Questioned

Drey stepped into the courtroom, not bothering to greet the lords as he walked to his seat. The lords were still murmuring, but the room became silent when they saw him on the throne.

They stood quickly and gave him a little bow before following the suit and sitting.

"I heard you all wanted me here patiently since yesterday?" He curled his lips upward.

"Yes, Your Highness," they all agreed in unison. They were not patient, and he knew it, this heartless man.

Drey scanned the room and waited for them to continue. He was already patient enough to listen to them.

"We want those people out of our town, my king," Lord Garry was the one to open the meeting with an anger-filled voice.

"That's true, we would rather not deal with those rescues from Vinita My King, some of us remember they once chased us out of their kingdom," they said as they wait to see what Drey will commend.

Drey had already got an idea of why they were so eager to meet him. He just wanted to see what they will say about rescues.

"Did they threaten your seats as lords?" He looked at their faces one after the other.

An eerie silence followed.

Did the king know about their fear yet, and did he allow them to stay?

Why didn't he inform them before, what he was going to Vinita to do? He just disappeared and came up with countless people who were placed within Rivea.

"Should the leaders of Rivea be more welcoming since we are from different kingdoms, all of us?" He asked, smirking at their silly ideas.

He sometimes wondered how they rule.

"Yes, Your Highness," they answered, not knowing why he had asked them that.

"Then what is that worrying you all?"

"We just don't like the Vinita kingdom, so we should not be mingling with them. We will drag them out ourselves if you don't." The Lords said, looking furious.

"Pah!" The slap on the table brought all of them from their imaginations.

"You won't dare?" Drey said firmly.

Their wide mouths with surprised realization were drawn to the man on the throne. After waiting for him and voicing out what Vinita did to them didn't bother him.

The silence was blown away by a deep masculine voice.

"I agree with the king," Lord Cyrus stood up and bowed to the throne before sitting down.

"Why are you agreeing with that, Cyrus!?" Garry shouted, his anger rising.

"Because I have seen how they are hardworking, Garry, they want to avoid returning to their kingdom and prefer being in Rivea."

"They are just after our resources and to destroy our peaceful kingdom, Cyrus!" They voiced out loudly.

The lords started shouting at one another loudly.

Drey was fed up with them. They were self-centered. Protecting what they will not keep.

"If there is nothing, the meeting is dismissed," saying that, he walked out of the courtroom.

Drey left them still arguing as he disappeared into the corridors.

They tried to run after him only to be stopped, "If you want to see the king, please respect the normal rules," Alex informed them standing at the door.

This angered them even more, but they knew better, not to mess with the King's knight. They turned back, and their anger was directed at the man who was still sitting, "why did you agree with him, Cyrus?" Their loud voices echoed in the corridors of the castle.

Cyrus remained unfazed, especially in Garry's eyes, they have never agreed even once. He looks at one after the other, raising their voices just because he had agreed to what the king said.

"You Lords won't understand," saying that, he pushed them away as he marched out of the courtroom and disappeared.

What will not understand, yet we just wanted those Vinita out of Rivea. They thought.

At the rooftop.

Drey sat on top of the rooftop of the castle, casting his eyes over the riverside. Niva was the immediate town after the river and the smallest town, which was one of the best towns in Rivea.

Most of the material they used for the knights' uniforms, came from there. The land was green, and it has never suffered from hunger as most of the Rivea's towns.

"Garry still causing trouble?" Jerome asked walking to sit beside him. He looked at the town where Drey was looking, it was the town where Garry ruled, Niva.

That lord has even built the most outstanding houses than most Lords did. But he has always wanted more than what he has.

"Like the usual," Drey commented.

"He won't leave you alone until you are dead Drey, why don't you strip him of his powers, that will leave him disadvantaged." Jerome couldn't help but ask this question.

Jerome also knew Garry was the one planning this silly idea on the lord's heads to question Drey's leadership, and destroy Drey, but the king has never acted for his misconduct.

He has turned people against Drey across the kingdom, even after Drey knew he has never acted. But looking at Drey's calm face, he seals his lips. Shaking his head quickly.

"I would have done it my way, but he will miss his target in the coming days." Drey didn't elaborate on it further and watched the stars silently.

"I have come to like the boys from Vinita at the training ground, they are faster at learning swordsmanship and the soldiers are happy about it." Jerome proudly informed him.

"But am still wondering how come, you and Rico ran deep into the fire to save the people of Vinita?" He asked, looking Drey in the eyes, which were void of emotions and remained dark.

Drey gazed back but didn't answer him.

"Leave it, why was I even trying to ask when Rico didn't answer also?" He was curious but didn't probe further.

Drey chuckled as he sounded sad like he was done an injustice.

He was just still childish.
