CHAPTER 117
289 AC
I placed both hands on the ground, and using Formotegon ( mold earth ) spell, I raised two 3-meter-high monoliths to the surface. I will use the Usti Perzys (Cauterizing Flames) on one of these monoliths and the medenvita (nourish and strengthen the body) on the other so that the immune system of those who do not heal immediately will be strengthened, thereby reducing the risk of infection.
I began to inscribe the necessary runes on and around the raised monoliths 𐰋𐰾𐱃𐰆 𐰯𐰆𐰀𐰼𐰾 𐰆𐰯𐰆𐰣 𐱃𐰴𐰆𐰾𐰀 𐰴𐰆 𐰀𐰤𐱅𐰼 (bestow powers upon those who enter); when this was finished, I turned to Mander and said:
"I need eight small cattle or four cattle every day. So I can heal 100 soldiers a day, but you should know that I am not a god; I cannot save everyone, and a small number of them will die."
"We have a few livestock, and they are for the knights' and nobles' consumption."
You arrogant prick, you dare and say such a stuck-up thing here. Now I have to slap you. I made sure every other soldier could hear my voice clearly.
" Are you telling me that you nobles eating meat is more important than the soldiers' lives!!! Let the knight and nobles eat gruel with the soldiers, then!! I think it is time nobles made some sacrifice for change, even if it is nothing other than a bit of inconvenience rather than a sacrifice."
When I said this momentarily, he got flustered and didn't know what to say, and all the soldiers started whispering among each other. Even most of the knights were looking at him with contempt.
"Of course not; I just wanted to say where the livestock would be coming from; if needed, we will all starve for a few days if it means this will provide relief for our injured soldiers."
Nice save... First, I summoned my wildfire spirit so I could use Usti Perzys (Cauterizing Flames) spell. They began to clamor around me when they saw the wolf entirely made out of flames. When they brought the small cattle, I sacrificed one for both monoliths, and the sheep's bodies began to mummify, and then they turned into dust.
After that, I cast the medenvita (nourish and strengthen the body) spell onto the monolith. With it, a 20-meter area around the monoliths started to shine with a lively green color. Then I cast the (Cauterizing Flames) spell onto the other monolith. The second my casting finished, it caught fire, and with it, a comforting warmth began to surround us.
For the next four days, I did the same ritual five times a day and tried to heal all of the injured, but even with my best effort, 27 of them still died of infection and other reasons. If I was not here, the loss of life would be ten times higher, and even if some lived, most of them would have lost their limbs.
On the fourth day, Erebus managed to bring me a golden eagle, and like I wanted, it was still alive, but Erebus had broken its wings. I turned and looked at him.
-What? He wouldn't follow me even though I asked him nicely, so I had to be more persuasive and make him more compliant.-
-I didn't say anything.-
I held the big eagle with both hands and cast the spell.
"Figumorfus (shapeshifting)"
The eagle's heart stopped, and at the same time, its body started to break into small beads of green light, and they began to enter my body. In a few seconds, there was nothing left out of the eagle. I could feel my body's shape change and hear my bones cracking and shortening. My arms turned into dark golden brown-colored wings, and my nose and mouth started to get elongated, then started to harden, turning into a sharp hooked beak.
With all my might, I started flapping my arms, which had turned into wings, and I took off instantly. It was as if I knew how to fly since I was born. I had flown a lot before, bonding with Poe and Erebus, but flying with my own body like this was something else. Because as much as I could feel everything when I connected to them, I knew I was a guest rather than the owner of the house. That is why everything was a bit duller.
But now it was like every feeling, every lick of the wind on my body, was a bliss. I flew all around the region from one mountain to another that day. I even did some hunting and caught some rabbits. A golden eagle can go as fast as 320 kmph (200 mph) when they dive, and 200 kmph is its top gliding speed. Their average speed is more than 100 kmph, and as a wild shape, I can go half that speed.
The most fascinating thing about this speed is I don't have to flap my wings to reach it, and all I have to do is go as high as I can and glide using the tailwinds and thermals (rising columns of warm air).
POV KEGAN
It has been more than a week since Ser Drasil left us here to go to Bear Island. Most of the soldiers under his command are worried something has happened to him, but they don't know that Ser Drasil is not just a warg and a knight. He has more powerful magic than any warg could ever dream of having. Most Northern children would grow up hearing the stories about the Winter King and The Warg King. We all know what a warg could do from the stories, and the first time Ser Drasil showed us what he could do. I couldn't believe my eyes.
I was a bit worried, too, but then the Druid Emrys came and told us where Ser Drasil was. I was relieved to hear he was fine and would return to us. My brother and I used every day to improve ourselves, as Ser Drasil had commanded.
We were at the clearing outside the village, and all of the soldiers were tired and stopped training only ones where left here were us two. While we were training, a giant eagle swooped down and over our heads. It circled in the air and dived again and again. Harlik was really angry and was getting ready to throw a big stone. The eagle swooped down one more time, but it was so fast we couldn't even react to it. When it looked like it was going to crash onto the ground, it opened its giant wings and slowed down. At that moment, it started to morph and change into Druid Emrys.
This person must be more powerful than Ser Drasil. Ser Drasil was able to change shape too, but he told us he wasn't able to turn into a bird or fly. The sudden transformation of the druid had spooked Harlik and me. Most people think he is the Priest of the Old Gods since he healed all those soldiers
We were getting ready to bow to him, and he raised his hand to signal us that we don't have to bow. I was just about to greet him, but the wooden mask on his face opened up, and a familiar face was smiling at us.
