Blood Begets Blood

Angelo; his wife, Martha; and his son, Jeffrey, sat at the dining table and silently had dinner. The atmosphere in the house had been like this—depressing—for almost a month now. Ever since the family of three had moved to Chicago, they'd been living under the radar.

For a teenager like Jeffrey, staying away from social media was almost a death sentence. Thus, he was the one that disliked his situation the most. Angelo knew that very well. Moreover, he also hadn't told his son the reason why they'd moved—only his wife knew.

Angelo didn't want to burden his son, trying to be a good father just like his own father, Enzo. So he tried to lift everyone's mood. "Jeffrey, how was school?"

"I fuckin' hate it!" Jeffrey grumbled as he scooped a spoon full of rice.

"Jeffrey, language!" Martha glared at him.

Jeffrey simply rolled his eyes at his mother and continued eating in silence.
