Casually placing the wok over the developing fire, I waited until the damn thing was smoking before oiling it to satisfaction. After which, I began with the usual steps to making fried rice, but this time, I was only making one portion, and I was foregoing the eggs. "You already know that you can make fried rice without egg, right?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, what I'm going to teach you is just another branch in the family of fried rice," I animatedly explained myself just as I finished cooking my small portion. "This is gonna take a bit more skill than your standard fried rice, so watch closely."
