Chapter 219: The Quiet Dumbledore (Edited)

That night, Dumbledore had waited outside the Gryffindor Common Room first thing in the morning.

He had not thought that the so-called Heir to the Chamber of Secrets would attack again so soon, or even that the attacker was really the Heir to the Chamber of Secrets.

Because Dumbledore knew that Voldemort was the one who had actually inherited the Chamber of Secrets from Slytherin.

Also, Mrs. Norris was attacked earlier when everyone was attending the Halloween banquet, obviously the attacker did not want to reveal his identity, nor did he have the confidence to take out all the witnesses in a room full of people.

The reason Dumbledore decided to follow Fish was because he thought he might pick up details that a normal person wouldn't, and just in case, of course.

As for the trivial matter of leaving the work to Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape, he had no problems.

While Dumbledore was lazily sipping his black tea and waiting for the cat outside the Gryffindor Common Room, Fish had donned his invisibility cloak, changed into a stealth cat, and snuck up behind Lee Jordan, who had burst in behind the hole in the wall of the Fat Lady's portrait.

"Don't get caught by Filch and the other professors, and, come back soon!"

The Fat Lady warned in passing as Jordan walked out.

Late nights out were all too common for the Gryffindor students, not to mention that now, with Fish and the twins, who had no respect for school rules, the Fat Lady had taken to opening the door for them at curfew.

Sometimes the children would be so late as to disturb her sleep, especially Fish, who didn't return until the wee hours of the morning, forcing her to change her bedtime to after midnight.

"I'm just going to the kitchen to get something to eat," Lee Jordan replied quietly, "I didn't eat much for dinner, I'm a little hungry."

After speaking, he slipped to one side of the corridor, poked his head out and looked left and right, before continuing to run down the stairs stealthily.

Dumbledore, who was standing outside, glanced at Lee Jordan, then withdrew his gaze, took a sip of black tea calmly, and continued to pass the time by reading the book in his hand.

The invisible Fish couldn't see the equally invisible Dumbledore, but his [Animal Tracking] spell could sense Dumbledore's location.

"Ha-!"

(=`д′=)

The kitten grinned in Dumbledore's direction, before wagging its tail in triumph and strolling slowly towards Myrtle's bathroom on the second floor.

The journey to the bathroom was uneventful, but Fish spotted Myrtle sitting on the toilet in the cubicle opposite the pipe entrance, humming a mournful song.

(=?ω≤?)

Fish scratched his chin with his hind leg, distressed, for, having been absent several times, he had forgotten that there was a resident ghost in the toilet.

Looking around, Fish walked to the door of a nearby cubicle, put his buttocks against the half-open door, raised his hind legs and kicked.

"Bang!"

The old wooden door slammed shut and then swung open again with a loud bang.

"Who is it?"

Myrtle, who was sitting on the toilet singing, startled and her head snapped through the wall, looking askance at the wooden door of the adjoining cubicle, which was still shaking.

"It's you again, Peeves!"

Myrtle screamed in horror as she looked around and failed to make out who had kicked in the door, then dived into the toilet with a loud splash.

She mistook him for Peeves, because Fish had seen Peeves bully Myrtle in this way last term, when he had slammed the cubicle door and thrown paper balls at her.

On the contrary, Fish simply startled her, which was quite merciful.

After startling Myrtle, Fish opened the pipe with his Parseltongue and slid down with glee.

The evil Dumbledore had been watching him so closely lately that he hadn't had a chance to go down the pipe, but tonight he was going to have fun.

"Nyajajajajaja!"

?(●≧?≦●)?

After a dozen slides down the pipe, a slightly bored Fish remembered that he had come to see Uroboros on business.

So he fixed a bit of messy hair and then trotted toward the Slytherin chamber.

"Hiss..."

With Fish's Parseltongue words, the mouth of the Slytherin statue opened again and the basilisk, Uroboros, stepped out of it.

"Uroboros, good night nya~"

(●φφωφ●)?

Fish, who lifted the invisibility cloak, greeted him.

"Hiss."

When the basilisk responded, it leaned over and touched Fish's face with the tip of its nose.

"You've been hungry for the past few days, come on, eat first nya."

Fish opened his magic bag and poured out all the food, and the basilisk opened its mouth as wide as it could and scooped up most of the food Fish had poured out.

"It's not that I didn't intend to come see you, nya. Something happened at school recently. The mean old man watched me watch me strictly. I used this thing to get rid of him nya."

Fish explained to Uroboros, who was quickly shoving food into his stomach, waving the invisibility cloak in his hand.

The basilisk looked at the silver cloth in Fish's hands and continued to swallow the food from the floor.

'It's just an invisibility cloak, it's not like I haven't seen it before.

'The old master didn't need such a thing when he was invisible.'

Uroboros thought disdainfully, then swallowed the last bit of food.

"You still eat so fast nya," Fish sighed, finally getting down to business, "Uroboros, Fish has something to ask you nya..."

Fish then told the basilisk about the petrification of his good friend Mrs. Norris and about the Chamber of Secrets.

"You've been at Hogwarts your whole life and you've already been a Slytherin mascot, do you know who the monster in the Chamber of Secrets is?"

(?°?°?)?

Fish grimaced and shook his fist, "Fish is going to kick his arse to avenge Norris nya!".

Uroboros: "..."

Even without Voldemort's orders, after hearing Fish's words, Uroboros wasn't going to tell Fish the truth.

So he shook his huge head twice and spat out a reply, "Hiss hiss." (I don't know, I've never heard of a Chamber of Secrets).

"Even you don't know nya?"

?ω?

Fish folded his arms and frowned, distressed.

"Kanaloa said she didn't know nya either, I thought you would know nya..."

The pure-hearted kitten didn't suspect that Uroboros was lying to him, and Kanaloa had also said that the basilisk's eyes would kill anyone who looked into them, so it was only natural that Uroboros was hidden by Slytherin most of the time and didn't know.

"What is it with this Slytherin? why does he like to hide things everywhere?"

Fish complained angrily, but Uroboros ignored him.

The old master had been dead for so long anyway, it didn't matter if he got scolded, let alone the offspring of the old master who scolded him, it was none of his pet's business to meddle in such matters.

After cursing and complaining about Slytherin, Fish played with Uroboros for a while, telling him that he probably wouldn't get a chance to visit for some time.

"When I find a way to get away from the mean old man, I'll be back with delicious food for you, nya."

Fish patted the basilisk's body and then planned to leave.

"Hiss." (Wait a minute.)

The basilisk called out to Fish, then turned and went back inside the Slytherin statue.

But it soon came back out.

"Nya?" ?ω?

Fish cocked his head to the side and watched in confusion as Uroboros went in and out of the statue's mouth.

"Thud."

The basilisk, which was back in front of Fish, opened its mouth and a black-covered book fell in front of it.
