Marcus Cutler POV:
I was woken up by my phone ringing. A quick look at my clock showed that in was only 2:00 in the morning. There weren’t many people who would be calling me at this time, and I couldn’t ignore the few who would be.
“Hello?” I greeted as I answered the phone.
“Marcus, what the f*** do you think you’re doing?” my handler asked, skipping right to business. I could tell that this was going to be one of our normal conversations.
“I’m going to need you to be more specific,” I said as I rubbed sleep out of my eyes.
“We have obtained video footage of you going to a hospital with your target,” my handler replied coldly. “Not her harassing you while you’re debilitated in a hospital, but you and her going in together, visiting a patient, and leaving together. No effort was made on your part to kill her.”
“Oh, that.”
“Explain, Marcus,” my handler instructed. “Now.”
