Sara's point of view (1)

*Sara's point of view*

Sara woke up in the hospital and felt weak. Thoughts like"This is wrong" and "This was not supposed to happen." kept popping into her head as she remembered what had happened. She couldn't understand why would strong esper like Sam was helping Loki and why Loki knew what she was about to do.

"I need to call Clara and explain myself." She thought that if she just explained herself, Clara would forgive and understand.

However, when she found her phone and tried calling her. She realised that Clara had blocked her number. "No!" She yelled. "Why is this happening?!"

Sara understood that what she did was not the morally best option. But how could it be considered wrong? They were fighting for the future of this world and justice. If only she could explain this to Clara. But Clara blocked her even on social media. So there was no way of contacting her from here. She can only try reaching out to Clara at school.

A few minutes after she woke up, someone knocked at the doors. A voice behind the doors revealed to belong to Jared. "Can I come in?"

"Yes," Sara answered. She was confused as to why the hero couldn't defeat the lightning esper or Loki for that matter. So she needed answers, and she will get them from Jared. "Please, come in."

Jared walked in with a worried look on his face. He took a seat beside her bed. The girl noticed a bruize on Jared's face.

"What happened? Sara sat up and touched his injured cheek.

"Nothing. I have a question." Jared said with a serious expression. "How are you alive?"

"Huh?" Sara raised her brows. "What do you mean?"

"I saw Loki stabbing you. Not once, many times." Jared stated. He was trying to sound confident but more scared than he wanted. He then looked away from Sara and focused on some other object nearby. "So how?"

"Stab me?" then she started to recall the fight. How Jared left her, and Loki grabbed her by the throat and started stabbing her stomach with a pocket knife. This memory was so horrifying that she began to scream, "Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" but in a few seconds, she covered her mouth. Tears were streaming down her face as she looked at the person who was supposed to be her hero. That same person left her alone to face Loki; it was just a miracle that she was still alive.

"You left me there!" Sara finally screamed, "He would've killed me!"

The man nodded sadly. "I know...I'm sorry. I didn't think Loki would stab you. I thought he was better than this..."

"Are you out of your fucking mind?" She continued shouting. "If he were better than this, I wouldn't even need your help to stop him!"

"What?" Jared was startled.

"If Loki was not a danger to the world," Sara snapped. "I would have never chosen you over him!"

She then stopped talking to catch a breath. The room was silent. Then all of a sudden, tears filled her eyes again. Sara covered her eyes with both hands and cried. She continued to see Loki's smug face as he repeatedly stabbed her. How he laughed when she begged him to stop, and how everything turned black. She saw a golden light in her last memory and woke up in this room.

"I am sorry," Sara suddenly apologised. She realised she couldn't push away Jared no matter what because Jared was the only person in this world that could defeat Loki. "It's scary... Loki is scary..." She suddenly exclaimed.

"I just don't understand one thing," Jared replied as he stood up and began walking towards the window. He leaned out and looked around him. "Why didn't he kill me?"

The realisation hit Sara like a truck. She slowly began nodding her head. "That's right! He didn't even try to kill you! Do you think he was trying to scare you?"

As she asked questions, she slowly became calmer and said, "We need to find out why we are still alive. He must have a reason to spare our lives."

"And if we know that reason," Jared paused and smiled. "We could use it to our advantage."

"Indeed," Sara nodded. The thoughts about the fight still made her tremble. "But how are we going to find out that reason?"

After a minute of thinking, Jared replied. "That is a good question." Original Loki was predictable, but whoever this guy is... "Wait a minute. I think I know." Jared's face turned dark. "That guy wants to remove the system from my body."

"What?"

In the novel's fourth arc, the villain titled dark queen showed up and found a way to remove the system from the hero's body. With that, she was able to use all powers that the hero acquired until Clara managed to find a way to get the system back to the hero. But this was no longer possible because Clara is not here anymore; she hates Jared and might end up joining Loki.

"Shit!" Jared exclaimed.

The thought of Clara joining Loki was terrifying. Because her ability allowed her to become invulnerable and immune to any type of element, whether it was magic or superpower, in later arcs, she could even reflect all the damage to others. Sara managed to trap her with brainwashing because Clara was caught unguarded, and with the shackles of despair, she could no longer activate her skill.

But what scared him even more, was the probability that Loki was planning to take away Jared's power and was just waiting for Jared to get stronger.

"Shit!" Jared punched a wall. "That fucker wants to take away my system when I get stronger!"

"What?" Sara was speechless. It seemed too crazy for reality.

Jared sighed heavily and sat down next to Sara again. "There is a way for others to get the system from me, and Loki is one of those very few people who know it."

"How?" Sara's voice cracked. She wasn't ready to give up. There has to be another way. Maybe, if she managed to steal his power for himself... "Just tell me!"

"But why do you want to know?" Jared frowned, puzzled. "The fewer people know, the better it is."

Sara laid back in bed, knowing that Jared would become suspicious of her if she continued to ask. And if he suspects something is off, he may decide to leave. So, she decided to stay quiet. They stayed silent before Sara asked Jared to leave, saying she needed rest.
