Challenge of the Samurai

(A few minutes ago)

(Yellow POV)

It had been a few days since Yellow returned after graduating from Oak's academy. Once she returned she didn't know what she wanted to do, most of the time she would help her Uncle, Wilton, or help to tend to his Pokemon. Until one day Wilton asked to talk to her.

"Well, Yellow, I want to know if you have any idea about what you want to do," Wilton asked.

"I don't know uncle," Yellow responded a bit saddened at her own words.

Wilton thought for a moment, "Well, you like Pokemon, why don't you try going out on an adventure?"

"You know I don't like it when Pokemon get hurt, besides I don't even have a Pokemon. And I don't know how to capture Pokemon either." Yellow responded.

"Well you don't have to battle, you could just travel and learn what you like. And as for a Pokemon, why don't you take Doduo, at least you will be able to ride him." Wilton asked as he called over Doduo and held out his Pokeball.

"What, you want to give me Dody? But you use him to travel, I can't." Yellow responded.

"You can and you will, Doduo likes you better you even named him. Now I want you to go see the world and find out what you want to do, but do come and visit me once in a while." Wilton responds as he hands Doduo's Pokeball to Yellow.

Doduo seeing this moves over and puts his head on Yellow, both heads exclaiming, "Do-duo, Doduo"

"Ok, ok Dody I'll do it," Yellow said after hearing what Dody told her, she has always had a gift to being able to understand Pokemon, and even heal. But she never thought anything of it, especially because her uncle had assured her that she wasn't the first to have the same ability.

So after packing her bag and saying goodbye to everyone she knew she was standing on the outskirts of Viridian Forest with Dody standing next to her.

"Well, Dody we are about to start," Yellow said clearly nervous, as she started thinking about her friends who already left to start their journeys. Gary, Green, and Ash. How did they do it, how were they so confident about going on a journey?

As Yellow was thinking Dody smelled something in the air, something that got him excited. So as Yellow was thinking Dody grabbed her and threw her on his back and started dashing. The average Doduo was able to run at 60 miles per hour and Dody was no exception running through the forest as Yellow panicked.

"Dody where are you going, can you please slow down!" Yellow screamed as she was holding on for dear life.

But as she said that Dody came to a stop before he crashed into a person, but the sudden stop made Yellow get through off of Dody's back and crash into the person who was standing in front of them.

(Back to present time)

(Ash POV)

'Here I am on the nice soft ground with a bird and a girl standing over me'. The bird seemed to be drooling and the girl was Yellow and seemed to be in a daze.

She snapped out of her daze and continued her apology, "I'm sorry Ash I didn't mean to hit you you see I was about to leave, but then Dody grabbed me and started running, and then he stopped and I crashed into you, I'm sorry." Yellow said very fast.

"It's fine Yellow, I'm not hurt, and besides it was an accident." Ash said as he stood up and dusted himself off, "But what are you doing here?"

"Well it's a long story–" she was cut off by the sound of grumbling, from both Dody and her. And she looked embarrassed at Ash.

Ash shook his head and gestured to them to come over, "Come on I always make extra, help yourselves."

Dody was literally head down in the Pokemon food and Yellow was given a plate of Seasoned Curry. As they were sitting down Yellow explained her situation about how she was leaving at the suggestion of her uncle, and how she didn't know what she was doing. As they were eating Dody and Yellow were surprised by how delicious the food was.

Ash stopped to think, 'I didn't think Yellow would be leaving on a journey as well, I knew I was going to meet her but not this soon, but I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing to travel with her, her healing could be nice and she may be able to teach me how to improve my healing, why not.'

Ash looked over at Yellow who was finished with her food and Dody was next to her looking at him the same way. Ash could feel himself sweat as he gave them seconds and said, "Well if you want you can come with me, I could even teach you the ropes."

Hearing this, Yellow was surprised, "What are you sure, won't I just be dead weight?"

Ash handed her a napkin and continued, "Of course, the more the merrier, now once you're done eating I can teach you how to catch a Pokemon."

After he said that he started cleaning up and handing out Pokiblokes. After his Pokemon were done eating he put them back into their Pokeballs so they could rest for a bit. And walked over to Yellow.

He pulled out his Pokedex and handed it to Yellow, "Here you can scan Dody with this and you'll learn what he can do." hearing this, Yellow nodded and scanned her Pokemon.

Yellow looked at the information and had more questions and looked at Ash, who explained everything she needed to know. Then she handed the Pokedex back to Ash.

"Well now that you know what you need to know about Dody all you need is a Pokemon and a Pokeball. And I happen to have a few." Ash said as he handed her a few Pokeballs.

Then they looked around and saw a Rattata, "How about that Rattata, they're easy to catch." Ash suggested to Yellow who nodded.

"First send in Dody and tell him to attack with one of the moves he knows, then when it is weak enough you can throw the ball at it," Ash explained as Yellow prepared to battle.

"Ok, Dody attack with um Peck" Yellow commanded as Dody dashed forward and struck the Rat. It made direct contact causing the Rattata to get pushed back.

Rattata decided to fight back with a Quick Attack, and Yellow who wasn't prepared got a hit.

"No, Dody!" Yellow shouted and looked at Ash.

"It's fine just next time a Pokemon is going to attack, try telling Dody to dodge or Counter" Ash explained, trying to calm Yellow down.

