After a few checks, Leon concluded that it may have fainted from exhaustion. Poochyena often did this, they would chase you until you were exhausted and easy pickings.

Unfortunately for them, their prey was stolen by a group of Electrike. Leon found that Zigzagoon had an F+ aptitude, so it wasn't an ideal Pokemon. Even if it had a high aptitude, Leon wouldn't nurture it.

Leon tossed a Pokeball onto Zigzagoon and caught it.

"I've caught Six out of Ten so far, Four more to go." Leon smiled as he previewed the system panel with his quest.

"You guys can come over now." Leon gestured his dumbfounded siblings over.

"That was...Incredible!" Lars was shivering from excitement. This was his first time seeing such a battle.

"I want to be able to do that..." Leona said with a smile. She understood that this island held no future for them.

They could grow only old here and die, but why do that when there was a whole world out there?

"Here you go, this Pokemon suits you." Leon handed Electrike's Pokeball to Lars.

"What? Are you serious, you're giving me this Pokemon?" Lars's eyes widened as he received the Pokeball with shakey hands.

Indeed, Lars thought Electrike was a cool-looking and brave Pokemon.

He had seen it in the booklet that Leon had given them. Electrike was a ruthless Pokemon when it came to hunting, it wasn't to be trifled with.

"Consider it your first Pokemon. Once we get back, we'll take it to the Pokemon Center." Leon wasn't sad about handing over Electrike.

In his thoughts, Leon already had a Pokemon team lined up for the future.

'I wonder if [Mega Evolution] is present in this world.' Leon recounted that Hoenn had the most Megas in the series so far.

'Manectric could Mega Evolve, so this could be considered a really good starter for Lars.' Leon nodded, but he still needed to explore some information about aptitude.

How could he improve it?

"Congratulations, Lars, you've received your first Pokemon." Leona chuckled and patted Lars on the back.

"Yes, you will get your first Pokemon soon as well. I can't wait to see what you'll get." Lars smiled at Leona before gazing back at the Pokeball.

"I wonder what it will be too." Leona was filled with anticipation. However, when she thought about how Leon fought, she was shocked again.

Where did he learn to be and act like that?

"Guys, come, there seems to be more Pokemon in the area that needs to be captured." Leon had just received a message from Beldum.

He came to understand that Nosepass and Aron didn't like these conditions. Beldum had told him this information.

Gazing at the two seemingly dissatisfied Pokemon, Leon had an idea.

"Lars, I'm gonna need you to call forth your Electrike." Leon turned to Lars and said.
