229. Glaring

Jael pushed Mauve's door a little too forcefully. He didn't have any reason to be here but somehow he was. Mill and Mauve jumped at the sound of the door opening.

"Jael," Mauve cried and rose to her feet.

"Sire," Mill said and bowed her head.

He kept a bland expression as he walked in even though he could feel a knot in his stomach that was slowly tying tighter as he walked in.

Her black hair with streaks of white was tied up in a bun, and a few strands hung loosely around the side of her face.

He picked up the pace and was in front of her in seconds. She shrank a little at his gaze but he couldn't stop staring.

The gold jewelry matched her eyes which reflected a golden hue from the candlelight. She bent her head slightly, hiding her eyes from him.

Jael used a finger to lift her chin so she was looking at him again and his eyes scanned her face. Without hesitation, he bent his head low enough and planted a kiss on her lips.