Yellow took a breath and focused, "Dody use Quick Attack."

Dody hearing this, screamed and struck the Rattata at fast speeds, leaving the Rat barely standing.

Yellow looked at Ash and he sighed and came closer, "It's weak you can throw a Pokeball." Ash told her.

"OK," Yellow said as she got one of the Pokeballs and threw it at the weakened Rat who was too tired to fight back. 1 roll, 2 roll, 3 roll, 'Ding'

"Yes! We did it." Yellow jumped in Joy as she pulled both Dody and Ash into a hug. Before she realized what she did and let go and stepped back.

"Um, thank you, Ash," Yellow said, trying to hide her face.

'Oh no, it's time like this I wish I was a dense shonen protagonist, you know what they say, fake it until you make it.' Ash thought as he walked over to the Pokeball.

As he picked it up he handed it over to Yellow, "Here you go you can do whatever you want with this little Guy."

Yellow grabbed it and released the Rattata, "Hello, my name is Yellow I am your trainer so how about I name you Ratty."

The Rattata looked at Yellow and smiled, "Rat-tata"

As Yellow started patting her new friend Ratty, she started using her healing to help Ratty recover. Before she realized what she did and looked at Ash, who acted like he didn't notice for now.

But before she could question that they both heard the sound of something in the bushes, and out from the forest came the Samurai. Or rather Samurai because that is his actual name. He approached both Ash and Yellow.

"Hello, are either of you the Pokemon trainer that comes from Pallet?" he asked.

"Yes, I'm from Pallet Town" Ash responded knowing what was coming next.

Hearing this Samurai pulled out his (Fake) sword and pointed it at Ash, "I have found you at last, I challenge you to a Pokemon battle." Freaking Yellow out.

"Yeah sure we can battle, but try not to use a fake sword to challenge people, they'll take it the wrong way," Ash says as he pushes away the sword with his finger.

Samurai blinks and sheaths his sword looking sheepishly, then pulls out a Pokeball and sends his Pinsir.

Ash looked into his backpack and saw that Pikachu was still sleeping so he handed the bag to Yellow and pulled out Pidgey's pokeball.

"Pinsir move forward and use tackle"

"Pidgey fly into the sky and use Tailwind then tackle him back. And stay away from those pincers." Ash commanded

Pinsir tries to hit the bird but before he could hit Pidgey flew into the sky and blew a strong gust of wind, and used the momentum to strike the bug back.

"Pincer grabs him and use Seismic toss," Samurai commanded.

Pincer opened his arms and as soon as he got hit, he grabbed Pidgey and jumped in the air and as they fell Pincer used a Michinoku Driver. Both Pokemon looked relatively weak.

"Pidgey, can you keep going?" Ash asked, getting a nod from the tiny bird.

"Well then flap your wings and use a sand attack to get back into the air."

Pidgey slammed his wings into the ground getting sand to get into the bug's eyes.

"Now finish this use steel wing"

"Pincer no, use Harden" Samurai panicked

As Pidgey's wings became silver, Pincer tried to harden, but as they made contact a dust cloud appeared and out of it Pincer was still standing.

"Pincer, are you ok?" Samurai yelled out but as he did Pincer fell over.

He sighed and returned the Pincer to his ball, "Well you have defeated one but what will you do about the second." He said as he pulled out a second Pokeball and out of it came a Metapod.

"Now you shall see true fear, Metapod use Harden" Samurai commanded

Pidgey just looked back at Ash with a look of, 'Really'. And Ash just shrugged, "Just use steel wing again."

Pidgey just looked tired and walked over, not flying, walking. And just used a steel wing and the Metapod went down immediately.

He returned the Metapod to his ball, "Well now it's time for my final Pokemon." He said as he pulled out one last Pokeball, releasing a Scyther.

Seeing this Pidgey got serious again, and Ash got ready, "Pidgey use Feather dance then sand attack."

Pidgey started to flap his wings releasing some feathers and pulling up sand, then sending it at Scyther, it connected but he didn't seem worried at all.

"Now Focus energy then Quick attack." As he said that Scyther moved fast and connected, landing a critical hit. Pidgey was barely standing.

"Pidgey that's enough" Ash said as he returned Pidgey and pulled out the ball for Spearow and sent him out.

"Your first Pokemon has fallen, now the rest will follow, now Scyther Quick attack again" Samurai commanded.

"Spearow use Double team then fly up" Ash commanded.

As Spearow tock off multiple clones followed confusing Scyther.

"Scyther use Fury cutter, get as many of them as you can."

"Spearow, use Peck, fly in then out, don't let them see who you are," Ash commanded. At this point, Pikachu had woken up and was watching the battle.

As Spearow continuously used Peck, Scyther was unable to hit him. Leaving him very weakened.

"Perfect, now finish this Steel wing."

And before Samurai could retaliate, Spearow had hit Scyther and was knocked out.

Seeing this Samurai signed and returned his Pokemon and walked forward.

"You truly are a worthy trainer, much like the others from Pallet Town."

"That was a good battle, But also if you don't mind where did you get your Scyther?" Ash asked

"Well you were victorious so I see no harm in telling you, there is a group of Scythers held up a little deeper to the north, however, be careful you shouldn't fight them all at once," Samurai said with a warning.

Ash smiled and shook Samurai's hand, "Thank you and I will be careful until we meet again"

"Indeed, let us one day meet again."
