What the...? What just happened?

David struggled to turn his head away from the man lying by him in blood and looked toward the one calling him in English. Tall, well-built, alert, with some kind of bizarre rifle pointed at the man he had apparently... shot.

David looked at him without understanding anything. What... what is going on here?

He suddenly realized that he was sitting on the ground.

He realized how he was wandering mindlessly with his eyes from one man to another.

Should he be afraid? Should he be grateful?
