Chapter 27: Poison and Contract

Stacey's phone suddenly rang. The hooded creatures seemed to have one eye on him. But luckily, Stacey ran away before they could even catch her.

Another memory from her blood took me to another scene..

"Are you sure Raven will come, daughter?" Aunt Freya asked.

Stacey smiled.

"Yes, Ma," Stacey answered her.

"Alright, I'm leaving. Be careful!"

After Stacey closed the door, she walked past the living room and went to the kitchen to continue preparing her mac and cheese, and she then put it inside the oven while humming her favorite song.

Later she heard a knock. I knew Stacey learned a few spells, and she cast them all over the house. It will not be easily accessible to anyone.

I saw Stacey re-enter the living room to peek at who was outside.

I see myself knocking on the door. Stacey saw the fake me.

"Hey! Stacey! Are you in there?" I heard the fake me say.

I felt Stacey's uneasiness. She had doubts in her mind. Does she doubt why I am already at her doorstep ahead of her calculation? She then again peed in the hole, and she saw me smiling.

Again, her instinct kept on shouting inside her head not to open it, but Stacey dismissed it despite the odds about the 'me' in her eyes. She opened the door. She knew that the spell she cast on the door would keep me from coming in if it weren't me. But to her surprise, the fake me entered the house without a problem. It made Stacey calm down a bit, and she never suspected anything.

I saw both of them go to the kitchen and talk casually. Stacey offered the fake me a cup of coffee which she gladly accepted. She then showed her the mac and cheese inside the oven.

"I made it a little bit spicy," she said.

"But I like it spicy," the impostor replied.

"Oh! I have some chocolates in my room. Want to have some, Raven?" she asked casually.

"Yeah! Go ahead. Give me some," the fake me replied.

"Alright! I'll be quick," Stacey replied before turning her back.

She knew then that she wasn't me. Stacey knew that I hated spicy and sweet food. She climbed up her way to her room, and I saw she grabbed a wooden dagger. She put it inside her shirt and then grabbed some chocolates from her drawer.

"Sorry I was .." she didn't finish what she was going to say when she arrived at the kitchen, and she found no one there. Suddenly her chest throbbed.

She suddenly marched down the stairs where the basement was and where the documents she had gathered while investigating. She was stunned to see the basement door open despite being locked.

"For a human, you're stepping into something you don't know," the impostor said.

As soon as Stacey stepped into the basement, the door behind her suddenly closed.

"Who the hell are you?" she questioned vigilantly.

I saw the fake Raven grin evilly.

"Are you one of Raven's enemies or the enemy herself?" Stacey says fearlessly as she slowly takes the wooden dagger hiding inside her shirt.

The fake Raven grinned even more.

"Hmmm," she said before transforming into someone I don't know.

I only saw a person covered with fur and a lion's head covering her head and face. But I can see that she is a woman.

"Witch bitch, or should I say Skinwalker," Stacey added.

"Call me whatever you want; after all, you're going to die tonight as I confiscate every piece of evidence you stole from me before you will let Raven see it," the woman replied.

The door suddenly opened up, and an angry wolf came in.

"Any last words, Human?" the skinwalker asked her.

"Fuck you!" Stacey replied.

I couldn't watch how the wolf played and toyed with Stacey's body.

I was crying when I watched her trying to fight back her memory. Stacey's against a werewolf who's a lot stronger than her.

I let go of her wrist. Blood oozed from the wound I made on her.

Stacey smiled at me tenderly, then took her last breath.

Fuckkkkkk!!

I grabbed Stacey's body and hugged her so tight.

Damn it!

I didn't even know when her parents arrived. And I didn't know what to say to them about why Stacey's dead and will no longer be with us.

Stacey's mother looked at me tearfully.

"Alpha," she told me.

I looked at her and hugged her. I didn't just apologize to her once. I said many, many times.

"I'm sorry, Freya," I whispered to her.

"I knew this day would come as soon as Stacey decided to help you, Alpha," she cried in response to me. "But she told me that she decided to thank you for welcoming us though we are humans," she said. "She said that if something might happen to her one day, she would never regret it," she said, crying.

I was speechless. Stacey's blood has kept everything she did even though everything she worked hard for has been stolen.

"Please, kill whoever did that to Stacey, Alpha. Kill it for my sister and me," said the child who hugged Freya.

I smiled at him sadly and stroked his hair.

"Don't worry, kiddo, I intend to do that," I replied to him, full of determination.

"Hey, you've been spacing out since you came here," Rebel told me while we sat opposite. "Any problem?" he added.

I shook my head. I would never tell him about what happened to my dearest friend.

"I'm just tired," I lied. I've been puzzled since the day I drank Stacey's blood. She showed me the truth she was investigating back then. "What were we talking about?"

He smiled at me and sat straight.

"We were discussing our engagement," he replied to me.

"Ah, engagement," I mumbled subconsciously, but I abruptly raised my head and stared at him when I understood what he meant. "What? What engagement are you talking about? I never agreed to that!" I exclaimed eyes widened.

He laughed at me.

"I asked you many questions about it, and you never said no. You agreed about it," he said.

"What? When did I say yes?"

"Uhm.. a couple of minutes ago," he said, laughing. "You already signed it," he added and showed me the paper I had just signed.

My eyes widened when I saw I had signed our contract. It stated there that once signed; there is no backing away. And I'm a wolf of my word. I never back down into anything. I looked at him angrily.

"You took the chance that I was spacing out, aren't you? Otherwise, there's no way in hell that I will agree to this," I replied, annoyed at him.
