Chapter 32: Mysterious CARINA

He heaved a sigh.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but we have to go," Spade said and then helped me stand up. I picked up the bag and let him carry me in bridal style.

I was clinging to him for dear life. I don't know where he took me while he was running. All I can remember was the wind touching my face as I buried my face in the crook of his neck.

"Alpha? Are you okay?" I heard Kaydon's voice, but I refused to look at him. All I want to do is to cling to Spade now that he sees the vulnerable side.

"I saw this from the human who tried to do her harm," I heard Spade say.

I heard Blanched gasping.

"No way!" she growled. And Blanch approached me. "Raven, girl, look at me," she said lowly. "I know you were scared, but please look at me, sweetie."

I don't know how Blanch made me look at her and get off Spade's lap.

"I know you're scared, and I know how you feel but listen to me when I say that the whole pack will be here for you. I know what you have been through, but we will defend you. We will fight for you," she said, combing my hair.

"But that dagger was the weapon that my mate used to kill me," I cried in response to her, which shocked her. I don't care if she'll learn about what happened to me back then. The thing being rejected and almost killed by my mate, a mate who she often boasts to me about.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, Raven," she said as she recovered from her shock. "I thought you hadn't found your mate yet," she said. "Was he the one who did all those things to you before my father found you fighting for your life?"

"He annihilated my pack in one night," I told her. "I was eighteen back then, and I loved my new pack after he murdered my real parents. I wasn't expecting him to come and finish what he started," I said, still crying, showing them how vulnerable I was. I was scared that if they learned about my past, they would disrespect me and that I wasn't the Alpha they believed I was. "And when the day he decided to show up was the day I learned that he was my mate."

"Shhh!" Blanch shush me. "It's all in the past, Rav. You have us. We will face him together," she said before hugging me tightly.

As the omegas served the food, one of them noticed the dagger. She was the omega from the Blue crescent pack.

"Alpha, I knew something about that dagger," she said while serving Spade a drink. As much as I hate the thought of me being clingy to Spade, I couldn't let him go without properly saying thank you to him.

"May I inspect it?" the omega said.

Kaydon let her hold the dagger, and she began inspecting it.

"If I am not mistaken, this dagger was what they called Carina," she said.

"Carina? What kind of name is that?" Blanch said, looking at her.

"Carina came to the pyramid of Giza. This was buried together with Tutankhamun. Before the archaeologist found his burial place and the pyramid of Giza was discovered, this dagger was already unearthed by thieves back then during ancient times and gave it to my ancestors. And recorded some extraordinary things about it; my family kept them for generations. The journal and the dagger have been passed down from generation to generation and kept a secret, but a few years before my grandfather died, he told my father that someone had stolen the journal and the dagger. But he told my father about the secret of the dagger. He told him that the dagger's name was Carina as the late Pharaoh called it and that the dagger was made to protect him from monsters. It was said that during his reign, some unknown beast emerged every night and ate his people for years. Someone recorded the event in a stone tablet that my ancestors had the knowledge to read. According to the text, the plague transferred to them after it was done in Canaan, which was left deserted. According to the text, the plague was something that no human would imagine. It was a nightmare. My ancestors said that the plague was a legion of monsters who prowled at night, feeding on humans and leaving before the sun was up. Nobody sees their figure, but one of Pharaoh's men sees them. He described it as a monster with the face of a wolf but a human body covered with furs, with long claws and a foot bent like a wild dog's. One also told the Pharaoh that they also have long and pointed teeth and human shapes. The other also told him that he saw a human with an animal head hiding their face while eating one of his sons. The Pharaoh listened to them and told them their Gods warned him that something like this would happen. According to them, he must create a dagger that will protect them against those monsters, and that dagger must be from the material that has been left under the sun. The silversmith began making this special dagger as the priest started to cast a spell on it. The blade turned red and silver and immediately hammered on its wooden handle. When the dagger was completed, the Pharaoh was attacked the night after the dagger was made, and he killed one of the leaders of those monsters using the dagger; the Pharaoh lost his life not after telling his men that the dagger could kill these monsters. Upon learning this and the death of their leader, the monsters launch attack on them. But not after the Pharaoh's burial inside the pyramid and the dagger. All of it was written in that journal before it was stolen. The dagger and the letters engraved on each side of the blade-" he paused and glanced at me, "..means blood and flesh eater-killer. My father left the pack to look for this missing blade, especially when he learned that the dagger was used to-" she stopped talking.

"Used to?" I asked him.
