Chapter 53: Homecoming

“Honey!” exclaimed the woman who was no doubt Addie’s mother. They were the spitting image of one another. I did a double take just to be certain that I was not hallucinating. But no, I was not seeing double; the woman hugging Addie was simply an older version of her down to the last freckle.

“Oh, how I’ve missed you so much,” she squealed, squeezing Adeline’s head into her bosom.

Adeline laughed as she squirmed and attempted to escape her mother’s loving clutches.

“Mom, stop! Let go!” Addie shrieked, “I missed you too, okay!”

Addie’s mother eventually released her before turning her attention on me. I gulped nervously.

Here I was, an Alpha of the most powerful pack in New York, a demon wolf living in my head that is most likely plotting a way to take over my body and go on a killing spree… And yet I felt my knees buckle for the first time meeting the mother of the woman I was in a relationship with.

I definitely had a few screws loose.
