Chapter 231: The visit

On her third day as a captive, Vivi received an unexpected visit from no other than Doflamingo himself.

When he entered the room, he found her sitting on the bed with her legs crossed and her eyes closed, like usual.

On the table was the tray of food from the day before, untouched.

His eyes moved around the room. Everything seemed to be in place.

This struck him as strange. Usually, captives will try to escape, to break their bonds and open an exit and if that fails, they will smash everything around them to vent their frustrations.  He has seen this many times before and always enjoyed seeing his prisoners go increasingly insane as time passed.

But other than the bed she was sitting on, this room looked to be as untouched as it was the day she was brought in.

The chains also remained properly anchored to the walls and floor with no signs of any attempts to break them.

'There is something wrong…' He could not shake this feeling since he decided to take her with him.

His gaze moved back to Vivi. She had yet to move or open her eyes. Either she didn't notice him entering the room or she didn't care.

'Was bringing her here a mistake ?' There was something deep inside him that was telling him that. No matter how little sense it made. The girl was completely secured with seastone chains and surrounded by his most trusted men.

After reading her wanted poster and then seeing her at Punk Hazard, Doflamingo could not help himself to try and capture this girl. The price was just too tempting to pass it up.

He had expected her to put up more of a fight after the things he had heard about the former princess. Many marines are afraid of her, saying that she is a ruthless demon who kills without hesitation.

A reputation mostly earned by her actions on Enie Lobby and Impel Down. She did not kill a large number of people but those who died by her hand were quite important. Rob Lucci, Spandam, and Magellan were the most notorious ones.

'She is probably the one who killed Bellamy too…' Doflamingo considered the events from two years ago.

The surviving members of Bellamy's crew told the tale of how He got into an argument with the Strawhats. He mocked their Captain and first mate before beating them up quite badly, only to disappear that same night while looking for some gold.

Bellamy's crew had blamed the crazy guy who lives alone in a remote part of the island. They even have the gall to ask him to go take revenge for them.

He instead killed the remaining members of Bellamy's crew. He had no room for useless people at his side.

After that, he put Bellamy's death at the back of his mind and thought no more of it, until this moment. After all, he was just a minor pawn, nothing important was lost. But now he can think of a more likely candidate for the killings.

"Are you going to say something or are you planning on starting at me the whole day?" Vivi asked before slowly opening her eyes to look at Doflamingo.

He frowned, not used to people talking to him with such blatant disrespect. The only ones allowed to talk to him casually are his closest family members, everyone else addresses him as 'Young Master' or 'Master'.

"A princess should be a bit more educated and bashful, even a former one."

"Well, excuse me for not meeting your high standards. Are you going to kick me out of the castle for my misconduct?" She chuckled.

"I have been told you haven't eaten a single meal. Is the food not to your liking? It was prepared by the same chefs that used to serve the royal family in the past." Doflamingo decided to change the topic and not get dragged to her level. He had just come here to make sure she was not starving herself to death, as that would be a problem for his deal with the Marines.

"Oh, you mean before you took over this Kingdom like a common bandit?."

He clenched his fist. No one dared to talk to him like that.

"I only took what was rightfully mine. You know nothing about this place's history an-"

"This island belonged to the Donquixote family before the World Government was funded. Then, they left this place when they were offered a position as one of the twenty Celestial Dragon families. They forfeit their claim to this land and choose to become 'Gods'. Until your father threw his status as Celestial Dragon away. And now you come back here, thinking that you have any right of ownership here. How am I doing?, Did I get it right?" She asked in a mocking tone.

Even with the sunglasses, she could tell that his eyes had opened widely with shock.

"how do you…Viola?, no…I never told her…where did you get that information?!" He demanded

"Oh, and to answer your first question. No, I don't like the food. I don't want to bash on the chefs, but Sanji is one hundred times better." Vivi added.

"How do you know that?!" Doflamingo demanded again, this time with a shout.

"Well, I have been eating his food for years now…"

"Do not test my patience, woman!" He used his ability to slash the table in half.

"How do you know about my family!"

"Ah…that… I'm not going to tell you that." She said while adding a wink.

Doflamingo towered over her in an intimidating manner.

Vivi looked up at him.

"You are not going to kill me, we both know that you need to turn me over to the Marines alive and unharmed. "

She saw the face he was making and decided to answer his unasked question.

"I have good hearing, and you are very loud when you talk."
